On the bench today is a 1:43 scale 1932 Bugatti T50. It’s made by Rio, an Italian diecast company. This is my submission to the annual Canada Day celebration. I’ve invited the community to join me in observing Canada’s 157th birthday by customizing any casting in any size, as long as it done predominantly in the Canadian flag colours of red and white.
The Bugatti Type 46 and later Type 50 were large enclosed touring cars and along with the Type 50B racing version, were all produced in the 1930s. The Type 46 used a 5.4 L straight-8 engine with 3 valves per cylinder driven by a single overhead camshaft. Power was reported at 140 hp. The Type 46 was a large car, weighing 2500 lb and riding on a 138 inch wheelbase. The Type 50 was a sporting coupe version of the Type 46. The Type 50 Touring was a sedan version of the Type 50. It used the same wheelbase as its predecessor, the Type 46, but shared the 5.0 L engine of the Type 50. The engine was tuned for torque, though, with 200 hp on tap. In total, 65 Type 50 and Type 50T Bugattis were produced between 1930 and 1934.

Canada has ten provinces and three territories that extend from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and northward into the Arctic Ocean, making it the world's second-largest country by total area, with the world's longest coastline. Its border with the United States is the world's longest unprotected, international land border. It is a sparsely inhabited country of 40 million people, the vast majority residing south of the 55th parallel in urban areas. The country is a Commonwealth realm and is officially bilingual (English and French). Canada’s capital is Ottawa and its three largest metropolitan areas are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Our national sport is NOT hockey. It’s lacrosse!

FYI: All of the Maple Leaf Customs finished projects that are kid-friendly are put in custom blister packs and go to my local Goodwill store where they are given to children for free. If there are parts that can be swallowed, those cars are given as gifts to adult collectors that are fellow enthusiasts.
Note: Due to the use of paint stripping chemicals and power tools, this channel is not intended for viewing by children. Age 14+ is recommended.

😂👍 same here!
Thanks, Eddie. I was just happy not to lose any of them, let alone get them all back together properly! 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
Great car , great history.
Awesome work.
Beautiful finish.
WOW . Big like 👍 👍👍👍👍
Mike Espo .
Thanks, Big Mike. See you on the 4th. I'm doing another patriotic build. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦🇺🇸
@@MapleLeafCustoms God Bless . 😀😃😄😂
Great patriotically Canadian build. Happy Canada day from your home county’s neighbor to the south! 🇨🇦
Thanks so much. The alliance is something we value! 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦🇺🇸
A great choice for Canada Day! And a beautiful day here.
Hope you enjoyed the fireworks over the harbour. Fond memories for me. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
Very nice and a fitting celebration for Canada Day. Thanks!
Thanks for watching, Scott! 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
Nice build, details and paint job 👌 👍
Thanks, Joe. 🍁☕️🇨🇦
Very ambitious to disassemble a Rio! They are at the same level as Franklin Mint when it comes to details! I have two in my collection and I can't imagine disassembling either of them, and especially to reassemble them correctly. You did a wonderful job with this one! Thank you for hosting the Canada Day invitational.
I relied heavily upon my disassembly video footage when putting it back together. Still took a few tries! 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
I used to have one of those cars as a kid 😂 thank for sharing
Rio made a beautiful casting. Very detailed in every way. ☕️🍁👍👊
Magnificent, Andrew! Perfect for the theme, nicely done 👍🏻🇨🇦👌🏻🇬🇧👏🏻🇨🇭
Hope you had a banger for me at the BBQ 😉
Enjoy the rest of your day! 🍁
Thanks, Jack. So many participated, which made it a great birthday party! 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
A lot of detail parts. Great build, my friend. Happy Canada Day! Enjoy your celebration.
Thanks, Skip. It feels like I'm far away on this date every year... 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
I had the luxury of seeing a Bugatti from around that era. It was a 1937 Type 57, and it showed up late to a car show. Your example is absolutely beautiful!
Thanks, Christopher. I'd love to see one up close, but I never have. Bet it was stunning. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
@@MapleLeafCustoms it was super cool to see. The guy had said it was purchased new back in 1938, and been passed down through the family. They kept the car looking clean, and pristine. I'm almost positive I have pictures of it, somewhere
Very classy build for such a classic car Andrew 😎
I thought it looked classy too, Armando. Thanks. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
So awesome custom build bos
Terima kasih banyak, Susilo! ☕️🍁👍👊
Very nice, and like Eddie P said 😊 Cheers 🍻🇦🇺🤝🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦🍁🏔🌨❄️🦘🦘

