Imo I prefer the silicone strap because it kept the device smooth and flush all around, whereas the 8 has indents at the top and bottom for the separate straps

The new ambient light sensor is a game changer! My main use is just a watch (over all of the smart features) and thats something I've wanted forever.
Band 8 coming to me tomorrow.
My wife uses her 7 for a year or so and is very happy with it, both, with functions and battery performance.
Hi. Have you tried band 8 as necklace or at shoe? How accurate are the findings at these 2 places?
I’m not huge fan of watches and mi band 6 was my first smart watch and it’s one of the best purchase, after one year of use without any problems, light weight you don’t feel it in ur hand and battery life 10 days easily , very accurate monitoring of activities and sleep and heart rate and oxygen.
I would like to see band 9 with built in gps and nfc

out of curiosity, how do you find the data for (lets say step monitoring) the xiaomi band 8 and apple watch if worn simultaneously? Would it exaggerate the numbers if used simultaneously?

Yes.
Just a note, the Mi Band's calorie score is still about double that of what you burn during activities. I guess customers must feel better about such an inflated value. But that must mean the the Apple watch's calories are leagues away of reality, which is weird.

My band 5 needs the app but you might not have to with this new one
If you can turn off 24h heartrate monitor how is that new. This could already be done with mb7. This can also monitor your heart all the time. Same as spo2

Hello Micheal, one thing keeps brothering me out. Since this is my first Mi band, does it need a screen protector? I have taken it out of bix since it was delivered to me😢
I definitely would, I didn’t think to get one for my mi 7 but I didn’t realize how often I use my hand and ended up scratching the surface so many times. I say it’s safe to get a screen protector
The ios version of the Mi fit app does not allow changing the watch face, while this watch has many attractive watch faces! Has anyone found a solution to use other watch faces on the iOS app?
Ps mb7 also had nfc in chine. Not sure why they state its new. European and usa market didnt uave and seems its the same this year

I'm in California and just got the mi band 8. Your phone will not recognize the band unless you set the region to China. During the set-up you can select English, but some of the watch face symbols are in Chinese characters. Otherwise, still trying to figure it out, just updated from the mi band 4, and it has a lot more features. Perhaps you can select the mi band 7 global version or can wait for the global version on the 8.... good luck on your decision.
You said it was getting your distances incorrect. Was that a consistent issue? My current watch is always about 1/2 - 3/4 miles off. I just don’t want to get another watch that’s going to measure my runs incorrectly again.
Happened a few times yes and it’s because it doesn’t have GPS. Only if you take your phone with you will it connect to GPS. I would spent a bit more and get the Pro version of this band.

Question - I’m interested to buy this and is a first time user. I’m happy that it automatically syncs data in IOS Health app but with it record my steps 1) without having the need of my phone with me while I do the walking? 2) will it automatically records my steps whenever I walk? Or I should always start a workout of walking before it records anything? Thank you in advance.
Yeah, fitness app on iphone syncs to whatever watch or band you have and syncs the steps.
MIght buy one though they are hard to find in the UK. I think Ive nuked my Mii band 6 by accidentally taking it diving, now it only shows the time in daylight hours, wont accept any other input so i cannot reboot it to see if that fixes it. Waiting for it to run out of battery and see if a reboot due to that fixes it otherwise an Mii 8 will likely be it though the Huawaii band 8 also gets good write ups, so thats another contender.
I was hoping for the health monitors to get an improvement. From my experience with the Band 6, it seems sometimes very inaccurate. It gives wrong heart rate readouts, the blood oxygen levels seem very random too. It's a cheap little gadget, but after 3 years I was expecting for at least some small improvements in the health and fitness departments.
When went to the doctor to check my lungs I did a blood oxygen level reading on my band 6 and afterwards on the gear of my doctor and it gave precisely the same percentage.
Mi Band 8 one of the worst HRM on the market now.

@@martijnopo8742 could've been a lucky coincidence too. The HRM is very inaccurate though. My PAI sometimes stayed in low 20-30 despite cycling for many miles every single day during spring and summer this year. My heart was almost jumping out my chest yet the HRM was showing 100-110 heart beats per minute. Same thing happens on the gym. Low readouts despite I cam physically feel that my heart is beating like crazy. Utter ridiculous and pointless device.

Zepp Life doesn't support the Mi Band 8.

@@GabrijelPezelj You have the option to transfer your Zapp Life data to the new Mi Fitness app which they are pushing with this model and the 7 Pro.

@@iggymlqyou cannot change the version once global releases through OTA. Doesn't work like that. I want to buy but not Chinese variant. I'll have to deal with a lot of Chinese watch faces etc..

My mb7 seemed to have died today after a swimming session. Was salt water though. Not much has changed. In china the mb7 already had NFC. Wish they fixed the Bluetooth issue. When it was connected and ver bluetooth with my phone. It caused major wifi issues. Internet would crawl on my mobile

I'm waiting for huawei band 9. If it doesn't have 60hz screen, I'm going for this.
In the same segment, I would probably choose huawei band 8, because it measures health and sleep better. However, the design of mi band 8 is beautiful and compact.
the huawei has a major flaw in shutting down too early on heat, like at 29°C outdoor temps, there are lots reports and articles about it, i love the good sensors of the huawei, but the heat issue is too strong
how STRONG is the vibration?
Strong but loose. You won’t miss it. And there are options for how strong you want it to go. But it’s not clicky or tactile. It’s a bit mushy.
Can you control Spotify from your phone using this band?
I don’t think so unfortunately
You can pause and change track from your watch in spotify playing on your phone.

I ordered mine from China and it came looking great but the weather is Chinese, and I can’t really see Arabic notifications.

The software has changed and many things do not work. For instance, It does not give the distance walked

I recently bought the Mi Band 7 and I realized it doesn't autodected biking like the Mi band 6 does. Does the Mi Band 8 have the same issue?

@@spinshade i know. I have xiaomi mi band 5 and 6. Recently i bought 7 pro, watch - like, and unlike with my previous bands, who synced all the days from previous sync (of c, when i turned sync on), 7 pro loses all the data from previous days if you dont sync it every night. Thats sooo awfull that i went back to old bands.

Reseted my smart band 7 using factory reset. And now instead of 100 watch faces in the app store only 28 are showing up which makes me very disappointed. Now please tell me how to solve this issue. Although I have also complaint on 14th July 2023 through Zepp Life app. But so far Xiaomi has not solved this problem.😢

You are located in China and even I am. Even I want to buy Band 8 but seems Xioami stores here just sell with chinese language. Can the language be changed to english from MI Fitness app or where can I buy the one with english language?
Every Xioami product in China has an English’s language setting. It’s pretty easy to ask the shop assistant but even easier to do it yourself

@@bigpunchline Counts only active calories. In my case it showed that I burned only around 400 cal per day so it must be that.
