- This old house was built in the late 1800’s. The original house was a simple brick house but then converted and remodeled into a much larger Victorian house with lots of other styles blended into the architecture like craftsman style porch and art deco fireplace mantels! Beautiful old historic house! Thanks for watching hope you enjoy!
This neglected beauty deserved so much better! Such a spacious, wonderfully detailed home. I feel so sorry for her. Thank you, Kappy. These old houses have a friend in you!
Craftmanship of these old homes should be preserved instead of torn down for cheap houses that aren't ever going to be worth 1/8th of what these old homes are made of. Years ago, craftsmanship in America was class and built to withstand the tests of time. Today, not so much. Thanks again Kap for a great video of a once grand old family home.
What a magnificent home! I hope it knew a lot of love and laughter. Compare it to the $500K to $700K shacks that are all garage seen today-ugh! Around here, they bulldoze out woods and habitat to build those characterless things. Sigh...Thanks. Kappy, hi Ruby! Wonderful, as always.
Sadly that will probably be the end fate of this house! Whole area was being built up with subdivisions! House is probably in its final days! Thanks for watching! :)
Such a grand home! A large family must have lived here initially. The woodwork is beautiful! Thanks Kappy! The homes you bring us are so amazing!! I wish we could see what these homes looked like back in the day compared to today. Can’t wait for the next beautiful find! Stay safe Kappy!
Much appreciated for the kind words always!! Agreed! This would’ve been quite a house when first built I’m sure! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
What a shame, what a beautiful house it must have been. Makes me sad to see places like that, but I also do like the urban exploration videos. Except the wood, everything else is in a lot better condition than I have seen in a lot of other buildings here, brickwork seems fine. Still a place you could revive.
It is such a shame a beautiful home like this wasn’t kept up. Definitely a family with some money owned this years ago. Great find Kappy!
Sadly will probably end up torn down as well! Whole area of maryland was being heavily developed! Shocked this place was still around! Thanks for watching! :)
It's such a shame such a big beautiful house is sitting abandoned and rotting down wish someone would save it and restore it.
I am same way ,I think or assume no one wants to try to spend the time and amount of money it would take to restore or Rehab this big house since no one knows how long it's been abandoned and how much rotting or hiding damage there is ,wish some one would rehab it but no telling if it would be cost effect to or tear it down
Out with the old, in with the new. This home is too far gone, it’s called PROGRESS.!
@@chrismarkes5488 surprising how callous some can be. The men who built that house took pride in their work. Not like the trash we buy today. I say regard the old & out with the new!
There is much to consider when restoring an old home. Not least of which is what the surrounding area is like.
@@apocyldoomerIt’s not progress when newer houses are built with worse materials, and will be gone within half the time of this home.
We have to keep in mind that the past is the past. Back when people had 7 to 12 children, they needed a large home if they had the means to build it. Our homes we build today are for our needs and/or luxury if we have money. But they are no more than that. I don't think any home is build to burden posterity with. Needs/taste/personalities/society changes with each generation and it is a burden on a family to hang on to something that has outlived its purpose. Even the castles of the old country were not built to last forever. They lasted because they were necessary fortification from invading armies or rival clans. Beautiful explore. I always enjoy your "last minute" look at houses on their last legs. You briefly breathe life through the walls and spaces.
That is true!! My mom was the last of 11 children and the house grandpa and grandma lived in was a very big Victorian. When the children were gone the upstairs was turned into an apartment and they lived on the main floor. It has long been gone now but I miss being there
Your camera work is great...I get motion sick watching some of the other explorers! I also like that you appreciate the workmanship of these old houses.
Too kind of you too say! Really try and make a video I’d want too watch as well! Thanks for watching!! :)
Thanks Kappy, I really like this house, I think it cost a lot to build, not many houses have a basement under the porch! That's a lot of work for sure! Some really nice woodwork as well, I hope this house gets saved.
I hope it’s saved as well but developments popping up all around doesn’t look good for the house sadly! Been empty for over 20 years now! Thanks for watching! :)
Love how the sunlight peaks into the house in different areas and brings back some sense of warmth that used to be.
Great observation! Definitely gave it a warmer vibe! No boarded up windows either so lots of light! Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks Kappy. What an elaborate house. The little room with the pass through window was probably a butlers pantry. Even the back stairway was ornate.
