Before I never care of the 50s car, even though our first family car according to my late parents was a 55 Chevy Station Wagon, way before my folks made me as a human being LOL Hahaha. I’ve been very fortunate to see several of these cars, beautifully restored like this one, at shows over the years here in upstate NY. They are the epitome of classic automotive art, just gorgeous. In the day they more than held their own against the world’s top luxury cars. Thanks again Lou!

Now that's a real beauty ! I would like to see some of the cars today after 64 years . That is a really well built automobile . Amazing how much time went into building this beauty .
Hi, Lou! Although Lincoln built the original Continental in the Forties, the 1956-57 Continental Mark II was actually made by a new Continental division that was separate from Lincoln. At that point, Henry Ford II had set a goal of making Ford a five-marque company as GM and Chrysler were back then. Mercury would be in the middle, and Edsel, to be introduced for 1958, would be the first step up from the Ford brand. Unfortunately, as Jack mentioned, the Mark II lost money, so the separate Continental division couldn't sustain itself and so future Continentals were Lincolns once again. Also, I think the company ruled that the Mark II would have been prohibitively expensive as a retractable and thus would be far more affordable as a Ford. And of course we all know what became of Edsel. That said, I enjoyed listening to Jack relate his car story of his memories of the Mark II he had back in the day, and I can well imagine how proud he must have been to be seen in it, then and today! Who knew how much intricacy was involved in those simple-looking wheel covers? Holy cow! I think his wife can forgive him for selling his first one! Anyway, what a special, phenomenal and exquisite car you and Jack have presented here! What a treat! I should have tuned in to this episode much sooner!
I thought, coming on this video by the bell, "26 minutes? On one car?" Leave it to you Lou, to structure a video of that length to fly by. Though I'm not crazy in Love with this car, it was a fascinating piece. From behind the wheel of my Ford Explorer and my wife's Focus, this Mere Mortal concludes that Lou Constabile has the BEST videos for a truly vicarious joyride.
I loved this model and all it represented for quality for simplicity for tastefullness while the chrome and fin race was on w other cars during 56 and 57! I also LOVED the 56 Lincoln Premier!!! It won an award for design ......such a gorgeous car! BOTH of them!!!
The summer of the year before you posted this video, I saw one of these on display at the Volo Auto Museum - deep red in color, it had belonged to Nelson Rockefeller.

Another one of my all time Favorites Lou. Amazing how you can obtain these now for not a lot of money considering how rare they are. A few are worth a mint that have Celeberty Status
I have never had the pleasure of driving one, let alone ever driving one, but damn, I love these MKII Continentals. $10,000 list price back in 1956!!!!
Beautiful. Thanks for the link, Lou. Love these old Lincolns. The man down the street has one that is similiar in color to the 1954 Buick Skylark Convertible that you featured. Probably not called Lido Green by Lincoln! The maroon Mark II that you faeatured earlier and this one are much nicer colors. Compared to other cars of the time, the dash is too simple for my taste. Though like anyone else, I'd love to have one! Love the story of how he got his first one! Worth the whole video! Loved the book too!

Sidney Blackmer, Grace Kelly's ne'er do well estranged father in "High Society" arrives in a gray Mark II. He later played Roman Castevet in "Rosemary's Baby". I love the Eldorado Brougham for its mechanical intricacies and posh amenities, but the Continental Mark II remains my dream car.

Thank you for a wonderful video. I have the original 5th Avenue show car, that has lived it's entire life in Tucson Arizona. I am the second owner, and still drive the car almost every weekend. It was the center fold for the Hemmings Motor Newa calendar for 2010.
Hi Fred, Happy to read you enjoy this video. Glad to read you have a cool car too. I've been to Tucson two times and a wonderful place. Lou
This happens to be one of my all time favorite cars along with any model '57-'58 Cadillacs

Now that's a real beauty ! I would like to see some of the cars today after 64 years . That is a really well built automobile . Amazing how much time went into building this beauty .
You're right, quality in design and engineering.
That Continental is a real gem! Gorgeous!!
Hi Debbie Dunn, Happy to read you enjoy this "gem" :-) Lou
Hi iswc27, Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Glad to read you enjoy Jack's stories :-) Lou
Hi Kenn Love, Happy to read the 26 minutes went by quickly :-) Thank you for the kind words and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Thank you for showing me the convertible impala. i have enjoyed watching it.

7:33 I wish new cars still had that sight window for the air conditioner gas. I enjoyed the coverage on this video. And that owner sure had a few great stories. Although I wonder if that used car dealer where he purchase that Lincoln back in the day , told that same my girlfriend is looking to get a car like yours to everyone that stopped at the lot. LOL

Another one of my all time Favorites Lou. Amazing how you can obtain these now for not a lot of money considering how rare they are. A few are worth a mint that have Celeberty Status
Hi gene978, Happy to read this one is a favorite of yours :-) Lou
Very classy. Thank you Lou for this rare gem.
My pleasure sharing with you motorTranz :-)
I have never had the pleasure of driving one, let alone ever driving one, but damn, I love these MKII Continentals. $10,000 list price back in 1956!!!!
That's BIG $$$ for a car in 1956.
What a beauty! And wow, thanks for all the content!
Thanks Lou another great video and Car Story.
Hi Jeff King, Happy to read you enjoy this episode :-) You're welcome, and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
A work of art.
Well said :-)
AMAZING car and a super cool Army story! Thanks Lou and Merry Christmas!
Hi Bill Yates, Happy to read you enjoy this episode :-) You're welcome, and Merry Christmas, Lou
Lou, you do the best videos.
Thank you Stephen. I appreciate that.
Hi Brian, My pleasure sharing this car with you :-) Lou
Love these monuments.
Hi David, Happy to read "Love these monuments" :-) Lou

I did restorations for 20 years when I owned diamondfinish LLC ®️ , I painted cars for Francis Ford Coppola and Hollywood movie industry 🎥🎞️ 4 years , but the mark Two Lincoln is by far the finest automobile ever made ♥️🇺🇸♥️
Hi David, High praise, Lou
@@loucostabile when I did the restoration on the Tucker for Francis Ford Coppola back in Marin county California , him and I got into a heated argument over the Mark ll Continental many of Tucker's designs were incorporated into this car, including the shatterproof windshield and overall design , besides Jay Leno's garage Frances gave me free reign of this movie 🎥🎞️ technical assistant with a membership in the actors guild Union 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Beautiful car. Would love to have one myself.

Hi John, Happy to read this is a "Dream Car" for you :-) Lou
Beautiful Continental! Excellent video
Thank you Thomas C, and glad you enjoy this episode :-)
