    I needed some resin, saw some at Walmart while I was shopping, and figured I'd give it a try. It was a Rustoleum brand of pour on epoxy. I used it in a mold, and my keychains came out super bendy. I managed to stiffen them up pretty good, with several coats of casting resin.
    It might be fine for keychains to be bendy, but I didn't like it. Who knew there were different kinds of resins? Lessons learned... the hard way, of course.

      What are you going to do with your bendy resin I got some soft UV resin so but I don't know what the best use of it. Imagine if you wanted to mold it and then put it on a cylinder or something that might be valuable but if it stays flexible can't make a bowl or anything out of it. Hhhmm

    I have a question…I know this video is a couple years old but I cannot for the life of me find the answer anywhere to this! My sister and I have been making resin things like coasters and bookmarks and trays and things for about a year and a half. We recently we had some of our things at a craft fair and it was outside on a sunny day. And things that we had made a year ago and were solid as a rock started to bend and droop in the sun!! Why is this?! We knew sunlight could cause color change but had no idea our things would start to bend!!! Is there any way to ensure this doesn’t happen??? We had products at the fair made with 2 different resins, one was a quick cure resin and the other was a deep pour slow cure resin, and products made with both were bending.

    man, I've been using Art Resin to make some casts. In some molds, the resin hardens fine, in other molds it never really cures right. Unfortunately I put a lot of time and effort into some charms vs some bigger, easier pieces (that cured fine), and it was the time-consuming pieces that ended up bending lol. I sprayed mold release in the same molds that weren't curing right because the resin was sticking to them (but not other molds). Didn't bother to look up how appropriate that was lol but I suspect this last batch may have soaked up the mold release 😭😭 I'm wondering if I sand the pieces down and coat them in a fresh resin bath, it'll seal the soft resin in hard resin? xD I don't want to throw them out

    Question…….
    I want to make what is called a “bonk rock” it’s a term Onewheelers use to describe a small rock shaped hump or bump or volcano shaped or ramp shaped lump to place on the ground to ride over with a Onewheel which is like an electric skateboard/hoverboard to provide a way to hop both vertical and horizontal just ever so slightly lol hope this makes sense there’s lots of videos of Onewheels using pocket bonk rocks…people sell bonk rocks but they are pricy I have no clue what they are made from and is what I’m trying to find out or at least pointed in the right direction..I was thinking it’s some sort of flexible resin is what comes to mind.. these would be a created using molds obviously since bonk rocks need to have some height and are pretty thick depending on what you like and different shapes. a flat bottom to place on the ground. is a resin capable of this? It would be run over by wheels placed on dirt on asphalt sidewalks. I can’t have it sliding so it needs to hold place decently I would expect it to move s bit and hold shape but it would not be hard as a rock it would need to be slightly bendy and flexible but not like ballistics gels type of squishy.. no chipping cracking or breaking from the abuse of being run over and hopped off of.hoping it would have a little weight to it as well. Again all I know is from what I’ve seen on bonk rock websites and videos and I just can’t pay 60 bucks for a jelly looking bonk rock.. I’m a total diy person and always try to find a work around when I can.. and I feel these would not be something technically complicated and could make my own and probably many more if I made it myself.. just need to know what it’s made of without having to actually pay for one lol..These rocks I’ve seen seem clear or with colors mixed in each in they say are different no two the same not sure what else could be used other than some sort of clear bendy flexible resin… does anyone have any tips or idea what these are made of? if so where can I buy?👀

    This is a great video, thank you! However, in my case, I used the same resin for everything I made. It was my first time ever. Anything I made in blue is completely solid like it should be. Everything else is bendy. First thing, there was some that was not exactly 1:1, since I didn't set the silicone mixing cup on a flat level surface to pour it. I held it and poured with the other. That might have done it. OR, could it be I might have used too much pigment and/or mica powder in the other colors. Any ideas?

    The casting resin can also be bendy, if you got the mixture wrong. If you use less hardener, than you should, it also can come out bendy... it tends to harden a bit over time, but it usually stays a little flexible.

    So could you help me by telling me what resin/product i should use if I want my molded piece to be bendable. I have been searching forever to figure this out. I love the quality of a resin piece but if I want to adhere the piece to make a decorative egg I need it to be flexible to take that curved shape. Please help. Can't seem to find anyone with the answer.

    • @ResinObsession

      Have you thought about applying the resin directly to the egg?

    • @margaretbraucci7882
      @margaretbraucci7882 2 роки тому

      @@ResinObsession Actually that's exactly what I did once. I had made a particular delicate scroll piece that was still a bit pliable when I removed it from the mold so I placed it directly on the egg and gently taped it on. I hoped it would finish "hardening" and I could remove it, with the curve still intact, and paint it. When I removed the tape I discovered it wouldn't come off the egg! Well luckily that worked out fine anyway, just made painting alittle more difficult. But it would be nice to be able to make a bunch of pieces ahead of time to use on curved surfaces.

    Flexible coasters are "inappropriate?" How so?

    • @ResinObsession
      @ResinObsession  Рік тому

      I think people have an expectation that a coaster won't bend or warp with use. I'd hate to think someone put coaster in a drawer only to get them out later and find they're in a wonky shape.

    • @mooncalf191
      @mooncalf191 Рік тому

      @@ResinObsession Bent or warped, sure. Then it doesn't sit flat. But if it remains flexible, what's the problem? Not trying to be a jerk or anything, it just seems to me that flexible resin coasters might actually be a good idea.

    • @ResinObsession
      @ResinObsession  Рік тому

      If a coaster is bendy, it's also more likely to scratch. If your coasters are flexible, and you make people aware of that, then I think it's fine to have bendy coasters.
