About the best video I've seen on the wiring part of the heated seat retrofit so far! Subscribed, of course once I started watching, since it details this retrofit better than any forum post or other video I've searched for.
For those running the wires in: when I did my retrofit for power seats, which is similar:
    - find videos on disassembling the lower centre console (including the arm rest, the surrounding trim of the shifter, and the trim panel that is near the LHD accelerator pedal)
    - remove the front seats from the car (again, find a video, remember to have the battery disconnected or, have VCDS to clear airbag codes)
    - remove the lower A B, and C pillar trim, and around the door ways
    - remove the carpet...
And, the trick that no one else seems to mention: make a single, cut on the carpet between the pair of dashboard support "legs" on the front tunnel, near the airbag module, toward the firewall, so you don't have to remove the entire dash to take the carpet out in one piece, unharmed.
One little cut with a hooked carpet knife will let you remove the carpet in a spot that is simple not visible once all the trim is placed back on. Just be mindful to cut the carpet and not the wiring run in around there!
Thank you for the video, this will be helpful for when I make a future retrofit to another mk4 car!

Where should be connected the black/blue wire? You connect it to the obd, but i have a problem with that - when i switched the ignition on, the half fis says that i have 100km fuel, but the needle shows 1/2 fuel tank... Shouldn't it the black and blue wire goes to fuse 5?

I've had my VW Mk4 1.9 Tdi for 3 years now .... Heated seats never worked.... Ive noticed the fuse slot is not wired so my guess is previous owner put a 1.6 petrol fuse box in it with heated seats not connected..... I will investigate further whether the 2 wires for the fuse might be hanging loose somewhere under the dash and then connect them and see what happens.... Thanks for the tip of how to access the fusebox from behind 👍

Is there a video on how to actually get the wires/harness out of my donor car

Could this job be done far quicker if I didn’t want the illumination for the lights is it the matter of plugging in the seats plugs and running the cable to the fuse box ?

Shame it seems that company discontinued making looms for anything but Porsche. I'll have to do some research.
I am really enjoying your channel, I would say I would have liked more footage of the actual "wrench work" sometimes, over a cut to finished job, even if it was sped up. On this one it's fantastic play by play, but cut on your suspension video. Im inputting purely as its would be cool to stick with you for knowledge rather than head elsewhere for that bit, because the content is superb, airbag was an example of a great cut away abc vid in a vid. The TT vs stock (non r32) mk4 comparison is the best out there even without a "how to" work through.
Cheers fella, nice to have someone from home making great content, over the usa big personalities; something culturally direct about it, no fluff if you know what I mean.

Thanks a lot, I really value your feedback 🙏🏼 you make valid points. I totally know what you mean, great thumbnail and title, great chat/storytelling, great editing skills, all to cover up no real info or meat in the sandwich. But that's a skill! and one I wish I had.

Where did you buy the wires for the heated seats on your golf?
I have the leather seats with the clip underneath the seat, but without the wiring into the fuse box
    Thanks for the video

How come you haven’t used relay 59 (the heated seats relay)?

    • @RestoDesignsnando
      @RestoDesignsnando  2 роки тому +1

The mk4 doesn't have relay 59 like the mk3's, I think the relay/s are build into switches much like the hazard light switch which has the relay build into it.
