    Thanks for making these videos. I find it really helpful that you leave in the times that things don't work out as intended or may be caused by little bugs. These are the areas that normally get edited out but occur to all of us in real life. It's helpful to see how you get it sorted and back on track.

      I try to leave them in because "stuff happens" and if you are following along and it happens you will think you did something wrong instead of thinking, I saw that before, I know how to fix it.

    I work wood industry as supervisor over assembly and machining And going to college for computer drafting. An opening came up in my plant for an engineer ... I didn't get it but the one from a highly professional college got the position . I had to train him because his drawings did this exact mistake of positioning and of course for more accuracy we always referenced from front side of cabinet to allow stock errors in actual width of blanks . Also named part left and right to help avoid problems .Awesome job you do I am trying to go through all of your videos so I may maximize my use of freecad for my own satisfaction. I am retired and do things for fun not profit . Have a wonderful day .

      You are awesome! I forgot to say which you probably know reference points were front and botton because cnc operators went by drawings . What we had was Autocad. @@Adventuresincreation

      @@Adventuresincreation Hi, is that macro based on all componentes after the assembly quantities have been established or we need to enter the quantities ourselves?
      One more question, will be your macro available in FreeCAD add-on library?
      Thanks for your efforts and sharing throughout your experience with FreeCAD.

    I would have been interesting to see you mirror the side of the cabinet to see if the shelf holes would have aligned properly instead of moving the hole spacing to get them to align. I am unsure if FreeCad would handle the mirroring correctly in that case or not.

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  2 місяці тому

      Do you mean a mirror of half the long side?

    • @HellTriX
      @HellTriX 2 місяці тому +1

      @@Adventuresincreation in the Assembly, you used two of the side panels to build the shelf. But I wonder what would happen if you had just created a mirror of that part in part design. Would the holes have lined up and could you use the mirrored side as another part in the assembly.

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  2 місяці тому

      @@HellTriX I am sure, if I had made sure the other side was correct and then put it in the assembly as say, the left side and right side it would have worked just fine. I was trying to do it so I wouldn't have to make unique parts. There are always many ways to solve the same problem in FreeCAD.

    Hello, very nice content. I wonder if there is a way to get the cutlist and cnc cutting of the furniture you made in freecad and enter the quantity? I wonder if there will be a video in manufacturing. Thanks

    Thanks for the video and accompanying description and explanations. I'm an avid spreadsheet user and see little advantage to the variety but to each his/her own. I have a question for you. Have you fixed or know of anyone who has fixed the Easy Alias Macro? I am missing that one.

      You can apply a material and render the finish. I prefer to do that in blender. If you take a look at #8 in the series to see how to make drawings from an assembly.

    I tried to move my Task frame. I can move the task window but when I hit the toggle it disappears do u have any idea why this is happening. Im using FC 1.0.0 I’m trying to my workbench same as yours I dont know why the task panel is not staying on the left hand side

      Go to top menu select view->panels->tasks then hit the toggle button again, it should appear and stay there. You can also select the gear icon and change it to transparent mode or auto hide etc.

      Ok Thankyou 1 more question I build stuff from wood how would I start to build a wooden box

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  Місяць тому

      @@Barry-mw6tk There are lots of ways, I like to laser cut them, there is a workbench that helps with adding tabs and slots. Depends how you are manufacturing the box, but you can model the parts and put them together in an assembly. I have a video on creating the laser cut box. I create wooden boxes all the time. I just did one for personal use and assembled it in the assembly workbench, it depends on the joints you prefer too.

  • @donreid358

    I appears that both spreadsheets and variable sets are part of the original file where the parts are created. What I want is a way to set the values of the parameters in the assembly. That way I could design a part and re-use it in different sizes etc. In fact I'd like to have a parent structure that references an assembly and a set of parameters so that I could re-use the assembly too, like several cabinets of different sizes.

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  2 місяці тому

      You can change the sizes of things but they are tied to the original model as the assembly only contains references to them (linked objects). When you have the assembly open you can also have the original model open so it works pretty well.

    thanks for that interesting video. I have a small request if I might. I wanted to model a shelf to build into a car, but the back is not straight, it should not be in a slot, but with a mitre. the bottom place has a depth of 850, than it goes up straight for 150 mm. The top has only a depth of 650 mm, so the upper part of the back plane is at a certain angle, so the mitre will not be 45 degrees. how can I measure this angle, and how to assemble, I have a lot of problems with the rotation. I video about such a shelf, including drawers, 2 at the bottom and 2 in the upper part would be great

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  2 місяці тому

      You could model the two lengths then fill in the angle then dimension it. That will give you the angle.

      There's a method using a tick-stick in the physical world.
      There are several videos here in YT demonstrating how to make and use a tick-stick. It's very easy to make and use it.
      I think you'll get the idea how to be sure about that angle you are trying to determine.
