Can't wait to see that new Schrade barlow. That's good lookin'. I have that same 83 stockman in brown but mine is "pocket worn". I'll have to send you a picture of it.
6OT is 6 Old Timer. I like the Stockman, but I only have about 4, though the 2 TEWs I have are significant pieces in my collection as they retail for the pair is over £700 ($1,000)! This one of yours is a stunner!
I've seen your TEW's! not only are they significant in price, They have to be physically the largest I've ever seen. one day I'm going to surprise you with a MOP TEW LW Barlow!
Thanks Rusty, Sometimes I buy a knife for strictly investment reasons, especially when I come across a great deal. But I have to say, This thing is much sweeter than the pictures on eBay showed it to be. It's one of those knives that cameras will never do it justice. I wish everyone could see it "in person"! ✌️
Very nice looking stockman, and interesting bit of info on the x marks on the barlow tang. I like your spilled blood color referencing too. lol Bet you can't get a sample of that color at home depot! BTW the OD green boker looks great, can't wait to see the video on that one. Cheers, my friend.
Yeah David, I learned that from our brilliant subscriber Stuart Harvey - Schrade had what's called a "factory seconds" shop, which is where they would sell their "defective" knives to employee's & such. They would scribe the Tang with XX over the markings. The kicker is, these "seconds" were well sought after, kinda like a coin that had been double struck. I bought my "seconds" barlow on eBay, with bidders clearly seeing the pin chip & no box - long story short, I won at $61 shipped to the door. Had no clue it was something that is probably more rare than a "clean" Heritage knife - Schrade's Quality was top- notch, their highly skilled artisans didn't F-Up often. Pretty Cool! I bought it for a user because of the chip - but now it's a collectors' piece! lol. Yes, That OD canvas micarta on the Boker expedition is gorgeous! teamed up with a brushed brass bolster & slightly darkened acid-washed blade is a combo that stands out for sure.. Let me tell ya, Boker has been killing it lately. I've been bored with GEC's stuff lately, They need to get someone in there with fresh Ideas!!! Pronto! 😂🤣😂 David, If you adjust the color settings on your end (if possible) you will see how magnificent these bone covers are on that Stockman. TCMF✌️
It's very uncommon, from what I've heard - it adds many hours from their top craftsman to get everything to fit flush. If it was quick & easy, all traditional knives would have it. ✌️
A recessed tang is a good thing. I like the lack of etching in the XX rejected one and agree the flawed pin is not a problem at all, a lovely knife. I like the bolsters and the serpentine shape, not sure I knew that description before. The dark red bone knife is a good size too and I like the three blade shapes as well. Thanks for showing how good Schrade Heritage knives are. Perhaps you could reference red handled knife colours to a standard paint chart, which I discovered they use in the food industry Quality Control for consistency of jarred curry sauces; though I like the spilt descriptor, you are a natural for radio broadcasts.
What color did you see Stone? Rhino54 says it may just be my equipment.. because on his phone the knife was Red. He didn't think there was any issues on the final product.
@@Warthogg1 I saw red, a deep red - I only mentioned the colour chart as I wouldn't have thought of using it to reference colours. I can't remember which knife it was, but it was supposed to be red and that one showed up pink but i twas a long long while back. This one came out fine, no issues at my end.
Okay Thanks Stone.. That's good to know, I'll keep asking around! lol..You & Rhino saw deep red, yet Tony saw a raspberry red - which was kinda of like what I was seeing. I know I referenced pink in the video, but it wasn't as bad as some other red knives that I have shown. So it may be depending on who owns what equipment. In fact the pictures the seller put up were not very accurate either. Thanks again Buddy! I'll keep trying to work it out - but I'm glad you got to see it in it's true color..just beautiful covers in my opinion.
Wow!! That is a nice looking stockman! I have also been thinking stockman knives, I have some videos coming in January on some stockman knives. Thanks for showing it!!
