Wire Pass and Buckskin Gulch Slot Canyons, Utah

About three years ago a shuttle driver drove me by the trailhead for Wire Pass and told me that I should definitely check it out someday. Well it's time! I'm off to Wire Pass Slot Canyons and down Buckskin Gulch Slot Canyons as well. Join me to see if it's worth all the hype. By the way every time I've gone by this trailhead which was once three years ago and once yesterday as I drove by to the campground the parking lot was mashed full of people! Today is a Sunday so will it be worth it?

Jay, I’m so glad you got to Buckskin! It’s an amazing, majestic, magical place and you captured it with incredible results!
FYI, you can park a car at Lee’s Ferry, hire a shuttle to take you to Wire Pass or Whitehouse camp, then backpack from drop off through Buckskin and Paria Canyons back to your car. Info and permits are on the BLM website.

We headed right at the junction but ran into water within a 1/4 mile and had to turn back. So then we went the other way (north) which was very beautiful too. If we would of continued for another couple of miles it comes out at the trailhead which you passed coming to Stateline campground.

Two people died in Buckskin Gulch last year, drowned. It was two different groups a week or so apart.
