The great unhoard isnt an excuse not to let things go, it's more of a stepping stone into the right direction. Those who dont believe so dont really understand how hoarding work, especially not for an crafty and artistic indiviadual who has ADD. Tracy is strengthening her decluttering muscles, she'll go through the same stuff multiple times, removing one or two items at a time, making the space better every time
I just started watching this series and I have to disagree with you. When I heard Tracy talking about the “great unhoard” project in the first episode, I thought to myself oh no Tracy, please just let it go. It isn’t an excuse, but it is a manifestation of a symptom of someone with ADHD and hoarding tendencies. Tracy is indeed very creative, but probably already has a lot of projects in mind or in flight, and wants to repurpose things. She will either never get to the “great unhoard” or it will take her a very long time to get it done. I’m speaking from experience. My hope is that she actually does it because it will be a cool project, but time will tell. The good thing is she is letting things go.
@@daCubanaqt I'm also speaking from experience, as I have ADHD and hoarding issues which I'm slowly working through. When I first started on MY journey I would also do the same as Tracy did, barely getting rid of anything, then the second round I went through things it got easier, and now I'm on the fourth round and things are even easier for me. Im now closer to 1/4 of stuff left that I started with, its still a lot but I'm not done, and it's been 2 years. It's a slow progress, but it's still progress, and I'm happy with it. It would be easier if she didn't have the great unhoard, it would be easier if she could just get rid of anything that didn't fit in her room, and didn't see her studio as extra space to put things. However, it's her life, she asked for help because she knew things weren't great., I hope she keeps going and reduces things, even if it takes time, it's better to go slow than have a breakdown because everyone believes you need to get rid of everything, when that happened to me in the beginning I resisted throwing anything. I hope she finds the time to start the great unhoarding, unfortunutely her channel is still pretty empty.
@@imera4180 I don’t have ADHD, but I definitely have hoarding tendencies. When I first heard Tracy mention the “great unhoard” I started shaking my head. Not in judgement, but because I knew what she was doing and why. Decluttering gets easier over time and I don’t advocate anyone getting rid of stuff if they aren’t ready. However, saying the “great unhoard” isn’t an excuse to avoid decluttering isn’t correct because it totally is. I was waiting to check her Instagram to see if she posted anything. @@daCubanaqt the great unhoard is a stepping stone. However! It's not a stepping stone if she doesn't do anything with it, so yes, I do agree that of its just another way to keep things it's not good for her, and as you said, it's sad that there has been no updates since she began it the insta.

I watch a lot of declutter/organizing people. Clutterbug is great but I think of her as a type A organizer and not realistic for most homes. Great but definitely has more of a content creator vibe (which is fine, it is her job). Dana White has so many great ideas and her method works for people who have small clutter piles or routine cleaning. "Put it where it goes" and "the container method" don't work at the beginning of a declutter journey or for severe hoarders. April, I've recently started helping my mom declutter her house and your style works. She's very much like your mom with lots of collections or hobbies. Your mom had a depression room. My mom has a depression house and it is really affecting her right now. We tackled JUST her closet yesterday and like Tracy, there isn't much declutter, but it's little steps. I think trying to take people from collector to minimal is a disaster in the making, but taking collector to curator of collections is a much better route. Sometimes you just have to mix and match decluttering and organizing. While you also are a content creator, your videos are a much better place starting out for real people. Thank you!
You might like Hoarder's heart. She is a recovering hoarder and she explains the emotional implications of declutering and gives recommendations on how to approach it.
I get exactly what you are saying! This week I am with my father, and he will keep everything that has a little use left in it.. I am so very grateful that he went through his closet the second day now with me, I realized when it was too much for him and stopped the first day. He looked through his things and couldn’t let go of anything, or just very little. When he was done I categorized and presented it to him, and when he saw how much of what kind he had it was way easier for him to part - and he did amazing! As a retired man he insists that he still needs more than thirty dress shirts, but also let go of ten, and that is more than ever. Maybe that can help for your mom too? I told him I am proud of him, and he enjoys that he reconnected with his things. He saw that I don’t pressure him and he is the one to decide, but that I have valid arguments (let someone wear it as long as it is still good) and really want to support.
I think of Cass of Clutterbug as the opposite of type A! She's a stuff and hider! Big category bins with everything out of sight. Type A would be right categories and everything filed/organized out of sight. Cass describes herself as a ladybug in her system. Which is really her great strength. She doesn't believe in one size fits all for organizing. Her visual/non-visual paired with tight category/broad category really helps people find a system that will work for them.
