- In today's video I have quite a bit to discuss regarding Walt Disney World. I start at Animal Kingdom to look more into the tropical americas expansion that will replace Dinoland due to recent permanents being filed. Next, I ride Expedition Everest before heading over to Nomad Lounge. After that I hopped over to Epcot to finally see CommuniCore Hall in person and let me tell you I have a lot to say about this disaster! Next year, universal is about to give Disney its greatest wake up call in history. Steve Jobs said it best: the reason once great companies fail is because the visionaries, innovators, and engineers that made the company great, overtime get pushed out of the room “where it happens” and replaced by marketing and finance types that do not understand what made the company great in the first place.

They had no budget for ANY creativity. It's pathetic. All of Disney's best people were hired by Universal.
We’re local & we frequent the parks at least 4/5 times a month. We were at EPCOT a few weeks ago & visited CommuiCore Lounge at 8:30 ish PM. It feels like a hospital waiting room. I hope they do more with this space.
Our expectation for any Disney refurbs are very low. EPIC Universe is what we’re most excited for.
CommuniCore Hall is where you come to realize that you have just been through a procedure to have your hard earned vacation dollars extracted from your bank account. Exactly like the family waiting area outside of a surgical procedure unit where I worked.
That was my reaction when I saw that hall this past weekend. What a horrible disappointment!

Just feels like Disney could have done so much more with Epcot, the refurbishment is very half baked and will need to be replaced in another 10-15 years because it’s too “modern”. It’s a shame we waited all this time for a park and a convention center.
Years waiting and Disney gave us my high school lunchroom. So very disappointed with all they’ve been doing these past several years. This latest change just reinforces that they’ve lost Walt’s magical touch. Sad.
Agree, the wow factor is gone and the beauty. There is nothing special with what they are doing now at all.

It took Disney 5 years to build a standard school lunch room...and Universal an entire theme park, 3 hotels and new roads.

30th anniversary of The Lion King and a lot of people would never even know it because Disney hasn’t done really anything to promote it.
Before the Bean Counters took over they would have had commercials celebrating it, rerelease’s of the original movie. Throughout the Parks they would have been advertising its anniversary.
What a catastrophic disaster these Bean Counters have caused. I want “The Walt Disney Company” back.
In that example I doubt "bean counters" had anything to do with it, and more likely their push for DIE nonsense has made them afraid to promote a property that will trigger the hell out of that group.
@@edwardlenovo3240 Speaking to that we did cancel a vacation to Disneyland a couple of years ago and have not returned because of them allowing men to wear women’s dresses and work inside the Park.
They of course have the right to do that, but they’ll never get any of our hard earned money when they allow that.

Hospital lobby is a perfect way to describe CommuniCore Hall!!! I’ve spent a lot of time in hospitals in the last month so I can totally see it. Such a bummer for EPCOT.

They've priced the normal family out of their parks. That and the "up-charge" for every damn thing... shuttle from airport...gone; parking at the hotel...pay me; parking at the park...pay me; as soon as they can figure out a way to charge for the shuttle bus, skyliner, and monorail service around the resort, they will. Next will be paying for parking at Disney Springs...
Parking at the Disney hotels is free, and theme park parking is free for Disney hotel guests. I do miss Magical Express though.

As Universal creates Epic Universe, Disney gets rid of one of the most popular rides at Disney and replaces it with a craptacular ride based on a mid movie that doesn't even have the best part of the movie in it, the villain. Rest in Pieces Disney.

I agree Dev. This is disappointing and honestly, Disney is so lost right now when it comes to trying to re-theme their older areas of their properties. It's sad because a lot of us want Disney to be unique and special but its slowly turning into everyday corporate building theming

Keep in mind that the Disney Co has been de-theming various hotels & spending millions of bucks to re-do perfectly fine attractions (Splash Mt). When they re-did the structures in Ft Wilderness themed to log cabins to now look like cargo containers, I knew the inmates were running the asylum.
I love the way you are trying so hard to hold back what you REALLY think about Communicore. You were honest to a point. 5 years. Come on Disney. With all of the issues Disney is having and the prices increasing, no wonder attendance is dropping. I also love AK and Nomad. Thanks Dev.

Why isn’t Animal Kingdom staying open later like they did before Covid? Isn’t that why they put all the cool lights in Pandora? I know there’s no night time show but I would like to be there riding rides at night. Maybe it’s just me.
Hilton & Marriott spaces look a lot better than the Communicore Hall.
You hit the nail on the head, "It doesn't feel like Disney in here." Everything they have done over the past few years has been cheap and lackluster while raising prices. Breaks my heart...I've gone every year for the past 20 years. Just went in May, this will be my last trip for a while 😔

If I'm being honest. Disney has lost its' luster. If I'm doing a family vacation I might do a day or two at Epcot or MGM. Just for the nostalgia. Spending a couple grand, I'm going to Universal and will definitely pay for Epic.

It looks like they were attempting a futuristic, minimalist look. It certainly doesn’t make me feel any magic. Thats too bad. The concept art of what they originally planned looked pretty cool.

Your laugh was the same laugh I had when I first saw Communicore Hall. I hope it evolves into more things. I was hoping to get a museum like feel showcasing Epcot History but you know the Disney executives would rather have the park guest spend more time in the merch shops.
To be fair Dev, even if given a bigger budget, I still don’t have faith they would knock it out of the park with anything they do.