I love old houses, the craftsmanship is beautiful. To bad they cant be restored. History for sure. I would love to know if walls could talk what they would say! 👍😘
This home has seriously withstood the test of time. Still standing although all the windows are broken, the roof and floors are caving in the house still stands. I love the wall paper in the hall with the butterflies and flowers on it. That Leonard fridge in the basement is from the 40's - 50's Have a great day
Great observations!! Much appreciated for sharing the knowledge on the fridge! Very cool! Had no idea! Thank you for watching! :)
Kappy, that was a truly an extraordinary home, and the quality of the woodworking was so superb that it lent that air of warmth to the home that you felt and sensed. As someone who has designed and built furniture and tables for homes made out of Teak and Oak I know exactly how you felt, because I felt it just by watching. Man Kappy, that house was one of my all time favorites of all the homes you have wisely chosen to share with us, but also distressing. Seriously, you have exquisite taste in homes, know them inside and out, and all the various styles that are lost on me. Kappy you are so gifted in what you create it is an honor and a pleasure to tune in every week. Thank you so much Kappy, and have a Great Week!
That is too kind of you too say! Really appreciate that! Makes it all worthwhile knowing others enjoy too see these old Forgotten places as well! Thank you very much!! :)
Aw, this one left me feeling quite nostalgic. I grew up in a very similar 2 3/4 story Victorian farmhouse. It was smaller than this one, but the woodwork and architectural details were very similar. You made me feel like a kid again! 😊
What beautiful, beautiful woodwork - I think that's why the house feels so warm, welcoming. It's not hard to imagine what this place looked like in it's grand old days!! Thank you Kappy.
Oh wow! If walls could talk there would be plenty of wonderful stories to tell. The woodwork and wall paper still tell theirs while others not so much. It boggles my mind how something can be on the national register of historic places and left to die. Someone somewhere must know of a computer program where these homes could be brought back to life! That would be so cool! Thanks for this amazing place! ❤️
They used to have a show called if walls could talk. It was a extreme good show but it didn't last.
This amazing big old house would have been pretty spectacular in it's time, loved all the panelling and pillars. So pleased you didn't fall 8 foot into the basement, we need you to keep safe being the very best explorer on the Tube,❤
That was a well loved, beautiful home with lots of love and good memories. I'm sure the people would be mortified if they could see the deteriorated shape it is in now. But it was there for them and gave them shelter when they needed it.
Kappy, you mentioned the house has a warm and inviting feel to it and I too felt that earlier, while you were downstairs and I even invisioned children living there in their loving home...
I don't understand why people leave such a beautiful place,it should have been kept up ,the columns, that beautiful porch ,balcony, windows I love the whole thing.I can imagine how beautiful it was.Sad now unless someone else has the means and sees what could be again.👍❤️
I could cry! 😢 So much beautiful craftsmanship wasting away. Be safe and thanks for sharing
Thx 4 sharing. Luvd this place.
It was beautiful in its day. So many rooms.
Never understood why family members dont step up & take care of places.
Maybe no one is left.
Great explore
Much luv
Carry on
That house is one of my favorites. When you were on the porch I held my breath; I was terrified you'd fall thru. Great find Kappy.
I didn’t even realize there was such a large drop under the porch lol! Thank you for the concern and watching! :)
I love these big old homes shame they are not practical anymore
What a grand house this used to be. I would love to see photos from its earlier days.
Me too! I’ve certainly looked! Thanks for watching! :)
I felt good vibes too. One of my favorites that you’ve shown.
Incredible house. The brickwork looks as new as when the house was built.
Brick houses sure are built too last! Brick or stone sign me up haha! Thanks for watching!
I totally agree, warm and inviting!!!
I've said it before... just imagine it back in its hay day. Beautiful
I love this house..I cant believe someone would just let it rot.. it still has the old push light switches.....it could be so beautiful again....Thanks for the video
What a place! This one was for someone influential. Pictures of it back in the day would have been great to see. So much happiness left behind for mother nature to take back. Thanks for letting me tag along!
Definitely built for someone decently well off back in the early 1900’s! Good point! Thank you for watching! :)
Wow, You, Can Tell This Was And Is A Beautiful Home, Wish some Wealthy person Would Fix it and Save This Beautiful Mansion...
What a beautiful old house 🏚. They don't make houses like this anymore. It's a shame that someone doesn't restore it. I love the old wood work and the fireplaces. Stay safe 👌 👍 🙏 ❤ 💓
Denise, what is there to restore, it’s too far gone. Why DON’T YOU RESTORE THIS MONSTROSITY, perhaps put your $ where your mouth is? Haha, another big typer, typing out of her azz! Too funny!
This would have been an awesome house to live in. There aren’t many, if any, houses that you say has a warm feeling. That’s cool.
I think the open space in the kitchen that looks like a window is to serve food through. The house I grew up in had one. It was also built in the early 1900’s, in Springfield, Illinois.
Did you ever notice the highway noise, in comparison of the horse & bugy age to the grand entrance to the estate.