Yes! This is Tracy building her declutter muscles. I like that April is gentle with people and doesn’t judge how much they keep, or have in a maybe pile. This series with Tracy is very realistic of so many people needing the safety blanket of keeping these “document and say goodbye, actually maybe keep a few.” Doing more passes is easier than one massive purge that is emotional. Dana K White’s container method is great once you’ve built those declutter muscles and have a handle on your shopping. I started reading her old blog from the very very beginning when her goal was to simply run a load of dishes every day. We all start somewhere. Check out The Carla Project for more gentle decluttering!
Tracy, you are doing fantastic! It is hard to do a first pass. But, after the first pass, it gets easier to let go! I am looking forward to see future passes! You got this! 😊
I feel like I would be disappointed if there's no real tangible difference after all that work. I hope she feels accomplished with the relatively small amount of things she got rid off and not overwhelmed by her "great unhoard" project.
I think like April says, it is a process. We just started on my mom's house and decluttered her closet and if you look at it, there isn't much difference, but we actually got rid of half! I don't think for some people you can really expect an empty closet because they are so attached to the items. I've found super decluttering just causes my mom to go out and replace those items eventually.
That already looks so much better, and I suspect more will go in the next round. Setting a space boundary i.e. new wardrobe, will encourage losing more. Tracy sounds like such a fun lady to know.
I'm excited to see the results of the second decluttering pass! I know people are being kind of skeptical about The Great Unhoard and the amount of clothes she kept, but this is Tracy's declutter, not ours, and she never said she wanted to be a minimalist! Her decluttering goal was to have a manageable quantity of things, and I am confidant she'll get there
The re- branding of the channel is great, so excited for you guys. Yes, we love you Tracy. And thank you Ruby for dressing up for us❤ Enjoyed the decluttering session so satisying😊
I’m learning that having a facilitator during a decluttering session makes a massive difference and April is the ultimate facilitator! Love and rubs to Ruby 🐕! Tracy is such a delight and I’m so excited for her!
I got rid of everything that doesn't fit, and everything that is more than 2 years old. Freeing! The only problem was watching hundreds of dollars disappear! Sigh! (maybe thousands!)
These videos are so short lol but as frustrated as I am, I know it must be a hundred times worse for Tracy, and I'm just thankful she was kind enough to share her space like this. And April, I'm sorry about your nails! Those things hurt! Love the rebranding and can't wait to see more 🙂
I downsized after 41 years in a house to a mobile home. I still havev over 50 bins full of sentimental things from my family, ,crafting, decorating etc. This is giving me such inspiration. So excited for the outcome.
After losing both parents I really embrace the concept of letting it go. I too had tons of things prior to downsizing. I don’t want any of our children to be stuck with our things when we transition. I ENCOURAGE you to think about OTHERS and let the stuff go. Narrow it down to 10 bins and let go of the rest. When you’re gone you can take any of the stuff with you. Give away items to women’s shelters. Donate to organizations that help people who are getting back on their feet. Let it go and be Free!!
Omg Tracy that was fantastic. Thanks for letting us into your home. Take a bow 🙇♀️ and well done. I got some fright when the rail fell down. I’m looking forward to you getting a new closet, you certainly deserve it. April is leaving you with plenty of homework too. Will you take pictures of each pile of try on and donate/great unhoard? Ruby is adorable and is styling in blue 🐶 Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️🙇♀️👏👏👍💪🙏💐🐶
Honestly, I find this a bit frustrating. I am longing for them to follow the container method. If your designated container for X item is overflowing, you need to let go of the rest and only save your favourites within said container.
@@alamedadanceparty she will hopefully get to that point, but right now going all in on the container method would only cause more stress and would lead to more regret which would likely spark even more hoarding tendencies.
No one’s going to talk about the identical striped shirt on the bed, that she’s wearing… 😂😂😂 Tracy you’re doing a great job, I can’t believe how much you accomplished.
I found your channel last week and have been binge watching. I haven’t heard an episode that explained why the name was The Suitcase Designer? Prefer the new name as people searching for decluttering videos may find it easier. Will you come to Canada? I’m becoming a hoarder after losing family members that kept everything. Now everything is at my house! 😢
I feel like she is making great progress, and her project will be a great way to honor and say goodbye to things. Also, the first pass is never the last. Decluttering is like an onion. It happens in layers. Please remember To be kind and show support and grace rather than judgement. Letting go of things is very difficult for many people, and she is just starting on her journey. I am so proud of her, and I don’t have IG but I’ll be looking for updates on here! ❤🎉😊
as a plant lover I want to get her shelves and a few hooks I too covered all flat spaces with plants and because of seasons I had to drag outside plants in..... Her plants are stunning! .
