It wasn't empty, just sparsely attended. The Metro holds about a thousand people, give or take a hundred. There were only about 150 people there that night. I was there, this is my recording..
@@d.bychowski4842 thank you so much for capturing and sharing such an incredible piece of history! It's a shame they got rid of the bridge section, I think it suits the song very well!
This early live version seems to start out like "Water on the seas, and eat cheese." However, it's not easy to hear, and I could be very wrong about this.
@@submissivelover I just played them side by side and to be honest, except for the beginning which is a bit rushed, it sounds pretty much the same. The original is 79 BPM and so I played a metronome over it and it's definitely ahead of the click at times but then slows back down (it's a live version so variations in the tempo throughout are to be expected). The slightly different drum beat with fewer notes and fills might give the illusion that it's slower but I don't think it is. It definitely gets faster at points but I guess it really doesn't matter.
@@jamesdevine02 Well yeah, you said it yourself, this is a live version so the speed may be inconsistent, it's essentially the Sub Pop Version, maybe compare that and the Nevermind and you'd get a more accurate assessment. It's certainly not faster like you had said, of that i'm certain. I prefer the simpler, harder hitting, raw Demo version over the slick, polished studio recording of Nevermind.

Fun little fact, this song has an extra verse after the solo. Which was recorded for the smart sessions demo but was cut
Yeah apparently butch vig tore that part out of the tape with a knife and threw it into the trash
Imagine what it must feel like to write a song that good.
@@jmtrainz2582 I guess but I think if you made something this perfect you would know it.
Just another day for Kurt haha

I can almost hear Daves second hit on the kick after Chads first
Chad version is better. Has more swagger to it
The first performance of In Bloom.
Nobody’s talking about how this was performed on April fools day at the start of the decade?
At the end of the decade, if you count the end of the 1980s as 1990. Like 1 to 10 is 1 to 10, but then 11 to 20 is the next decade, so forth.
The shirt of Chris in the picture is the red version of the green shirt Kurt dress in the Smells like teen spirit video
You can tell the song was brand new at this point

"START THE SONG, FUCKER!"
Wish this version had lyrics. It’s definitely much different to the studio versions
Does anyone have lyrics? I feel like these are different lyrics to the studio version
Lori from Acid King was here, she just posted a pic with her band at the time with Kurt, Krist and Chad on her IG

Kurva jóóó!!! 😀
I believe they were playing to an empty room here....perhaps I am wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere.

Much prefer this version to the Nevermind version, love the slower simpler drum beat
I don't think it's much slower (if anything it sounds like it could be faster), but I agree it's definitely a great performance :)
@@jamesdevine02 not at all, it's slower for sure

Spring is here again
Reproductive glands
He's the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means
Knows not what it means
And I say he's the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means
Knows not what it means
And I say yeah
We can have some more
Nature is a whore
Bruises on the fruit
Tender age in bloom
He's the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