And a tip of the hat, fro Cappy learning architecture terms.
Kappy..just want to tell you how much I enjoy watching your documentaries...i love how you stick to one type of home and not try to out do all the other explorers..at times I can't believe the lengths you go to some grand but very decayed homes...bringing your viewers the last chance for them to be seen...these older homes show craftsmanship, different styles that are almost forgotten...thank you for all you do!..one of the few explorers I subscribed to...fantasic and "cool" as you often say job well done!
Man, I hate to see these grand old homes go to waste. Breaks my heart.
That's quite a place! So sad to see the years of neglect.😢
At 1:58 it looks like a witch flew through the screen door 😂
True lol! Thank ya for watching! :)
Huskies are shoes, this is great house ,love houses like this each is different, very brave walking on those floors
Love, hate, romance, childbirth, family drama, all the emotions of the ones who lived and loved in this house. You are making sure it is not forgotten.
Thanks Kappy for showing us all these houses.
I think this is more recent than the date you mentioned, however a beautiful old home, the fireplace and built ins on the first floor look early craftsman, which would make this home very cutting edge back in the day. The panelling around the walls is magnificent and you’re right, it’s in an amazingly good original condition. There’s definitely a craftsman feel to the design, less elaborate decoration, more stream lined modern woodworking. Great find Kappy, really enjoyed this explore.
Hope someone crazy as me can save houses like this🥰thanks Kappy. Keep safe
A Grand House indeed😃 such a Beautiful piece of History you bring to us and I thank you Sir🙏
This place had such beauty and character. Too bad they let it rot!! Thanks for sharing! Peace, Kim ~
This is my favorite house to date. I agree with your comment about the feeling of the home being inviting or warm. It is such a shame it’s to the point of no return. So sad.
I LOVED this house! Wow!😍🤩🤯😱
Beautiful home. Love the untouched dark wood. A very spacious house. I really liked the silo. Picturesque with the vines tangling around it. This house feels like home.
I was so afraid you were going to fall through the floor. Another amazing house, thanks Kappy
Kappy, I appreciate your dedication. Thanks for sharing that virtual tour with us!
Love your videos Kappy...never miss one! Thanku youngin!
I just think it is awesome of the places you go to. I LOVE THE OLD CHURCH, GENERAL STORE YOU HAVE EXPLORE AND AS A ARTIST IT GIVES ME INSPIRATION TO MY WORK THANK YOU KAPPY😊
Yayyy! A Kappy video😊
Thank you for watching! :)
That was a huge house!!!
THIS is what a house should be! A great house. I see it still had the original push button light switches, probably from the early 1920's when they first ran electricity in the house. Knob and tube wires, that though very old, usually still worked fine. There were so many parts of this that could be rescued and saved and used again. It's such a horrible shame when these houses go down with everything. That upstairs summer porch was great for sleeping on hot summer nights. These old houses of this era had a lot of doors going outside and at least a couple staircases. For everyday use and back then house fires were kinds of common so everyone needed a way out!
Thanks for the tour! And I love and appreciate your attention to little details‼️
I love all your videos! Big fan here, I don't always comment, but I do watch them all!
Love going back in time with your video ❤ This house must have been so beautiful back in the days so sad to let it die like that. Thanks for the tour !👍 Stay safe ❤🇨🇦
This was a glorious home in its early days. I can hear children playing, and imagine Christmas must have been a joy to see. The make over ruined it, those red brick fireplaces were out of place for the time.
Wow what a pretty home !! This would have been very nice back in its day so sad to see it like this now ....her fate should not be this such a wonderful old home I am sure was once full of love and laughter . Great video as always Kappy !!
I bet that someone truly loved that house especially if you had that warm welcome feeling, it's definitely still beautiful in its last years of longevity.
THANK YOU KAPPY!!! I am one of the people always bugging you to use both staircases! It is MUCH appreciated!
Good for you for being brave and going to the basement! You've come a long way.Yes this home gifts a happy vibe like it was once bustling with a Large happy family
I always love your videos, you have such a gentle spirit. You stick to what you know. I Don’t have to weed through paranormal stuff, which seems to be the trend lately on other channels. You are respectful and you don’t find you have to swear to make a point.
Lots of holy cows and sheeshs but I never curse! Lol thank you very much for the kind words and watching! :)
Another excellent exploration!
Much appreciated for watching! :)
What a grand old place!
Oh poor, tired house. That porch, tho would love to have that. Wish I could have seen this place before the rot went wild. I bet it was fantastic when first built. It's still pretty stylish in design. I don't think there is any saving to it. Thanks, Kappy and you be careful out there
Well said!! Would’ve loved to have seen this place when was first built and grounds maintained! Thanks for watching! :)
Cool place. Pretty much down hill from here. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Sad but true! Wish the house had a brighter looking future! Thank you for watching!! :)
Wow that place must have been awesome in it's day glad you got to it when you did so sad it was let go
I'll bet that house was SO beautiful and stately back in it's "hey day!"
