- If you want to stop cyclists and motorcyclists, by all means. Then you also must accept any lawsuit they might bring against you. I'll leave them to the police, and additionally because it's far less dangerous than a driver doing it. I didn't end up reporting the driver videoing me on his phone, I ran out of spare time.

Red card is a lovely touch but it need the referee's whistle to get the full impact. :D
😂😂😂 a whistle would be hilarious alongside the card
Reminds me of traffic droid back from the OG days of Gaz, Mikey, and the recumbent bike. He had a traffic droid ticket he would chuck in peoples windows.
I'm hoping for a full gandalf costume and staff
And dress as a referee.
I think you might just get a little too far under people's skin with a whistle - also, it might get you closer to trouble with plod as you might be seen to be attempting to direct traffic. Years ago, I was advised to use a whistle instead of a bell, which no-one could hear. Believe me, it irks people. Badly. I just got a louder bell.
Not just on the wrong side of a *_Keep Left_* sign but also where (for pedestrians) the island is clearly marked *_'Look Left'._*
_Hopefully all pedestrians still look both ways_ Well done Mikey! 👍
That's the old wisdom vs intelligence adage:
Intelligence is knowing the road is one way but wisdom is still looking both ways before crossing.
You'd be crazy not to look both ways. Trust nobody.
The two girls who crossed clearly didn't look right.
@@phillwainewright4221 It is quite unbelievable how many people still do not take the simple precaution of looking both ways.....
Love that Gandalf is back 😂
You and I both.
My favourite too
I did miss it 😂
One thing with those vehicles sat stationary in traffic...and for quite a while in this video, including the so called "nice guy": They are blocking free passage for pedestrians using the island to cross the road. Including anyone in a wheelchair or mobility scooter who would also be relying on the dropped curbs on both sides of the road to be able to get across. How are they going to cross if traffic is sat blocking their way for a while? Even for regular pedestrians, they'd have to zig zag their way around stationary vehicles if using that natural crossing point. Would be far better if drivers thought more about this and left that area clear if they are going to be stationary.
The difficulty is that it’s not a designated crossing. It’s simply a provision of dropped kerbs and refuge area to make it easier to cross. In the same way as having random traffic islands on busy roads which allow a pesto deal with one lane at a time. The motorist is under no obligation to stop and allow a crossing to be made. At this particular it would simply be a courtesy to leave a space. If the council made it an official crossing then it would be a different matter.
@@TheGiff7 Yes I totally agree and recognize that it's not an official designated crossing. However it would be a lot more considerate and thoughtful to leave that area free for pedestrians to cross. In the same way that it would be considerate and thoughtful to leave a side street clear when queuing in traffic, even when it's not officially a "Keep Clear" or yellow box area. Indeed many motorists keep such side streets clear in order for turning vehicles to have a clear path when main road traffic is queuing and not going anywhere. So why not the same principle for pedestrians, who after all are far more vulnerable? Especially also as mentioned in my OP, some will be relying on the dropped curb to be able to cross at that point. In this video the traffic was stationary and blocking that path for a considerable time, which would significantly inconvenience a road user that relies on those dropped curbs. For example folks in wheelchairs, mobility scooters and those wheeling prams. I totally agree there is no legal obligation for motorists to leave that area clear but it's pretty inconsiderate not to, just as it would be to block a 'non Keep Clear" / non yellow box side road.
@@ibs5080what are your thoughts on this guy? By the looks of this video and him shouting “you’ll see your face on UA-cam”, he sounds like an annoying content creator rather than anything else. It’s causing more of a haste to make the cars reverse than to just let them continue
(In my opinion)
@@ibs5080 Sadly in recent years a growing number of motorists are demonstrating huge intolerance towards other road users. Especially those more vulnerable than them and see them as a nuisance. I regularly have drivers run zebra crossing before I’ve even stepped off them. Even my mums street has the entrance regularly blocked off by inconsiderate motorists. When I learnt to drive I was taught to demonstrate courtesy, care and consideration to ALL road users. It seems to me that this is no longer taught and if it is. It is quickly forgotten. In fact the old blue license booklet in Northern Ireland had Courtesy, Care and Consideration printed on page two opposite the photograph. Maybe those being taught should learn to leave a crossing area clear be it marked or not.
Great example of why it's so dangerous too.
Those ladies crossing just before the bad drivers didn't appear to look right. As they don't expect traffic from that direction.
It's beyond me why these drivers take this risk ? They could easily be involved in an RTA with serious consequences. Sadly, you can not rule out a fatality if a car hits a bike. Please keep up the good work 👏 👏
RTC* there are no accidents it’s always someone’s fault.
‘RTC, you say? There’s one good thing about it - I’ll be fine in the safety of my metal box.’😅
@@nuttyslack not if it weighs in at 44 tonnes ! 😭
@@KissTheGreat No, it's still RTA despite your silly attitude.
POLICE COUNCILS DON'T REALLY CARE THEY COULD PUT A SIGN UP CCTV £60 FINE
Glad the Nice guy in the car got to see all the action!
Was that who Mikey then reported for being on the phone? I was confused there.
@@Scottish_TV_Gold No i dont think so. The guy at the beginning was all good!
Once again well done, It would be good for the Police (appreciating they are busy and under staffed) to attend occasionally to catch the odd cyclist?
There are drivers doing 50mph+ a bit further down. That's what they should be stopping
Not the red card 😂😂 that is hilarious, good work Mikey
I don't know why I enjoy these so much. I'm not even sure I agree with what Cycling Mikey is doing, but it's damn entertaining to watch him do it.