Agree. One of Walt's directives back in the day was to "plus it" ... take an idea and push to do something extra with it, make it something beyond ordinary. Not happenin' here at epcot...Or anywhere for that matter

Hi Dev, My family is from Montreal and we have been going to Disney multiple times per year for the last 15 years. My brother is on his way back home today and he told me that he is done with Disney. It has lost the magic and the way they destroyed Epcot, our favourite park, has put the nail in the coffin. Luminous is an absolute bore, the wait times for the good rides are ridiculous and the prices for everything are absolutely out of control. I think we’ll step away for 5 years and pray for real change to the woke ideology that has become Disney.
During the opening media event - those walls were removed and food windows were opened up for that - I agree that it will look different when the festivals are going - it will have more function and atmosphere - but in between it sure beats eating off trash cans for a nice cool place to eat and take a break

I agree with you so much. Everything you said is how I feel about Disney and Epcot. It is unfortunate that the older imagineers and those in charge from years past are gone and retired. Because the generation that is in charge now do NOT have a clue to what Disney should be and was! I still love to come down there, but I am not a happy guests as I used to be.
Universal gets rid of nostalgia, too. Only one ride still exists from when it first opened… E.T. I loved the park when I went there in 1992 and 1999 and was actually disappointed when I went last year because all my favorites were gone and all they have now are roller coasters and nauseous screen rides that throw you around for the most part now. ☹️

I wish Disney would listen to the fans more. It seems like they are ignoring basically everything people have been saying the past few years and just doing their own thing.

its a mixed use building. it needs to be a blank slate to accommodate any overlay. the true test will be how it functions during a festival

In the CommuniCore Hall should at least have USB plugs its 2024! ..It's a nice place to relax, but It would be nice if there were more couch-like furniture, maybe because people would probably sleep there, Disney I am sure wanted to be a space to sit..

Disney spent all their money on that Galactic Star Cruiser experience. Now they're broke. The New CommuniCore is like the Willy's Chocolate Experience in Scotland.

Disney has dropped the ball in design especially with this, avengers campus & galaxy edge are all very lackluster and uninspiring.
Heat is a huge factor, people can't afford these vacations and lots of people just waiting until next year because the new Universal park will be opening .

Honestly, this is me sincerely hoping everyone stops going to Disney for the next 3-5 years so that I can enjoy my time there while everyone gets upset at the wait times and lines with no shade, and ridiculous wait times for food at Epic Universe. I find it hilarious that they are comparing an open park to a park that still literally has no walkways and has not seen a single visitor. Of course someone’s imagined anticipated experience will be better than a real lived one.
And I say this as someone who plans to visit EU, but am mostly hoping it doesn’t suck as bad as the current UO parks. I’m waiting to see if everything lives up to the promises instead of just assuming they will.

@@sha2596 a lot of people are setting themselves up for disappointment when epic Universe opens. There's no way a park can live up to such high expectations. At the end of the day, Epic Universe will just contain more IP themed attractions which is essentially Universal Studio's brand.
@@sha2596yep this me too. I want ride times to plummet and dining reservations to be less stressful to book. I have family and friends that still want to go disney abd I go to the parks 5-6 times a year. So the more people hate disney to hate disney and go to universal to spite them, be my guest.

As much as I appreciate more sitting areas and air conditioning, it does look like a standard convention hall. Basic and easy to adjust to whatever venue it is being used for at the time. The sad part is with all of the talents Disney has internally, would would think they would have decorations that can be rotated as needed.

It looks like it was rushed and slapped together with cheap furniture and no charm. How long did this take to do? I haven't seen it in person yet, but I am going in Sept and I have 1 day for Epcot.
This space is meant to be all purpose, so that they could design it for different events, festivals. So it makes sense to have a blank canvas between events.

Communicore hall is what a convention area looks like between conventions, empty. It should be closed between events, like any convention center

They need shading in the new area for dinoland. Its way too hot and that black pavement radiates heat!
I wish they had that area when I went and had to wait all day for a return time to ratatouille. I had to keep going to the hall of presidents to find somewhere to sit air conditioner and relaxed. I was so tired and exhausted from having to wait until a non specific time for the new ride. I could take a nap right in one of those seats. Epcot to me never had enough seating or tables, especially during events. I had to eat standing up during the holiday festival. That’s one of my pet peeves about Hollywood studios too, all that food and walking but hardly anywhere to sit. I hate having to leave early because its to tiring to stay any longer.
You are spot on! Enough with the Virtual Queue for Guardians and Tron. Small crowds deserve to ride as much as possible.

The argument the dude made with the cabbin being old and moldy. Sure, but you know what you do? You refurb it, replace it, still make it look like a cabin 😂 no excuse on why it didn't have to go back to the same classic design.
Oof. I’ve seen hospital waiting rooms that look more inviting than Communicore Hall.
I believe Disney made the places bland so people could recharge themselves for 15-20 minutes and leave so others could come in. They don't want people to "camp out" so others can't find a place.

My family just got back from our 4th of July week Disney trip, and you are so right!!!!! There is literally no one in the parks right now!!! Some of the biggest attractions were 50 minute standby waits. So weird! And my family is not a fan of the cheap, sterile, Hilton-style everything is turning into, either. I am sad and desperate for the unique, immersive, magical theming to make a huge comeback. Totally agree with you!!🥹
Also, I love The Boneyard in Animal Kingdom too! So much happy nostalgia! Really hoping Disney begins to get back in touch with long-time Disney families.🥹

As someone who was a passholder for years, this makes me outrageously happy to see Disney on the losing side of decisions they’ve made. When they eliminated fast passes, that was the beginning of the end for me. They alienated passholders with that move because those free fast passes were a huge advantage. Now unless you want to shell out even more cash, you’re just spending most of your day in lines. Couldn’t justify paying for the passes anymore. Love seeing the parks slow. Hope they’re realizing the mistakes they’ve made.
That quick chuckle at 10:58 in the video said so much. That really was the best way to sum up just about everyone's feelings toward the new CommuniCore building.
I accidentally walked in there on our trip last week while we were hiding from the rain while I looked at the map. I genuinely had no idea what that room was for 😂😂
