  • In May 2008, an 18-year-old man vanished whilst walking in forests near his home in Woodland Park, Colorado. His disappearance remained a mystery for 7 years, until his body was finally found. However, this discovery only raised more questions - this time about how he died. Was it, as the coroner concluded, an accident, or was his demise something far more sinister? This is what happens when fact proves stranger than fiction. This is the mysterious death of Joshua Maddux.

How on Earth did the police determine this to be an accident??!!?? With the position of his body and all of the other evidence, folded clothing, furniture being moved, there was obviously more people present than just Josh. Sometimes I think they just don't want to investigate and say Hmmm let's just come up with a totally asinine answer and force the family to accept it! UGG!

I've been leaving comments like this where I can. I wish you would take on the case of Hana Williams, a 13 year old adopted from Ethiopia. I won't say more here, as I'm glad this young man got his story told but I'm still searching for anyone who can give Hana the same justice.

Thank you, I had not heard of Hana's case either and you got me to go read about it. That poor, beautiful child. As an adopted person, it makes me absolutely sick to hear of cases like that. I hate that abusers use homeschooling and isolation to their advantage and regardless of how many reports they get, we know the state never intervenes until it's way too late. I sincerely hope Hana and those who loved her find peace and justice soon. Losing all of these kids is so totally unfair and not remotely ok.
I agree, there needs to be more coverage for Hana. Emma, please review this case!!

That's actually a good. That you had a squatter would make sense but you'd think there would be more damage to the body in that case I think he was suffocated or strangled which doesn't always damage the hyoid bone and isn't always detectable especially this long after therefore I think it was an intimate killing like he knew the person yeah I think it was Andrew Newman as well maybe one day we'll get a confession out of him

I'm with you. It doesn't make sense that he'd get inside the building, get naked, move the bar, go outside and then go down the chimney knowing the bar was there. Why would you go down a chimney naked? Get soot in some annoying places. It just doesn't make sense unless someone else moved the bar and put his clothes there. How'd he dislocate both legs going head first down the chimney? The autopsy report being on a body from 7 years ago isn't going to be very accurate as so much of the body would have decayed and how did he pull his legs so bad going head first? I've never heard of a case of paradoxical undressing where they folded the clothes, they are usually just dropped wherever they fell.

I don’t think anyone would be climbing up/down any chimneys for any reason unless you have one of those odd ball types of people who try to do all those strange things to see if they can do it or not (if the person is skinny as a rail and knows for sure they wouldn’t get stuck) but I definitely don’t see anyone deciding to climb a chimney out in the middle of nowhere like this while alone or with a stranger present just in case things do go wrong.. i haven’t finished yet but I was just scrolling through comments to see the gist of what happens..

Emma bless you because I swear without your uploads I wouldn’t know what day it was 😅 I’m rebuilding my businesses I did from home that I lost in the house fire we had before Christmas and working at your home it’s so easy to forget what day it is 💀 also, not sure if you’re already considering it, but I’d love to see what you have to say about this insane Murdaugh case and all the disturbing connections and skeletons in their closets. There’s been another small victory since Alex’s trial. They finally properly ruled Stephen Smith’s death a homicide, which was clear as day when it happened, a kindergartner could’ve made that ruling. So much corruption and so many people still needing justice. I think you may find it as interesting as it is infuriating. Murdaugh Murders Podcast on here by Mandy is great and she’s been investigating this family for YEARS. Also Eric Allen, he takes his boat out and drones to the places such as like where the boat crash happened near Parris Island, where the US Marine Corps have a training facility. 18 year olds don't generally fold clothes, but then again neither do murderers. He probably threw off his clothes outside to keep them from getting super dirty. The building owner claims there was an impregnable grate on top of the chimney because he probably doesn't want to risk getting sued, and I'm sure he stopped paying for homeowners insurance on that place decades ago. Since Joshua's hips were dislocated he likely did go feet first down the chimney, slipped and landed hard only to find himself trapped in a pitch black narrow space. He would have needed to feel for some kind of opening at the bottom and probably suffocated contorting himself into that incredibly awkward position that he got trapped in. Most abandoned buildings have squatters from time to time. I'd bet money they came back at some point, folded up the clothes, and brought them inside. They (or other squatters) had previously moved the breakfast nook in front of the fireplace to keep the draft out, or animals. A murderer wouldn't go through the ordeal of hiding a body only to keep the clothes of the murder victim out in plain site, right next to the body. A squatter would fold them up and set them aside and forget about them after leaving when people started coming by the cabin more often, looking for Joshua . . . or it just started smelling really bad and they left.

