Tractor Trailer Rollover Accident - Uprighted in Mid-Air

- Tractor Trailer Rollover Accident - Uprighted in Mid-Air. Been a while since I tag teamed a rollover with my dad! If this spot looks familiar, it's because we get them here ALL. THE. TIME. This hot spot keeps us busy, but like always we were lightning fast and off the side to keep traffic open as much as possible.
The first step my dad did actually was scoot the container to us to free an additional lane, which made CHP very happy. In a perfect world the freeway would be fully shut down for maximum safety, but we are so experienced and comfortable working under these conditions and understand that heavy traffic can cause even more accidents. The customer's load was going to a local warehouse, while the tractor and trailer had to go back to the yard. For maximum efficiency, we rolled out a forklift and Landoll to take the load of coils.
Uprighting these loaded dry van trailers can be such a pain. You risk ripping the wall and spilling the load, and the way this load was it would have been difficult to even pre-pick it since all the weight was small and concentrated up front only. My dad made the right call to offload, and while that was happening I started to work on the tractor. After splitting it, we upright it and put it to the side up front. Then I rigged the trailer for both trucks. By the time I was done, the trailer was empty and we got to work.
Tons of calories burned up in this horrible heat, but worth it once it came over by doing a mid air roll. I even got fancy with this one by using my Wreckmaster Wrinkle to double as my lift and catch point. Once I have enough air, I go in with the lift cable while letting out on the catch until it's even, then cables down for both of them until it's touching the freeway. Enrique backed up the tractor to the now empty trailer, and off we all went.
What did everyone think of this "barrel roll/mid air roll" technique we did?

Hey Josh, your father is a very very smart man. No trucks sitting around idling/waiting. I like that.
I liked the comment from the guy asking if you " if you ever did this before", your comment was "everyday" and your dad Dad just said "42 years". good job as always.
im a big fan of pepes towing. love how josh left the footage of his mistake when uprighting the truck. true professionalism there
Jobs like these are EXACTLY the reason that Pepe's is the BEST in the business Josh- You guys stay safe & hydrated out there!
My brother went in the Navy a teen ager went came out a few years later bought a tractor and trailer drove all the rest of his life and thank God no accidents and he drove out of California for a lot of years. Great job Pepe’s Towing a lot of people don’t realize some of these trucks are owner operator and if it’s not rolling their pay check stops.
Man I love watching you guys. Balls of steel. Working fast in 112F on LA highways and all that traffic. It’s crazy how professional your team is. Y’all work hard and have great communication to get the job done. That’s the number one reason I keep watching your videos. Thanks for the upload.
This is why you secure your load correctly.
Yay, another Josh led job. Explaining as he works. It's a lot harder than you would think to talk to the camera (us) so naturally.
Very interesting watching all of you working together. Saw another wreck you worked on. I drove our own truck from 63-94. Very few women drive then. Lucky never had an accident. You really do a great job and are fast at clearing the freeway. Congrats:
Textbook Pepe's recovery!! Super efficient on this one, I *LOVE* it when the Boss comes out!!
That’s what 42 years of experience brings. You do go great work Josh but Daddio is on a whole different level!
Awesome job. Nice that you get to work with your dad and look after him a little especially in 112* weather
Once again an AWESOME job Josh. Dad looking good and so does Enrique. Take care guys this weather can put you down fast. Mucho suero. Great seeing Hulk again and I loved seeing him in night hours cause of the green color and my favorite color at that. Take good care of your dad Josh.
So knowledgeable and calm. No matter what the situation your team knows exactly what to do.
Always remember: "FATHER KNOWS BEST," sometimes the son has good ideas also.
CLASS ACT LIKE ALWAY'S !!! PEPE'S THE CADILLAC OF TOWING AND RECOVERY!!!
As always team, pure pleasure to watch you all work!!!
U sure a pretty good intelligence, Josh. U r not afraid or embarrassed to show what u over looked in rigging, that might cause damage to ur guys vehicles. Sign of a person who has his foot on the ground. Is y the more I watch the more I'm getting impressed with ur actions including Alex🤙🤙🤙🤙🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Josh, the banter with the customer can go a long way to at least try to lighten the mood. That's not a bad thing at all.
Another nice one Pepes towing! Nice to be able to use the same tractor to pull the trailer!
Really enjoyed this video, it just amazes me how much it takes to get these jobs done. You guys really are Top Notch...and your Pop is cool!!😊
I absolutely love this. This is something you wouldn't get to see or understand is you were traveling on this road.
Awesome job by all, especially some sweet backing-up skills by Enrique. The cuts don't bother me, you guys are busting your asses in dangerous conditions, I could never fault you for putting your health & safety over my entertainment.
Fantastic job, Josh, Dad and Enrique and all the other guys! The heat must be so draining. Fortunately, we've just had a few days over 100 (so far) here in the Panhandle of Nebraska.
Have you invented a new definition for "rotator" and a new use for a for "rotator?" Very nicely done.
I love watching you guys not seeing someone hurt you guys are awesome 👍
Another great job Josh...nice to watch the video...Stay safe
Great job as usual. Such teamwork.