Why don't the police have special units for things like this, and walking along busy roads at peak times to spot, record and send out fines to phone drivers. If nothing else, it would be a good money maker for them. I wish Mikey's work was like Cart Narcs where there were others doing a similar service in multiple locations.
ontop of that it would also give more people employment, and i think society would benefit from having more members of law enforcement who have a more civilian and gentle role.
The police no longer deal with this offence; it's left to the local council who clearly wouldn't have the resources.
@@chrispop99 Mikey is an unpaid traffic cop. The police are happy to let him do this, saves them doing it.
You know Cart Narcs is just one guy, right? He just does different characters 😂
The money from fines doesn't go to the police
You are doing a great job for ALL the users of that street!
what was the guy with the phone going on about? Saying he was gonna report Mikey or somethin?
Not related to this clip, but my suggested responses for people who don't like what You do.
1) I assume You get more positive feedback than negative. So You can tell that to anyone who complains, "You're in the minority."
2) Anyone who says You're a snitch etc, is on the side of criminals and happy for people to get hurt and for property to be damaged.
3) This also leads to increased insurance costs for everyone. Which the complainer is also happy about...
How are numbers 2 & 3 "suggested responses"?🤷♂
Don't think I would own a car if I lived in London!
When you said Baker Street where in Baker Street? I live near by. Curious
OK I have to ask, why is it called Gandalf Corner?
You!
Shall!
Not!
Pass!
Lord Of The Rings reference.
At least nice if her to act nice after
What were the results of the drivers you reported?
im playing back to the future 3 soundtrack with this on- it makes it hilarious.
WHY WHY do the other drivers let them back in to the queue????
It would just cause more chaos if they didn't. Maybe even a spot of road rage.🤷♂
I understand your reasoning for not stopping cyclists or motorcyclists, but if you were just crossing the road, you would "look left" and not see them coming and it would be entirely their fault. There should be no argument that you stepped out in front of them intentionally to cause them to fall off, as you are crossing the road, the correct way - looking in the right direction and they are completely in the wrong and any injury to them would be their fauly completely.
The cyclists need to do better!
Yes
They think they own the bloody roads!!!
@@sirbarnabyst.johntoffingto9017 Cyclists own the roads as much as anyone else as they are the public highway. You drive only via revocable licence; your driving is a privilege and not a right. Cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders/carriages all use the public highway by right and were there before cars were. Know your place.
@CyclingMikey as a driver of a vintage Merc I must certainly do not believe I own the highway, they are property of his majesty, plus the councils, who rather too often cannot seem to be bothered to fix the potholes!! How many potholes in Blackburn, Lancashire? Not certain. But Torquay? More than enough to fill the bleedin' Albert Hall!!
On that corner Mickey,
Surely a Wand and a Cape draped over the arm would be fitting..?!
What's the torba torba thing you shout sometimes? I appreciate probably spelled wrong
Very good - tauba means repent, I'm telling him he just committed haram LOL.
So you don't dare to stop them if they fall off but you will happily step out into a moving car 🤔🤣 kinda makes no sense
I just cannot get my head round why people think it’s ok to deliberately drive on the wrong side of the road 🤷🏽♂️🤯
Do you get a yellow for beeping horn? 🟨
Do you do the same for cyclists breaking the law?
As there so many fools on the road, they should put camera up it would pay for itself in weeks.
........but it would set a costly precedent?
@@middleman9183 As I said it would pay for itself , you can read can you not.
@@kennethbowry1521 but every street would want one - you can read can you not?
@@middleman9183, only costly to those not following the rules.
Been issued ONE NIP in 42 yrs of motorised road use, and deserved it! Held up my hands, explained my mitigation and attended an awareness course. No bemoaning the camera, no moaning about it all being a money grab, I messed up & paid the price!
Part of driving is being responsible; if you cant take responsibility for your actions, dont drive
Ah, the lemming instinct. It's great to see the positive interactions.
I'd concentrate on phone drivers, there's no penalty for this.
No the blue arrow tells them which side to pass. There is a potential 3 points.
I thought you said the parks weren't going to go after these drivers now Mikey? I think I read that in one of your earlier recent videos and was severely disappointed in the authorities for their attitude.
Apparently the failing to comply with keep left offence is now civil enforcement, not Police.
they really backed off quickly when you pulled the red card, it must have looked very intimidating
And the outcome? Were they prosecuted?
There in a nutshell is why cyclists have a bad rep, riding on the wrong side without a care.
And yet you ignore all the drivers doing the same, who are far more deadly dangerous? Also, as groups of people, cyclists are more law abiding than drivers.
@@CyclingMikey I replied in the positive to an earlier vid but there is the example of why cyclists are a hot topic. Most cyclists are drivers anyway, they just choose a different persona when cycling.
These people who drive like this need to be on a minimum 5 year ban. And they have to resit the test
i actually think that's a bit harsh unless they're driving fast, i'd suggest voiding the license and having to re-take it from the beginning
If you can stop driving for 5 years you as well just stop driving anyway.
Why would they _resist_ the test ?🤔
They'd make so much money putting a camera up with automatic fines going out.
finally some gandalf again, nice one Mikey, love it!
Love a bit of the ol' gandolf corner 😅
Im sure if these videos were shown to the council/ local authority then ANPR camera would be put up !
just t think if there was a way to fine all those cycalists as well the national debt would get wiped out in 2 years
It's not the cyclists polluting our air or filling hospital beds with the victims of road traffic incidents or killing hundreds of people each year.
@@garyboyle695 whats that got to do with them braking traffic laws and getting fined for it the same as cars
🤣🤣🤣bull. It would more than likely end up in some suit pocket.

