- It's the Doom release anniversary again, so what better day to release a new Doom 2 remix? Probably the anniversary of Doom 2's release, but oh well.
This time I've remixed my all time favorite Doom track, the de facto intro to Doom 2 - Running From Evil. The remix doesn't really add anything new. Most remixes of this track discard the awesome solo at the end - and that's a shame. Once you have decided to keep it, there's really not much you could add! So I guess you could say I've made the #1 remix mistake - having too much respect for the original.
Well anyway, I hope you enjoy this!

Oh god yes.
Running From Evil is such an underrated song, and it really carries that whole "Somebody's gon' die tonight" vibe to it, as if it's doomguy starting his quest to avenge Daisy and all of Earth as well.
Well... it kind of is, of course.
Very much is.

Yup, that was my gripe. Not that all guitar covers are bad, I really enjoy Evil Horde's version for instance! Or anyone who can actually play the damn solo, because that's just impressive :]

Exactly. Even Andrew Hulshult's covers are way too much guitar driven.
@CallOfEuropeanSpirit yeah he ruined into sandy with excessive guitar, he didn't even keep the harpsichord in the intro

I'm very glad to hear the use of an organ for the main melody of the song.
Im getting tired of all of these "all electric guitar" remixes.
If you were to ask me "Are you glad you subscribed to Kvee?" I would answer with "Yes," but also "Who are you and what are you doing in my house?"

As far as modern doom remixes go, here's a new idea: not everything needs to be metal! The original soundtrack was way more diverse than you probably remember (with all the ambient and slow tracks).
the original soundtrack was almost entirely sampled from heavy metal songs. hahaha

It was! It could be sad, it could be creepy, triumphant, angry, or even chilled out and relaxed at times. It could convey stealth, immense size, a sense of wonder or desolation. The soundtracks for Doom 1 and 2 were amazing!

The way the melody just fits together is simply glorious!
Certainly one of the best remakes for one of my favorite Doom songs yet.

I haven't said it before (and I forgot to do it) but it also reminds me of Goblins a bit (the group that played some tunes in Argento's movies and Dawn of the Dead).

i know im a bit late, but can we get a midi file of it to put in the actual game?
Well, a MIDI would sound really close to the original, the entire added
value is in all the instruments and processing MIDI can't really
contain.