Thanks for letting me know my friend! It's a pattern that I don't have many of, so it will be nice to preview what you have coming, maybe give me some ideas on which direction to go. TCMF✌️
Thanks Larry, It's one of those knives that look so much better in person, even the pics on eBay didn't do it justice. When I first saw it in person, I couldn't believe how sweet it truly was! ✌️
Thanks Paul, It seems like forever that I was holding off on buying a Prime - I have a friend who has 3 & has been telling me how great they are. Then when Boker came out with this Black Burlap & acid washed tool steel version, I finally broke down. Didn't realize how pricey this version is, but I'm glad I made the investment.. seems really durable & the action on the spring is unbelievable. It's my "go-to" knife now. You're gonna love the Expedition, it's very stylish to say the least - especially if you're a brass enthusiast! Take Care My Friend ✌️
Maybe the "Pink" wasn't as intense Rhino, but it should have been a deep dark red..the best description would be blood red, (from someone with alot of Iron & oxygen in their blood, healthy blood)..Is that what you saw on your end?
Hmmmm. That's it Rhino - and more appealing than my bloody description! lol. I'll ask around, you may be on to something - could just be my lame phone & my problem! Thanks Buddy - Cheers!
@@Warthogg1 Hope i helped. Different colour saturation levels on different screens make a lot of difference. Have you tried adjusting that. That yellow effect caused by blue is crazy, that i don't understand. All the best.
Thanks Rhino, There is 3 saturation settings - low - med - high I've tried all 3 & the lowest setting works the best, but still have issues..All the other settings are preset with no adjustment... color, tint, contrast, etc. I've sent emails to Motorola asking for software updates to correct the problem - Their answer "we're working on it".. So, that tells me they know of the issues, hopefully they can find a cure..lol TCMF✌️
That is a beautiful stockman . I picked up an Ulster Boy Scout knife today at the local second hand store . Do you know anything about when they were made ? Has the clip on the bail and the brass belt loop . Sweet piece . Could use a clean up but has no flaws that I can find .
Hey OKG, Great find! Ulster knives were manufactured in Ellenville NY. The Tang Stamp Progression is: Ulster Knife Co. 1876 - 1941 Ulster Knife 1941- 1984 Ulster USA 1984 - 2004 (these dates after 1941 may be slightly wrong..lol) basically after 1941 All Ulster knives were made by Imperial knife company. The original "Ulster" knife company dissolved in 1941 & Imperial-Schrade took over the name, but Schrade only built higher end knives under the Schrade name - while Imperial was tasked with building the mid to lower end knives, using Imperial & Ulster tang stamps. The most valuable Ulster knives will have the "Ulster Knife Co." Tang Stamp. (1876-1941) ***This link may be better help - It logs all boy scout knives with the Ulster name www.scoutknives.net/index.php/boy-scout-knives-1/ulster Good luck my friend! Either way - Boy scout knives are cool as beans!
I found it . Ulster USA . 1963-1979 . I'm very excited to have it . I didn't realize Ulster was making scout knives at the same time as Camillus. Thought it was going to be my oldest scout but alas it is still my early production Imperial. Thanks for the help .
Oh No Pete! You broke your oath..I still haven't bought a new knife in December. Anyway, I don't think I own any Colonial knives, I have a couple Imperial's - Which are kinda the same thing. Both are made in the USA, but are considered lower end knives - Still better quality than the China made crap..It should be a good worker knife & I love the "electrician knife" pattern.
Hey brother, Very cool knives - but unfortunately it's a buyers market right now. I've been watching knives on eBay selling way under value...bad economy means less buyers willing to shell out cash. Anyway, I paid $65 for mine. But saw some in the same NIB condition sell for $100+. If yours is in like new condition with box, you could fetch anywhere from $50 - $125 in an auction. Sorry I can't narrow it down more for you. I can leave with wise words from my appraiser - "your knife is worth what someone is willing to pay for it"😆 Have a great weekend buddy👊
