This was by far the most informative video I have watched so far regarding the DPDT pot wiring. Most videos only show the casing with the 6 terminals for soldering, but don't show the rest. ...I went to many videos and they didn't even show the Complete wiring diagram, as you so WONDERFULLY displayed. When someone searches youtube to install a new guitar part, YOU ARE THEIR SAVIOR. Bless your heart and I will subscribe/like this video, whole-heartedly. my guitar WORKS NOW. I just need to figure how to include the 2 wires I taped together on the 2nd humbucker on the DPST switch so I can run from 1 coil from each humbucker.
btw, I am running 2 humbuckers (with 4-conductor wires, each), a dpst pot as volume for the bridge, a 500k pot as volume for the neck, and a master tone switch. [NOTE: every part in the guitar is grounded to the switch through a chain of soldering points and wires]. It works but no parallel or coil split action :\ ...There is a learning curve with guitar repair, like anything else in life.
You just saved my sanity!! Great video and clear explanations video! Now I just wait till my solder wire and new tips arrive so I can do a proper wire with my new lace sensors! If you still check your videos for comments, you rock!
im so fucking glad you made this video. i noticed my guitar wasnt producing sound unless on overdrive channel on amp and it was coming out clean. its jackson dinky js 11 with this exact schematic and noticed the middle position of the pickup switch wire had broken. using the schematic i figured out where it should connect and did a quick test while touching it to the solder point while strings were ringing and it made a sound. youre the best
Great video, I´m going for my second guitar mod (the first was just changing pickups connecting everything like it was in an Ibañez RG prestige because the switch it has is really complex for me (VLX91). In my second mod I´m changing pickups of another Ibanez and also installing push pull pots for coil splitting and different pickup combinations, the with it has is simpler, its a 5way Ibanez COR-TEX. Do you have a video of a more complex project involving a 5 way switch or super switch ?
Can you do the same diagram but with two volumes for each pickup and the coil split for each pickup also. So set up will be two 500K push-pull pots for each humbucker & 3 way switch.
@@johnheick3205 Check this out. guitarelectronics.com/2-humbuckers-3-way-toggle-switch-1-volume-1-tone/ I guess you wire a long connection from the switch to the pickups, unless you have a PRS or SG type guitar. I was curious about this too.
Why are so many people thanking the person who uploaded this? It’s just a breja toneworks reupload. (If you are reading this breja is great and def worth a look)
Confussion: Why the South Hummbucker split coil switch connects black, green and red? the black (hot) is not supposed to go to the selector, and the green/red are not supposed to go to ground when the switch gets pulled? I mean, in the same way that the North Pick up... on the other hand: white and red are not supposed to interconnect instead the green???
So, someone asked for a help with two humuckers with a three way switch and 1 tone and 1 vol (something loads of us have) and you added into the mix a push pull switch and told everyone that unless their humuckers have 4 wires it's not going to work...lol...that's so weird you added your own parameter. Quite a clear demo all the same. Thankyou. Why did you add the push pull switch?
Hello, thanks for the video! What if the volume os the push pull pot? Is the same but inverse the volume and the tone connections? Any tip would be helpful

It is basically the same, except the tone pot does not have the DPDT 6-pole connections, and you just tie off the middle pickup wires together (red & green in this video) and tape the end and tuck them away somewhere. (NOT connecting the two pickups to each other - just tying off the middle wires of each humbucker separately) That's all there is to it.
What would the wiring diagram look like if one of the humbuckers only has two wires (Gibson 57’)? Can you wire it so you can split just the one humbucker (w/ four wires) using a single volume and tone knob?
I'm using iron gear pickups but no bare wire everything is there but I have a thick black wire and a thin black wire, how do identify which is the north start earth and the bare???????
