So a spoilery history in reverse: 27:08 ~-3000 years before the game, Humanity first arrived into this world on stone ships. Fleeing the homeworld in a mass exodus after magic, corruption and demons and turned the world into a blight-infested hellscape. Today it is considered the Yonderworld. 25:20 -2100 years The city of Asparast was abandoned, the capital of the humans at the time, and a city greater than anything before. The only thing that remains are the three walls of the city, rising greater and greater the farther inside you go. "A city beyond the mountains and waves where the power was pure as snow, where Wratha was blind and deaf, lost in carefree sleep! But this was not so, because eventually wratha awoke and came after Asparast." Despite outlawing any magic except Symbolism the land became a barren wasteland. 22:26 ~-2050 years ago the city of Ambalsaber was founded. Hundreds of thousands of people migrated over the Ravens from the regions of Asparast, their goal was to make a new home for themselves in what is today Davokar. Ambalsaber would be the cultural center with Symbolism and the High Priestess Cedriana of the Order Dacothnic as a unifying force as already the people were split into various clans, lead by powerful families and factions. The human suffered greatly at the former ruler of the area, the Giant Garavarax of karvosti. Only after a peace was made between the High Priestess and the giant, giving humans the right to develop the lands provided they never develop anything to harm Karvosti, but rather gave sacrifises to the giant. The other cultural races already living there was pushed aside by the humans, giving the humans 47 little city-states to rule over. The trolls got the worst of the treatment from humans and almost sent into extinction before fleeing underground. At the same time, the giant of Karvosti would often lash out at the humans for seemingly violating the treaty to sacrifise and never raise arms against Karvosti. Two dragons would often terrorize the region as well, the Destroyer and the Slaughterer as well. The war for the resources and the region would grow more deadly as Ambalsabers powers weakened. The clans were truly split once more. 20:50 -1400 years ago, Symbar destroyed Ambelsaber, the spiritual center of the human realms. After the defeat from the giant Garavarast of Karvosti the Symbarians abandoned Symbolism in favor of more powerful magics without any of the safety measures that would later be created to keep corruption at bay. Blightmarks became a symbol of nobility and Blightbirth became a sacred sign. Symbar sought more power and lands, but the Symbolists and the Order Dacothnic of Ambalsaber stood in his way, continuing to preach mederation, temperance and the dangers of mystic powers and corruption. Their powers had been fading for a long time however, and they could not stand against the powers of Symbar. Thus Ambalsaber fell, the Empire of Symbar rose, and the Order Dacothnic joined with the empire. 19:24 -1100 years ago, the Empire of Symbar defeated their last rivals in the Davokar region. It became common to view corruption and corrupted beings as exalted over all else, with the growth of the empire, so grew the zeal for corrupted divinity. It became the norm to try and enhance and challenging oneself became necessary to retain the honor, power and status. Everything became the target of humans as they sought to prove themselves, natural and corrupted. 17:17 -900 years ago, The elves won the war against the humans, leading to the destruction of Symbar. The united forces of Elves, Spiders, Bestials, Colossi, Arch-Troll and Nature Spirits all came together to put the empire down who had their own army of Undead, Abominations, Demons and Blightborn Dragons, Less than a year before the fall of Symbar, the Emperor was assassinated. Only the Priests of Cathothnic, the priests of temperance and moderation, made Emperor Symbar realize the severity of the situation: The empire was becoming closer to destorying the world! Symbar outlawed all magical practices, Staff mages and Symbolists started patrolling the streets at night seeking to root out any and all corruption within the capital. It was too late however and the Nobles struck down their emperor and took over. 16:11 roughly -900 - -800 years ago, Davokar was started by the elves as a defense against the corruption lying there and to bury Symbaroum. With the Trolls help the corruption was tied down into the underworld. Elf-Prince Ynneanos allowed for the corrupted beasts and humans to be lulled to sleep as a reminder of why they did what they did. 15:16 -800 years, the surviving humans of Symbar returned the their ancestors homeland, covered by a wide sprawing forest. The elves refused the humans to enter the early Davokar forest so they formed the future edges of Davokar into their homelands instead. Due to the oral traditions of the clans the humans would not fight the elves to regain their old homelands. This was also where the pre-existing Witchcraft was refined into an artform, possibly with the elves, but certainly at the acceptance of the elves. 14:25 -480 years ago, the spiderfolk crawled out of the forest floor and started the Spider-human war started. Nobody knows exactly why! Power? Self-preservation? Or the risk of humans continuing their old practices? Whatever the case, the human tribes united at this threat and the first High Chieftain was established. (tbc)
I commented a while back I would enjoy a re-telling of the Throne of Thorns campaign played (or imagined how it would run) byt Sebbaa, and I think this video is a good look how epic it could turn out!
Well, the last adventure, Davokar Awakens is now out, and I have actually considered writing a novel about the campaign. (and sell it to Free League 😅) So this might happen at some point. But a project like that is a lot of work, so that will have to wait, until the book I'm working on is finished.

(That I finished at least to truly ruin the joke) I think Matthias is far too much of a controlfreak to allow it, he has mentioned it before that he seems to need to control the specific language and everything (As far as I can tell you got it well underhand), but that is the reason why there hasn't been more Symbaroum books yet. I would still support a book with all the names and places replaced for copyright purposes! I am really trying to write bullet-points for the campaign to help myself get started, and your symbaroum videos is doing a lot of the heavy lifting at the moment!

Garavax is the only giant ever mentioned anywhere in the setting. He was some kind of primordial, one of the original inhabitants of the world.