Also, if you know what colors look best on you, then it really helps you let go of many things you have. To me, people with peach undertone look amazing in dark gray, hunter green, mauve pink, indigo blue. 😍
I just found you April and: I like you! You have an awesome way with just the two clients I've seen so far. They are fun people too and everyone feels REAL, I don't know if I can explain the importance of this in what you post. It truly feels like your calm and flexibility along with no judgement- just incredible to see these people getting some joy back while being reunited with the things they truly love. It makes me feel like I'm not a lost cause for sure! Keep it up everybody- I'm hooked. AND you know I should be decluttering :/
Hi, April! Love the new name! Tracey did a great job and hope she continues what she’s doing. I used to have clothes in three closets but have finally trimmed down to one closet. It took awhile but I feel so much lighter. I can sympathize with Tracey. I had lots of shoes too. But I realized I won’t be wearing heels anymore and have gotten rid of them. Some I never wore. But tell Tracey to keep going. Love this series! Hugs to you and a special hug to Izzy!🐈⬛💜🥰👍
I’m noticing that there might 3 types of clutter havers, 1. Those who like acquiring, 2. Those who like having, and 3. Those who like both. Tracy likes having! I’m more of an acquirer myself which is much easier because I prefer to have less things and often find decluttering just as exhilarating as buying things!
Have been on a decluttering kick lately and your videos are incredible when I get stuck. I find myself constantly thinking of “small space shuffles” and “quick wins” when I go through various piles of stuff. Seeing Tracy tackle a part of her collection that is so close to her in this way is really inspiring. It’s incredible how many journeys those shoes have been in, and it’s powerful that she is happier in her space for having decluttered. Thank you for sharing your home with the internet 😊
PROBLEM with the "velvet" hangers is the hook will fall out + they do break because they are plastic.....Like those IKEA heavy duty wire hangers better
Honestly I never thought of the great unheard idea but rather than that I would focus on my favorite clothing I have and create awesome new outfits. Tracy has to think hard if she does her project, but I would focus on only on my favorite pieces. She looks like she has more than enough to have fun with her already kept clothing.
I love the name! I actually realized, once you said you changed names, that I had bypassed a few of your videos because I thought it was about traveling or super minimalism, etc. This name makes more sense💜
Just looked up her ig and so far she's only done 2 posts on the great unhoard, so I'm afraid she's just keeping everything and used it to not have to get rid of a lot😅
I’m curious why you’re not encouraging her to stop with the great unhoard stuff. That’s just a way for her to not actually get rid of stuff. Realistically she’s never going to do that project and that stuff is just going to sit. She really didn’t rid of basically anything. She needs to flex the muscle of getting rid of stuff.
Tracy, you’re already doing so well with separating items that will stay or go! But I agree, Great Unhoard should be items with greatest sentimental value or interesting/statement pieces. Otherwise, it’s too many items to actually photograph. I think one of the videos could be going through the Great Unhoard piles and actually picking what is realistic to photograph and what should go. Good luck!
It’s a good point ktk but this is a lesson for Tracey to learn it’s easy for you to say BECAUSE YOU HAVE LEARNED THE LESSON please have grace and don’t forget you have to learn the lesson yourself or it will all just go back to the way it was at the start it’s better this way to go slower and realise 😊
Totally agree. I just went over to her IG and there is nothing to see from this project. It was a nice idea but I think she overwhelmed herself even further. Also, the whole process is already documented on April's channel. Just let go of the original fantasy idea and actually get rid of the clothes by selling/donating/recycling them ❤
Maybe she will have to have a look at it once they get to the studio, and by then she will have strengthened her muscles through a bunch of other items.
I really enjoy this girl I’m so excited! Need the motivation too haha Eta when my daughter was a baby it was 2020 and she didn’t get to wear all the cute clothes we had for her so I did a photo shoot with them draped around a dresser with shopping bags like it was a fitting room.. kind of like the great unhoard ❤❤❤
Wonderful progress! Keep going, the results are worth it. I have gotten rid of one closet full re: a big move. And I continue to let go of more. We just can’t use it all. Plus I remember as a kid only having half a closet of clothes and it was just fine. Hope to see the next episode soon! 😊
Hi! Just found you. I love the name of your channel. As a matter of fact, the idea of space is a huge motivator for me when I decide whether to declutter something or buy something. "Do I value this thing enough to sacrifice my feeling of spaciousness?" Is the leading question for me. Love this episode and the last. Looking forward to checking out "the great unhoard"!
I love Tracy and Ruby! The name didn’t surprise me. I kinda wondered why you weren’t using it already. This is one final reveal I am really looking forward to, even though it looks like it’s going to be a minute.😄 I have to say, I’m missing Izzy a little.
This was fun 🙂 I really look forward to see more - will we get to see the new closet and how she organizes it? Congratulation on the new name, it´s very good.
