I hate the prices at Turkish airports. If they want to be similar to international prices, they should do what they need to do, for example, prices at UK airports are the same or very close to the prices in the city. Türkiye is really crazy

It’s a shame as we went to Turkey last summer and went through Dalaman airport and the prices are robbery. Even restaurants in tourist spots are charging well over the top. The greediness of some business owners will cause a decline in visitors to beautiful Turkey.

It's outrageous. Tourists having a lovely holiday then their final memory is getting absolutely fleeced unexpectedly at the airport. We left a couple of weeks ago and paid £15 for 2 coffees. Hope they get the new scanners soon and you can take your own drinks through security.

I wish you also shared the minimum wage in Turkey as a reference point, because 600 TL wouldn't make any sense to people who are living outside of Turkey. Minimum wage is 17.000 TL right now, less than 500 Euros. And unfortunately, almost HALF of the country live on minimum wage.

Thank you so much for this video. There is soooo much ‘kazıklama’ happening right now everywhere in Turkiye. It’s beyond anything I’ve ever seen. A simple example; a cig kofte durum in a regular store was always 1 euro. Now a durum is minimum 50 lira, while the euro is 35. Now even with the worldwide cost of living crisis, an increase of 45% in euros? And this is everywhere! It was never like this, but greed has taken over society, it’s really sad. 😢

The prices don't change because customers still come in and pay it. And even if the incoming customers dropped by 90% - even that remaining 10% would keep the place in profit.

Holidayed in Turkey since late 1990s until 2022. Beautiful people and beautiful country but it has now priced itself out of my market. Post Covid it has exploited all prices and cut back on portions and quality of food. I always brought sandwiches with me from resort on return journey rather than pay Dalaman airport prices. I returned to Spanish resorts in 2023 and Tunisia is booked for 2024.

Yes I can’t speak highly enough of the people. The cost of living crisis has made life tough. Just coming back from a visit and whilst I never take issue with day to day costs before committing to the holiday (after all I’m wealthy enough to holiday) I noticed a huge increase in everyday expenses for a family holiday, I’m on a certain budget so it’s genuinely unaffordable for a family holiday. I wish Turkey well and hope their strategy of high end tourism works.

Somethings even more expensive there, but not with a lot. Four tourists this is a complete rip of. Turkyie is tyrkyie not norway and the prices should reflect upon that. I never eat fast food chains. But this is ridiculous.
Unfortunately this is typical business practice in Turkiye.
If someone offers a product with relatively high number of (uncoordinated!) competitors, the prices are ridiculous low. "20 Lira!...15Lira!!!...10Lira!!!
But as soon the access to a product is (artifictual) limited with a low number of (coordinated) market participants, the price are ridiculous high.
This burger menues might be around double or three times our prices in central/western europe.
In relation to the median gross income in Turkiye this menue set would cost in europe related to our income roughly 60 Euro.
That is like a very bad joke.
You can also imagine that the workers there doesn't earn much more than other fast food employees.
Unfortunately you can see this kind of market behaviour almost everywhere. Which is one of the main reasons for the high inflation.
I'm also not happy with ridiculous low prices for some services/products. When ever something is cheap/free there is always a cheap human life and family behind.
But in Turkey there seems to be no middle way.
    Cheap or Expensive
    Poor or Rich

The Turkish staff must think its madness, especially when their own salaries are most likely linked to lira minimum wage.

WOW Mick they are expensive- a Big Mac in Australia is $7.90 & KFC regular meal 3 pieces chicken, chips drink etc $8.95 (you do the math) way cheaper here is Aus. It is what it is & they do have a captive audience. 🍔🐔😊🇦🇺

I take food and juicy oranges to the airport. In Bodrum airport ,a bottle of wine from duty free was cheaper than a coffee in the cafe.😂

This is not exclusive to Turkey I think. This reminds me of that old Seinfeld bit: ''I think the whole airline industry is a huge scam just to sell the tuna sandwiches.''

It’s not just expensive buying it in Euros - if you pay in lira or £ then they give you a really poor exchange rate so the food is even dearer!

It's always best to eat before going to the airport. There are many reasonable restaurants/cafes in Dalaman.

I had to check my McDonald’s App. Couldn’t find just a Big Mac meal as there are meal deals at the moment, but here in Germany a big Mac meal AND 6 Nuggets is €9.99 or a two Big Mac menu for €10.99. So yes, pretty much a Mega rip off deal is what you are getting there.