Beautiful old home. Looks like it has Lincrusta on the lower walls in the main hallway. If so this family must have had wealth as Lincrusta wasn’t cheap. It can still be bought today.
It’s a shame this house has been so neglected! 😢
It is maddening at the damage done by vandals and vagrants . Hand carved wood and all the beautiful architectural design in these historical homes is stunning. No quick Built Homes of today will ever be in any comparison to the older homes. Thanks for sharing. Please stay safe. I would love to see these in a book.
Have you ever wondered why people don't take items from these houses. For example, vintage sinks, loose columns, fireplace mantals, anything wood for that matter. Most things will be demolished at some point anyway.
Vandalism it usually means teenagers live close by because they are the sort that does them things.
It is unusual to still have unpainted woodwork. Lovely grand old home destined for the wrecking ball. What a shame.
What a big beautiful house. I bet it was gorgeous in his day. Imagine the stories it could tell. ❤
😊Awesome showing! Just love all the details you point out. Love the house. Thanks for walking down the back turning staircase 😊 Finally a house without graffiti! Thank you Kappy!!
I was shocked no graffiti too! And empty for easily over 20 years! So strange! Thank you very much for watching! :)
I loved hearing the crunching of the dried brown leaves as your walking towards the big house! Thanks for showing close ups of the wall paper. This was a very interesting house. Thanks channel!
Glad you enjoyed thank you very much for watching!!! :)
hey kappy awesome find u did it again my buddy this would of beeen a beautiful home i loved the antique beddding and the bed as welli liked the basement to coooool and alittle spooky take care man u rock always gratefully deadicated
That place would have been magnificent back in the day. Nice find 👍
Much appreciated for watching! :)
I love the downstairs in this house. I wonder what it looked like years ago?
Agreed! Was a huge basement! Shocked me honestly! Especially being under the whole porch!
Those stairs that lead up to nothing but the ceiling kinda reminds me of the Sara Winchester house.
Absolutely beautiful! Wish I could fix it up and live there!
I loved this explore thanks for taking me along with you be careful stay safe.
What a big beautiful grand old home. So sad it's left to rot. Thanks for showing.
Such a shame that people build these beautiful homes and then the heirs can't afford to keep them up. Now there is no saving this one.
Love it Kappy thank-you!
This makes me SO Kappy ❤
Heh. That's clever.
Too sweet!! :) thank ya for watching! 😁
Another great explore
I would have loved to seen this place in it's prime. So grand and opulent.
What a great find so sad it couldn’t be saved stay safe and thank you for sharing
Hey Kappy! What a huge old house. Loved all the woodwork and built-ins. Some really nice wallpaper patterns too. It would be a dream to restore one of these old places. Thanks for the look around. Stay safe! ✌️
I love your videos Kappy! 🥰❤👍This house is huge! It doesn't look near at large on the outside. Thanks for showing it so very well, every room, floor, nook and points of interest. Also thanks for sharing your vibes about it because that is always foremost in my thoughts when I watch your videos and I always wonder your feelings as you explore places because of certain positive or negative energies that have inhabited places in this world. Take care 🥰❤🙏
Love how you go very slowly detailing all the old wallpaper and woodwork details Kap, that window in the kitchen was known as a "butlers server", going through to the dining room in most old homes of the wealthy back in the day. That little staircase that was had the doorway sealed off probably went up to the attic. I wonder why they made a ceiling over it?!
I think if I caught someone de-facing a beautiful old home like this I'd have to . . . . . . .better not say it. YT will remove my comment! I bought a house built in the 1880's - we called it a 'mini mansion' As soon as I walked in to it, I got the warm feeling you spoke of. Our minds were made up at the moment, we'd buy it!
Cool old house, love the woodwork.
Hello there Knappy! GTSY Huskies were a brand of Washington sneakers. I really enjoyed the video, just wish kid's didn't break windows! I like to imagine how this home may have looked 100 years ago.👍😊
Another great home Kappy! And bathrooms all over the place. I came in looking 4 a new vid cuz I'm in bed with a cold 🤧. Ur the first place I go 4 great entertaining vids anyway! Stay safe!
Hope you feel better! Thank you very much for watching! :)
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 Thank u Kappy! B safe out there. Love ur vids, the best!
I think it's long past restoring. but i would have loved seeing it, in its heyday.
Such beautiful homes left to rot. Not many appreciate sadly.
