thats true, but the new strap still lacks quality since my gold version strap quickly got yellow marks (I haven't put it even in the water) and they don't coming off with washing.
I use the 8 pro in CN version in Germany. It's great and there is no need to wait for the global version. I use with english speech for weeks and never eher had a problem.

Honestly, if I were to but a tracker I would get the xiaomi again. I used to have the mi band 3 and I upgraded to a garmin venu sq. I laid 150€ and I am not totally happy with it. The metrics seem to be accurate and I needed the bigger screen but I don’t like the interface and although you can download external widgets I haven’t been happy with the offerings. So next time I need a smart band I will probably go back to xiaomi.
Coming from mi band 5 then upgraded to garmin venu sq 2, I can say that the mi band 5 is much more accrurate (well for me) in terms of tracking of sleep & steps which are the most important for me to track daily. I’m planning to buy the mi band 8 so I’ll have comparison again, but most probably will stick to mi band 8 when I got it because it’s much comfortable to wear when sleeping.

Edit: got both, step counter is amazing on both watches, the biggest difference are the functions in the app and watch itself, you can customize the normal band a bit more, e.g. it shows how long your battery will last, approximately. So yea if you only want a step counter get the active, display is also bigger.

Hi. I am using Mi band 8 for the last 10 days. I intend to primarily use it as necklace but I am yet to receive the accessories for the same from China. Have you used it as pebble or as necklace yet? One thing I want to bring out is about accuracy. I have been using Band 6 for the last 2 years and never had any issue. Now for the sake of comparison and while still waiting for the necklace accessories, I am using band 8 on my left wrist and band 6 on my right wrist and the step & calories count are way different. I am confused. Band 8 has consistently given much lower values everyday and every single time. Have you experienced the difference?
Are you right handed? If yes then it should answer your question. Since you move your right hand more so the counting are higher on miband 6. Every slight move are count as steps and burn calories. While your left hand are more passive so it's give lower values.
Xiaomi's app is terrible, but Notify for Mi Band works like a charm for this purpose. I don't know if it supports the Band 8, but for the Mi Band 7 I'm using it without any problem.

I bought mi band 5 in April 2021 and the battery surrendered now. So the band only lasted for merely two years 😢 so I’m planning to but this 8 but I’m doubtful cause I’m thinking it will only last for only two years as well. 😭

It.counts everything automatically. No need for a phone around.

The sleep sensor on the mi band 8 is terrible. The sleep data is no way near accurate and the heart rate too.

It is not that scratch resistant. Tempered glass but gets marks over time. And yeah - I've been showering with it.
