Some people have had issues making their mod work/show up. Here are some common checks/fixes you should look out for: - Check your file paths! They can be the reason why your heads don't appear. - GR2 and DDS need to be in ALL CAPS in your Head file names. This is important! - PAK folders NEED to have "[PAK]_" in front. Don't forget the underscore or the head won't show!! I will add to this as issues come to my attention. You can also ask in the comments here and I'll try to help as much as I can!
This video was a Godsend. I've been putting it off so long with heads finished, just sitting in a folder. I felt so intimidated to do this and now I can finally make them standalone and share. Thank you
Hello! I just wanted to comment to say thank you. XD Your video helped me understand a lot. Without your explanation I could not have released the mod! Thank you so so so much!
Ive been doing this for almost 3h now and at 19:16 when I went to find the heads , I only got the files from the downloaded head...no human or elf heads show up 😭😭 Im so done yall I just wanted to make a nice head that doesnt have 300 cc lip fillers
Sorry for the late reply. The GR2 files are 3D meshes exported from Blender. The tutorial assumes you already have those done. The process is very involved so I recommend joining a BG3 modding discord and asking there if you want to do it.
Thank you so much for this! Are there any tutorials on how to do the textures/maps? I can edit meshes in Blender but have no clue on how to do textures.
I suggest taking a look at Volno's Texture Toolbox to get the textures on Blender and maybe try to modify them there? Otherwise most people usually just cobble vanilla textures together in photoshop or gimp. If you search "bg3 wiki texture formatting" on google you'll also find a wiki page that might help you with editing textures
Hi! Firstly, thank you so much for the tutorial! Some questions, if you don't mind. :) All works, but I have issue with the wrinkles, they look extreme on cutscenes, and enabling "_WrinkleWeights..." and changing volume in "Heads Merged MaterialBank" doesn't help. What I do wrong?
Hi! You might want to change the WrinkleMap in conjunction with the Less Wrinkled Expression mod www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/1058 As for how to change the wrinkle map, go in your merged and change this UUID: 8f1ca456-8679-1a92-f7e6-338e25fbef4f (do CTRL+F to find it) to this one: 4f3851eb-0ecf-9cf0-c7c0-3059651498f3 Hope that helps!
Oh boy, I can't find information about it. When I try to reposition the bones of the head so that the facial expressions are displayed well, I just can't export the head. An error pops up that says: "No vertex groups to operate on". If I don't change the bones, then everything is perfectly exported and works in the game. Please tell me if you know what to do.
@@rhymewitch Hi, moving bones is more complicated than that. You need to process the armature for that. Here is a guide on how to adjust a head armature to a modded head GR2 by Jerinski: docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1eMBz7hbW0yhG0okIRwHL7soEeddvkFVV6rkXpgtRAYo/mobilebasic?pli=1 Alternative link: wiki.bg3.community/en/Tutorials/Visual/mrboneswildguide
I have the error of "The 'node' start tag on line 87 position 10 does not match the end tag of 'children'. Line 101, position9." I have no idea what any of that means lol
That means there is an opening tag that is not properly closed by a closing tag I suggest scrapping the whole file and redoing it carefully step by step as that kind of thing is difficult to spot and fix if you don't know how coding works 👍(and you could be fixing it wrong)
