  • There’s a good chance you didn’t think much of good old Magiskb0Y before he joined Astralis, but your opinion has definitely changed.
This is the story of how a seemingly innocuous player turned a group of talented but historically inconsistent chokers into the greatest CS:GO roster of all time.
This is the Story of Magisk.

I remember him talking about North benching him and how VP talked to him. This story is similar towards Stewie where his parents were never supportive of his dream in gaming and now look a stewie. He's a major champ and is doing a lot for Liquid right now. These people's struggle in life before being successful and now are successful shows what you can do if you just work hard.

Honestly can't believe how insanely dominant Astralis was from April 2018-Februari 2019.
I didn't start following CS until the summer of 2018, so for me, the number one team winning majors while barely dropping a map was sort of the baseline ("They're the best in the world, why would they lose?"), but now that we have Liquid as number one, the difference is clear.
Liquid wins most events they attend, but it's nowhere near as much of a shutout as what Astralis was pulling off while they were top-dog. Liquid dropping maps to Forze, Hellraisers, having close games against teams like Spirit and MVP PK, it legitimately confused me at first because Astralis had set such a high standard for what it meant to be number one.
Can't see a world where Astralis doesn't retake the number one spot. It might just be my bias brought about by coming into CS and seeing them styling on absolutely everyone, but I can't believe that sort of synergy and skill can disappear in four months time.

Sometimes it's a better idea to just go to the other side & trade out kills with Astralis than try to kill him in those spots. At least than he has to come out of those spots for a retake.

There were a lot of players i've seen early on in their CS:GO careers and though "damn that guy is gonna be huge one day". Best example that comes to mind is that rain 1vs5 clutch versus Envy. I mean it's not the fact that he won a 1vs5 clutch, that stuff happens - not often, but it does happen, it's how he won it. Sure Envy was a bit greedy, but as far as rain goes, he played it to perfection. There are also players which i've seen and just got blown away by in terms of aim, players like ropz and twistzz come to mid. Early on we had simple in Hell Raisers, KennyS in Titan, NiKo in mouz, and so on... I for one remember seeing Magisk playing for Optic on train vs someone, and there was no particular "play" or "clutch" it was just the way he moved, his aim, his gamesense, i just thought "damn, that guy is good". So when Astralis picked him up, i was suprised that a lot of people were not only sleeping on that trade, but also praising the tarik + stew, SK trade as well - which we all know how it ended... Most people who have a good eye can spot talent. And i'm always glad when people use that talent and make something of themselves. It's also fun routing for your "underdog" in a sense. I've been waiting for ropz to blow up since he first joined mouz a while back. And now they're a top 4 team, and he has a MVP under his belt.

@@amirfilmy Yeah it was nice having a close match. I mean, it's enjoyable to watch Astralis just demolish the competition, but the close matches are the most fun to watch by far

The era may well be over now... but we can't argue that Astralis 2018-2019 (dev1ce,dupreeh,magisk,glaive and xyp9x) were the greatest team to ever play.
