I just wanted to send a reminder that everyone's declutter journey looks different. As you guys watch please don't compare Tracy's journey to Dani's, they are both very different people with a different amount of stuff and different life stories. I hope you can encourage Tracy and appreciate that she is showing you guys what this process looks like for her life, in her REAL home. 🩷

She downplayed her couple garbage bags out because it wasn't hard to get rid of stuff but that's still a significant accomplishment on her own and a little more space for the things she does care about so good for her!

I’ve been a sentimental treasure collector from my childhood. I’m much better now with our rancher, but we have a huge basement. If we are in a hurry to tidy for guests (or even the cleaning service) then things can accumulate in the pile to go downstairs. It is much easier to let things go on days I’m noticing I’m not having difficulty decluttering. I then embrace it. I also love this channel, because 10-20 minutes of tidying really does make a difference. I also declutters my mind.
      Hi Tracey!

The ADHD plays such a role in decision making. My husband has severe ADHD and his spaces look like hers. Everything might be, going to be, just in case, and it ends up going to waste. Not being harsh, I'm living with this same situation in my home. I am as patient as can be with his spaces but it takes a toll.

You’re an inspiration and you rock! ❤I’ve always had difficulty explaining to people how this process is so counter-intuitive for many who don’t have these challenges so it’s great to see it in action, also the need for flexibility and celebrating the wins! 💪😘

Tracy gets me. The concept of ADHD and that there is an infinite sense of time and space is my truth. It’s hard to explain it because it doesn’t make sense to people. I have many tactics to help me meet my goals, appointments, and use of time. However, it is impossible when I’m not using them and life catches up with me.
The number of alarms on my phone is, well, alarming. I even have physical alarms that you can turn and it starts a timer. The loss of “time” construct happens several times a day for me. It is like people saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun.” For me, time just flies. 😂

As a person with ADHD who never watched your channel (the algorithm read me!), I find Tracey so exciting, relatable, refreshing… people can be so harsh towards that which they don’t understand. But for me, everything she says makes complete sense. My attachment to my things is that I find many of them beautiful, special, unique: little treasures, thrifted, found, collected… my space feels like me, my things feel like me, and the line is keeping it manageable and livable. Thank you for showcasing Tracey, for Tracey: thank you for being unapologetically yourself, exuding your neurodiverse magic into the world! This is a difficult process and it’s easier for neurotypical people because their experiences are fundamentally different. This being hard for you makes sense. It’s supposed to be. And for it being hard, look at you go!

I am very proud of Tracy. This is really hard. My husband has ADHD and he gets overwhelmed and can continue with certain tasks when they take too long and drain his energy.
I am also the type who has a lot of stuff, so absolutely no judgement only compassion.
Hope after everything is done she will feel the relief.

I think it's so impressive that Tracy got rid of two bags all by herself, because a lot of her stuff genuinely makes her happy and it's really hard to let go when you have positive associations with your stuff. I think her pace is great and very realistic, and honestly, I'd love if this series continued to be in her studio! Of course, only if Tracy is up for that and maybe after a good long break so she can enjoy the rewards before a new huge project :P

Tracy is a joy to watch and I disagree with folks saying what should or shouldn’t have been done or what order or what should go where. Her personality is so much a part of these items and she uses them to express herself to the world- that’s a world of difference to someone who’s built clutter to hide or because they were avoiding something. Tracy collects out of love, so it’s a completely different process to organize first more than letting go.

All the declutters are so interesting. 1 - trepidation 2- a little embarrassment 3 - little successes 4 - realizations 5 - bigger successes 6- relief from anxiety of making all the decisions and it’s not that bad but really a better feeling to let go 7 - it a gift to yourself that you do deserve a clutter free life that does not distract you from your true desires.

Tracy's home did not get this way in a day, week, month or year, so it won't be "fixed" in a week. It's fantastic, Tracy, that you are letting go of a lot. It may not look like a lot to some, but it looks great.

The Daisy perfume is "Daisy" by Marc Jacobs. I like that it's not an instant makeover. Most of the time, because of social media, we see huge home renovation with perfect decor and it gave us the illusion that everything must happen very fast. But let's be honest, in real life, sorting stuff, renovating, decorating... it takes so much time. Also because we don't have infinite funds, finding the perfect piece of furniture or decor sometimes takes months (or year). So I like that this declutter is real and honest.

