      @@Nyxgoddess24 the phrasing of a sentence, when speaking to a victim about the crime itself, is very important. It’s actually easily triggering. In my personal experience it can make me shut down and not share my story at all. In others it can make them get angry or defensive and start an argument. Then nothing gets talked about and everyone has lost. That’s why it’s important.

    Steve really doesn’t understand sexual abuse… I’m a huge fan of him but it’s something I’ve noticed. You don’t just react naturally when someone does something so unnatural… it’s easy to judge in hindsight but in the moment it’s not that simple… I was sexually abused by a family member for years and my family blamed me because I shouldn’t have let it happen…. It’s disgusting blaming the victim…

    Poor girl. I'm a huge fan of Steve Wilkos, but that comment he made was way out of line, and victim blaming. Then the audience was ignorant enough to applaud. That was just downright disgusting. Steve needs to better understand abuse victims if he is going to continue to have them on his show. I hope he apologized more backstage that was obviously very triggering to her, as it would be for anybody else who experienced SA.

      @@whoskatelynn The weirder the answer the more truthful the story. Obviously, she knew it was weird and odd for him to be touching her there for 45 min. And I can only guess why a child "she was still 17" would not resist. Probably some psychological imprint or the drugs were still effective.
      Either way, asking a question is never bad or wrong. Unless you are trying to trap someone wrongfully. Also asking something like this, knowing as a cop this happens more often than you realize, also opens up the eyes of the audience and people watching the show that yes people can sometimes shut down or not really resist something someone does. And it is still rape/assault. So the question is a really good question actually.

      They have severe issues though. It shows the amount of damage done to them. That's going to take a long time, and a lot of therapy. When you go spitting on someone and carry on like that, that shows extreme internal anger. Justified, maybe, but that's extreme dysfunction and pain right there. I feel sorry for screwed up people like this.

    Freezing up is one of the most common responses to trauma, seriously that's like trauma 101 and the fact that Steve used to be a police officer and has that mindset might explain why a lot of SA incidents aren't reported

      Exactly. I was quite shocked when I heard him ask why she didn’t stop her own assault. Freezing up is the usual response, especially if the abuser is someone close to you. She probably felt there wasn’t much she could do to stop him while they were driving in his truck. She couldn’t get away from him since she was in a moving vehicle and she had no idea if he would become even more violent if she tried to stop him.

It is disgusting and really horrible behaviour. I know their dad is a monster but that does not give you the right to spit on random people. Wonder if she would do that to anyone on the street.     I couldn't finish watching this clip. As soon as Steve said "why didn't you take his hand out" I was disgusted. Do NOT blame the victim. Its easy to say you could have done this or that when you're not the victim/survivor. Steve gets it wrong sometimes... Super disappointing.

      I think you got it all wrong, Steve asked her after she told him she was on Crack, she wasn't sober so he wanted to make sure (in a different case before he said even if ur daughter said yes you still can't) He did tell her in the end it's not her fault, and said the same thing to the audience.

      He was confused because of the duration, 45 MINUTES. He was not blaming her, he just was surprised that the act occurred for so long if she was being so resistant. It’s easy for a bad act to go for so long with little resistance, but very hard for it to go for song long if hardly resisted. Im for her im for victims, but you hurt your point by having hair trigger emotional reactions.

    My gosh Steve, you should never ask an abuse victim "why didn't you do this or that" bc mind you she was a MINOR, and her grown father was assaulting her. It's giving "what were you wearing" energy. I'm a fan of your show but these older videos are showing how far you've come with dealing with sexual abuse victims.     Honestly I was about to get real angry at Steve, the way he said "why didn't you take his hand out of your pants!?" Almost like he was blaming her... That pissed me off because as a survivor of sexual abuse I was made to be the bad guy even at 10! So that really got me and then the audience clapped... Shame on them! I'm glad he back tracked and said it's awful what he did to you NOT what you did, people just need to choose their words more carefully.
    I'm proud of her for standing up for herself ❤️

    Steve is very bias when it comes to sexual abuse stories especially when it’s a adult woman telling her story. He needs to work on that if he’s going to continue to take sexual abuse cases with adults. Because he definitely offended her when he asked that question. I was victim when I was younger and I’ll be damned if someone asked my why I didn’t stop the guy which I tried.

    Good on her for standing up for herself when the audience claps Steve did at least pipe them down. I think it’s just a common thing to do as a tv audience is to clap when someone comes out.     This dad is pure evil! I knew he was lying cause nothing didn't add up. Stave was right! She was vivid about what she was saying over & over again. What kind of a parent that can get their kid started on drugs? The dad is evil for what he did & has done to his 2 daughters. I would like an update on this story as well.       Just always keep her within your sight, unless she is at the age where she has to attend school. Don't trust anyone. Always ask questions when she is able to talk. Let her know what's right and what's wrong. As an SA victim for 15 years, I'm extra cautious.

    I'm sure Steve asked her why she didn't pull her fathers hand away because that is what people would ask if they were blessed with great parents and never once was disrespected or abused. Steve knows why, that's why he stopped the clapping of the audience. He started to talk and she interrupted. I'm glad she strong and free.

      @@Lisa111999888 I'm going to be that person and say not all cops think that way, I have an entire military cop family and I can guarantee you that the majority of them, yes there were always be those few, but the majority of them would never ask you while being sexually abused why you didn't move someone's hands out of your pants.

    I love Steve truly, love his shows, everything but when he said "why didn't you stop him" literally disgusted me so much. Steve you really need to understand that you can't victim blame. She was shocked terrified even. she TRIED but when you get sexualy assaulted by your FATHER ofcourse your gonna freeze from shock or something. I honestly hope Steve learns that saying that to a victim can cause serious harm. Though I am truly grateful that they got their justice after all the years and fear they've had.

    I like Steve, but sometimes he is a bit disconnected with the experiences of SA survivors. Even IF she had not tried to remove her father’s hand, that doesn’t mean consent or approval. Survivors can fully shut down when faced with fear and trauma. I wish Steve would actively try to be understanding towards survivors.

    I'm a little confused about the daughter when Steve made the comment about keeping her kids off drugs. She said she will do the best she can and certainly wouldn't do it with them. I hope she isn't still doing crack because that would be horrible.

    As a survivor of abuse it always upsets me when steve asks certain questions but i feel like he asks questions certain ways because of his his previous line of work? Not that it excuses it, theres always time to learn and adapt and educate yourself.

      He can ask that question because not everyone’s abuse is the same, I went through abuse but I don’t get madd everytime Steve asks the victim questions because it’s different situations and circumstances, you obviously still have some healing to do with all that projection