If I ever come to England im coming to that same corner like its a tourist destination like its the Niagra Falls, if you could kindly film the the surrounding behind you, want to see why 1 side is always jammed.
It's the morning rush hour, so everyone is trying to get into central London. Have a look for the Royal College of Physicians on Google maps, and then you can open streetview to see it properly.
Why haven't the police or local authority just put a camera there to photograph and fine. Think of the revenue. They had no problem doing me when I went through a poorly signed bus gate.
I 💘❤💘 these gandalfs corner videos
Fact that you don't pull of fellow cyclists and motorcyclists is disgusting. They are road users too and should abide by the highway code.
Like he said, he's on a sticky wicket. If he tried to stop them and they came off their cycle/motorcycle they would claim it was Mikey's fault. He could end up being sued.
They think they own the bloody roads!!
@@CB-xr1eg Utter nonsense. How will they fall off their bike at such slow speed? He's just looking after his own and picking on the motorist. This attitude just makes those cyclists feel even more entitled than they already do.

Good work, however you must do one from time to time of bad cycling as well. Not sticking up for the motorist or cyclist.

Kudos to you. Nice conversation with a fan. Reminder to the bicyclists. Best of all, the bicycle goes with you into the pedestrian crossing area. Very well thought out, chronicled on UA-cam for their inevitable future victims. Good on you, Mikey.

A zebra crossing there would help a lot.
Should stop motorbike not just cars
Thought I was seeing things at first with the red card lol.
More Gandalf please.
Mate, why are you doing this when the police are not enforcing it. Don’t put yourself at risk.
Who has this much time to just sit in traffic?
I do.
Not me, which is why in London I mostly use my bike. No time to find parking either.
That's why so many people reach for their phones in long traffic jams: it's just so boring. Most of the time of any journey is sitting there waiting for the lights to change or a junction to clear and hope you will actually have a chance of getting through. I think it is why there is so much anger towards cyclists it is not just that, we don't pay directly for our journeys (*), it is that we don't have to sit in the queues - even those of us who don't run red lights get to slide past the row of immobile drivers
(*) at a coffee and cake every 50 miles l actually pay more per mile on long journeys than I do in my electric car
@@CyclingMikey exactly!
@@SteveLoughran Bored in a traffic jam so they reach for their phones? What did people do before mobile phones were invented? Have a snooze, read the paper?🤷♂🤷♂
Good job Mikey
While I appreciate what you're doing, you need to decide, you said you don't stop bikes or motorbikes. You either stop everyone breaking the law or none of them, otherwise it is called discrimination.
Good luck with telling other people what to do on the internet. Stop expecting other people to take the risks and do the work you want done. If you want something done, then go do it yourself.