Beautiful Bugatti for Canada Day Andrew!
Thanks, Ron. I'd love to see one some day. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
Nice build Andrew. Lots of tiny parts on that one.

This is a verry cool casting that looks fantastic in these colors! Great job!
Yeah, a lot of pieces 😅 with your boxing system you don‘t loose them 😉

Thanks so much. I appreciate the fine feedback. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
Awesome, happy Canada Day
Thanks so much! I'm a proud expat over here in Switzerland. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
Very nice Dominion Day model Andrew. I really like the choice of black fenders to compliment the standard red and white. Cheers, Timo
Thanks, Timo. I recall seeing someone else do that very same thing recently... 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦😀
What a beauty ... Happy Canada Day buddy
Thanks, Dan. And to you on the 4th! I'm cranking out another one for that. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦🇺🇸
Beautiful build Andrew happy Canada Day
Thank you, Bob! Far from home, but still strongly patriotic! 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
Looks superb brother.
Happy Canada day
Thanks, Big C. I appreciate our Canada/US alliance. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦🇺🇸
That Bugatti is a piece of art Andrew, Happy Canada Day.🍁🦫
Same to you, my friend! 🍁☕️👊🇨🇦
This was an interesting build ,some of these castings have a lot of small part's, but you managed it no problems.and it looks really smart. All the best Martin
Thanks, Martin. I was thinking this was more of your type of puzzle than mine! 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦😀
Incredible build. A few more parts and it’d have a working drivetrain.
Thanks, Leo. Probably the most detailed casting I've worked on yet. Challenging. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
Andrew, you are a better, and more brave, Bergson than I. The disassembly was harrowing. My wife has a 1:64 version she wants me to do. May be a slight bit less daunting. As always, fabulous work, thank you so much for sharing it!
The Bugatti T50 is a very classy automobile. Mine was indeed a challenge with SO many parts to it, but that's all part of stretching oneself in the hobby. I hope you'll do yours too. 🍁☕️👊😀
Amazing build Andrew. I was impressed with the dissembling part. But came out awesome. So nice
Thanks, Jody. The Rio models are really well made. Challenging work! 🍁☕️👍🇨🇦
gorgeous car to use. looks awesome in the red and white. bet I took alot of patience putting it back together. happy canada from Abbotsford bc canada 🇨🇦 eh
Thanks, Nei. Hope it was a great day for you on the Homefront. 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
Well Done and Looks Better❤
Thanks so much, Harry! 🍁☕️👍🇨🇦
cool man shared like loved ! i did a wheel swap F-150 lighing i may do a build i wasn't read this year health no doing good but this build you rocked it Canadian stile :D right on
Thanks, Robin. Hope you're feeling better real soon. 🍁☕️🇨🇦
Andrew, I love how you challenge yourself. It inspires me. To be honest, when I saw photos, I thought this was a 1/64th-scale car. To learn it's practically a part-for-part recreation in a larger scale impresses me (but doesn't surprise me) even more. This really came out clean and neat, and I could easily see that in a gift shop in the Great White North. And not a single McKenzie Brothers reference. Wonderful! Happy Canada Day, Andrew!
Thanks for the kind feedback, Tom. It was a challenge to do the Rio. They're well made! Was a busy week for all of us, but many celebration worthy events! 🍁☕️🎉🇨🇦
Great job Andrew 👍🏻
Thanks, Mark. I appreciate it. 🍁☕️👊
@@MapleLeafCustoms you're welcome 😊