Congrats on the rebrand Space Maker! I think it’s time for a summer jeans and winter jeans pile… maybe in general she needs fall and autumn too 😂 looking forward to the great unhoard - you can’t rush art so tell Tracy not to worry!
I’m so excited for this next chapter as the Space Maker Method 😊 What do you think of the new channel name!?!
Really like the new name. Prefer it to old one and space is what all us declutters want!
I think it’s perfect!!
Perfect
Perfect 👍
Love it!! Totally inspired ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😊

Ruby is precious. You are doing a great job. Even your plants are going to have breathing room❤️🐕🐕
as a plant lover I want to get her shelves and a few hooks I too covered all flat spaces with plants and because of seasons I had to drag outside plants in..... Her plants are stunning! .
Thank you for being vulnerable in this process. I also struggle with clothes😟. It’s not easy but so worth it!
I love the new name! Hard to let go of things but she is just getting started am sure 2nd round will be easier to part with more.
I, too, have a single health goth article of clothing (drapey "active" cardigan). The aesthetic lurks!
New subscriber I’m loving the content, and wonderful Tracey 🦋
Hi April love the new name. Tell Tracy she's doing great. ❤
Is hoarding the problem or is it a buying addiction? SO….MUCH….STUFF!
Love the new name! Please get her matching velvet hangers and wood hangers for jackets!❤
You got it!
Please slow down!!! I don’t want this series to end!
Love your channel’s new name!
Perfect
Love the new name, it really states where your channel has evolved!
I just moved and im listening to you while i unpack and declutter :)
You did great,,this was an awesome decluttering session! ❤❤❤
This is such a motivating series! Can't wait to see the outcome!!!! Keep up the good work!
Love the new name! Tracy is delightful. She's doing a great job and is brave to allow us to watch the process! Take care, Linda 🦋
I can't watch this. She needs to get rid of 75% of her clothes and shoes and she's only ditching about 5% . Too frustrating to watch.
She said “I try to reuse before buying stuff” lol! But doesn’t feel that way about clothes, shoes or accessories 😅 or anything else
Good luck!
I'm reminded of a favorite line from a song: "If you punish a person for dreaming their dream, don't expect them to thank or forgive you"
It’s a good point ktk but this is a lesson for Tracey to learn
it’s easy for you to say BECAUSE YOU HAVE LEARNED THE LESSON please have grace and don’t forget you have to learn the lesson yourself or it will all just go back to the way it was at the start it’s better this way to go slower and realise 😊
20:23 ...She didn't do the great unhoard
Thanks for this video. If she can attack her mountain of clothes and can too! Thanks! It’s so helpful to see someone do this! 👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I meant to say if she can do I can too! 😊
It would be interesting to know the price per foot real estate valuation on this apartment. Because she’s basically living in a walk-in closet.
I see no face and JiJi up in the corner 15:52 I just watched Kiki’s delivery service last night. I have so many Studio Ghibli tattoos. Love it 💜
I’ve noticed that a lot of people who have cluttered environments also have many plants..too many plants all crammed in one area.
I think the new name is so appropriate for your channel 🎉
Thank you! 💛💛💛
I really enjoy this girl I’m so excited! Need the motivation too haha
Eta when my daughter was a baby it was 2020 and she didn’t get to wear all the cute clothes we had for her so I did a photo shoot with them draped around a dresser with shopping bags like it was a fitting room.. kind of like the great unhoard ❤❤❤
The new channel name makes so much sense. I didn’t understand the last one. Great work on getting rid of stuff.
I knew it would be Space Maker something!
Love the new name! Great job Tracy, let's see some pictures so you can move the Great unhoard out of your living room.
Love the new name❤
This series is sooo fun 🤩
Tracy, you're killing it! You're so brave and motivated. You can do this!!! It'll get easier, i promise. Great work.
Her dog looks like he/she has the same pig tails as her 😂
What is the difference between the "declutter" pile and the "great unhoard" pile?
I’m Tracie’s biggest fan!!! Looking forward to see the big un-Hoard
Yes we love her I wanna be sweet like her always
Congratulations April on your new channel name 🎉
Nice
This was fun 🙂 I really look forward to see more - will we get to see the new closet and how she organizes it? Congratulation on the new name, it´s very good.
Yes! That episode will be coming in the upcoming months.
Loving this series! Great job, Tracy & April! Can't wait to watch your home transform!
More to come soon!
Congrats on the rebrand Space Maker! I think it’s time for a summer jeans and winter jeans pile… maybe in general she needs fall and autumn too 😂 looking forward to the great unhoard - you can’t rush art so tell Tracy not to worry!
💛💛💛