I would love it if possible if you could do a video on one of my friends who were sadly taken from us. She is called Kim Frank, sadly I know little to no information about it and would love to know your opinions.
    Many thanks, Greg and zara.

This was just so sad and at the same time utterly unbelievable that there was any other conclusion than foul play. Do you think anyone in an official role was linked to it which is why it wasn't thoroughly investigated? 🤔
It also reminded me of the Corrie McKeague case, how someone vanished with no witnesses. Not sure if you've covered that one Em, but I suspect foul play there too. I spent time in that area and there were so many people living / walking nearby, I cannot believe no one saw anything.

Just thinking about it logically, as someone who used to go urban exploring in my younger days, I cannot imagine being that inquisitive that I would have knowingly gone into a tight and dirty chimney to check it out. Everyone knows that chimneys are full of soot so why would you want to get into one when you've just stumbled across a place on a walk. Something doesn't add up at all. I wonder though if the counter was pushed up against the fireplace after he'd died by the cabin owner whilst moving stuff around getting ready for demolition and he felt guilty that he'd been in there and not noticed the smell etc. Allegedly 🤷‍♀️ either way a great vid Em as always xx

I had a friend Rachel Serna, she was this attractive and beautiful person… starting in middle school and then highschool… everywhere we went.. swim and waterpolo practice… weekends with friends.. everyone wanted to be her friend, she was always the popular one with all the attention on her, as she should’ve. She was beautiful (not the everyday beauty) the bright blond big curly hair and tall type of beauty… a bubbly, singing, sweet girl, to this day. She’d sing-song her responses to you in funny voices… SHE. NEVER. SAID. ONE. BAD. WORD. ABOUT. ANYONE! And if we’re gossiping to her about someone or complaining she’s stay quiet or say something positive about the person. For example, this sweet but un-attractive friend of ours, developed a crush on Rachel of course. Naturally.. all the guys liked her. And when he told me to tell her how he felt, her response instead of saying “gross no” or “no thank you not interested” she said, “I wouldn’t want to ruin our friendship.. we’re best friends” … I swear I’ve never met anyone like Rachel. Such a beautiful sweet funny smart and bubbly person. I haven’t seen her in about ten years.. we drifted apart. But I ALWAYS think about her every now and then because she stood out to me like no other friend of mine ever has. Such a charismatic individual. It’s like one a million to find a friend like Rachel. Ok I’m done 🤣 but I get it…it makes you want to be more like that person. Their positivity is so powerful..and most importantly she was sincere. It was natural 😭🤣🤣

I read about this case a decade ago and it truly left my brain in a scramble because the ONLY scenario that makes sense is that he was murdered. I've tried, repeatedly, to put myself in the investigator's shoes and I simply cannot come to the same conclusion they came to. Either they know something critical that we don't or they failed in investigating this death.
My heart truly goes out to his family because if I am left feeling a tragic sense that an injustice has been done here I can't even begin to imagine how his family feels.
    🕊️RIP Josh🕊️

@@ThimbleFox350 Maybe they know something we don't and they can't release it to the public but if the investigation is closed I would think that highly unlikely. I'm just left smh.

Emma - easy - he was in the cabin pondering life - he heard an animal in distress in the chimney- he didn’t want soot all over him when he rescued it. Hence the neatly folded clothes. He slips and dies.
At a later day someone is squatting in the cabin - can’t stand the smell so moves the breakfast bar across the chimney where they think an animal had died

Hi from Indiana, USA. There is a theory here, that his dead is linked to other very very strange missing people and strange deaths that are occurring in the National Forest here. Some have the theory he was a victim of otherworldly means. Is death is spoken about in the Documentary series 411 Missing. It examines other cases like Josh's.

I understand the coroner not seeing any evidence of foul play but should have declared the death unknown and not accidental. The police however should have investigated beyond that and brought the probable killers to justice.