I’m an art teacher & when I declutter I say the same thing, ‘I can use that in my classroom.’ We work on a tight, non-existing budget that it becomes part of our natural thinking! It’s like the demotion system of letting go! If I use it in my classroom, I feel so good/proud! My studio space is another dumping/demotion space too! Thanks for sharing!!!

I've found that open storage bins/containers don't work well on top shelves - too dusty. In fact, the best stuff for a top shelf is as little as possible - maybe just a few larger decor items that are easy to dust. The top shelf acts somewhat as a dust protector for lower shelves, where open bins work better.

I cant thank you enough for being able to see the difference between Dani's and Tracy's decluttering process. I resonate with Tracy's experience, so it's great to FINALLY see someone working so hard to chase the decluttering dream in a situation that feels like my real life. I feel seen and understood, and less alone. It's so amazing to have someone willing to share their story and experience so that others like her can know that they are not bad or wrong, and that decluttering is possible for everyone. If someone comments harsh things, that ruins the transformational experience for everyone, so please dont.

As Tracy said, you made good progress. She'll definitely need to keep at it but keeping her things organised already seems to be helping a lot. Also she went through the skincare a lot more easily than the shoes and clothes. That's pretty impressive when most people wiuld really struggle with decision fatigue. I feel like where Dani wants a calm, almost minimalist vibe to have more physical space, Tracy just needs to organise her space to help her make decisions more easily. That's two very different goals and that's why their jiurneys are so different. Nothing wrong with either approach, they're both really intentional and that's all that matters.

I really appreciated your comment about everyone's journey being different. I am also going through a declutter journey due to a change in employment, and part of decluttering for me has been grieving my past and embracing my future. What I am letting go of represents a time in my life that I enjoyed, but my lifestyle is just different. It takes several passes sometimes to move forward, and it is nice to see that you adapt to the people you are working with. Tracy is so brave to show her journey!!

Well, you can't expect not to have a mess when you have unexpected large items being introduced into your area - that's something we've all been in the middle of. A move before we'd done our first pass - unexpected guests and everything being shoved in bags or boxes and stuffed in random places - when we're not anywhere near ready to begin a declutter so the stuff just stays where it was put for months or years. Those cupboards will make such a difference, and I'm sure with working with you and keeping the goal Tracey sees for her living space in mind - we'll get there!

Honestly, it's so hard to declutter and organize when you're living and working in a space, let alone having stuff arrive that throws a wrench in your plans like a dresser. I'm just doing a slow declutter of my room to get ready for some big rearranging in our apartment in a couple months, but a side table I've wanted went on sale so jumped on it even though I don't have the space for it yet. So I've just been maneuvering around the box while trying to empty out the various drawers and shelves around it, lol

I love this series because it is fascinating to see you both puzzle through the volume. I am an artist too who works in many mediums (and i see my clothing as one of them) so this is relatable. I cheer you on and would LOVE to see the ling process of this and would gladly watch this series all year.🥰 Go team! ❤❤❤

For jewelry storage use a peg board! I have adhd and also get attached to things and also need to see everything to remember I have it. I put up a large peg board and bought a large box of bolts that could screw into the peg holes. So all the bolts can continue to be moved around if I need to! So necklaces hang directly on it, I attached ribbon to the bolts for studs, then I attached thin dowels to two bolts to hang my earrings. It is THE BEST jewelry storage I have ever had that is large enough to organize my stuff and inexpensive. I even got rid of some stuff and was able to hang some of my grandmas vintage hats on the peg board. It’s beautiful!

When you think it took years to get to this point, yes it will take a while to sort out. It's like reversing the journey at high speed in comparison.
Our decluttering is taking much longer than I thought it would and I'm used to decluttering!

I like to think of the objects in my house as renting my space where the rent they pay is the utility and joy they bring into my life. If something has been lying around without being used for a long time, it's like a freeloader occupying space that I work hard to maintain and pay for. These items are essentially squatting in valuable real estate within my home without contributing anything in return. My space is precious property that should be populated only by things that earn their keep. So, I get rid of it. If I need it again, I’ll just buy it, but that usually never happens or might be years away, or I might find out I didn’t need it after all or that something else could take its place. These days I don't do much decluttering anymore since I can now spot that they will be freeloaders at the store.

Maybe after you finish Tracy’s apartment you can do her classroom. This has been an epic journey. Good job to you both. Y’all definitely need some swifer pet wipes. They really hold a lot of dust. I think Tracy is getting rid of a lot of items in a thoughtful way especially since this is a first pass.