Loved the way you unhooked the tractor, what a nice clean job. Super nice job to watch, sorry for the heat, fall is coming soon.
Great job Josh and legend DAD and crew love watching buddy 😊
Your father is extremely smart man!!! 👍 Any great truck driver ALWAYS ties down their freight no matter what to avoid these types of accidents of the freight 'moving' in the trailer. 🙄
I thought the job was great. How do trucks tip over on straight highways? I am continually puzzled by this. Thanks for the video.
This is a great video to watch on a Saturday afternoon. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Sick paint job on your Truck, good work and much love from Kenya 🇰🇪
Josh you got some happy customers! Awesome job, keep up the good work you guys are a great Team!!!!
Josh the best part of this job is that the payment was there Music to your ears! That doesn’t happen to often .. Great job keeping the equipment moving..
My man was watching this video and I started to watch with him. Well, it's been 3 hours later and I am still watching your videos. Amazing job to you all that are involved! Thanks for sharing these incredible videos.
PePe Great Video Love the Blue Straps and Your Great work. on safety For all Thanks ,I Did 19 years Driving for Lincoln Towing Seattle Wa
Once again PEPE this why you all are one of the best out there
Another brilliant video illustrating how much work is needed to clear the road and from a spectators point of view here in the U.K. clearing one lane would not have been a option as the road would have been shut for hours. Thank you for sharing
Another fine job.
You Men do a professional job, right on !!!
Thank you 😎
Just found your sight and I love it. Great bunch of guys and you guys are always one step ahead. Stay safe
Done like a choreographed dance......you guys and your videos are so entertaining to watch. Your customer care is top notch.....I would hope none of your tows complain about care, but sure that they do....Thanks Josh for the great video..
Rodney
Great job well done guys love the video
That was fantastic job you and your crew have done for the customer I also used to do towing in MD 👍
Don't argue with dad Josh he knows best 😊
Saludos keep up the good work
That was damn impressive to back up the wrecker with the tractor on the underlift and hook it up to the trailer in only one attempt.
You guys rock keep putting that awesome videos you guys make my day be safe out there😊😊
Once again a good job guys. I love to watch your videos. The driver of that truck should lose his driver license because of not having secured the cargo. Here in Germany (maybe whole EU) he would lose the licence a couple of months for shure. Here in Europe a driver of a truck has to do 40 hrs of school within 5 years. Main topic: securing well cargo for transport. All the best for you from Germany and always an eye to the crazy drivers on the highways.
I like your dad not waisting time or making it difficult you must learn from him 😊
I was curious how that tractor was going to land. A little excitement there. The communication between you and the boss is excellent. Teaching, learning and operating all the time. At 112 f you guys are getting it done. Don't sweat the lost footage. The heat gets to everyone and everything.
I think you guys are the best when the Hulk is on Site.
Great job guys!!! 🤗💯
Assintindo aqui do BRASIL, Bom trabalho e Parabéns!
That was a Pepe's full floating Taco Roll .. Good work gentlemen. These guys would make for good contract customers. Make sure they know you have trucks in 11 locations throughout LA and the Inland Empire.
Very nice work smooth as butter very nice 😊
Great job really nice very professional
You know what would be wild video on a job like this? Put a camera on the trailer or tractor being uprighted and let it video its point of view.
Another awesome performance 🤓🙋♂️👍
What great job ... well done #TeamPepe
Wow wow wow glad to see Josh great job as always say hello to papi chulo JOE ❤
How did you come up with the idea of using the 2005 rotator body that Old Yeller had on your dad's new 2022 truck?
Keep up the good work....
Parabéns belicimo trabalho vocês são show equipe top. Bahia Brasil tudodebom
Great job again bye everyone as always I really appreciate your videos always do you ever do any training with Jan’s towing as always work safe
Hi Josh, NOT Alex (lol ... Sorry about last time) ... That driver who WrEcKeD his truck, I am sure will use tie downs next time ... Live and learn 🤔
Nice job.
Josh, on 28 August I got a wake-up call and by Friday I'd gotten 2 more, all 3 were strokes from 8/28 through 9/7 I was in the hospital at my own call to 911, and by the time the ambulance came to me I was in the kitchen waiting for them. that wasn't what I'd been expecting but most likely what I needed. Anyway, by the time you read this I will be at the rehab center getting 3 rounds of PT a day and most likely in 2 weeks, I'll be ready almost to go home. I have a deficit on the left side and get so dizzy I black out while trying to stand up. Just thought I'd let you know.
Love that video format. I feel like I'm following you around. Let me know if I get in your way.
Nice work!
very good , josh.
that was awesome .be safe out there .
Be extremely careful in the heat. In military I got heat exhaustion twice and I have not been the same. I was in my thirties then-70s now and always tried to be very cautious. But I dropped my guard down got medvaced both times. ✝️
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota. We be lucky on this one. Hello Josh and Pops
Family talking it out. Love it
@ 18:10 "always got to protect the customer's equipment. just because they're rolled over doesn't give us free range to damage it". Good principle, shows character.
i do flatbed and we secure the hell out of these, thats crazy
Man, I really don’t think anyone’s going to be belly aching that you didn’t film every second, like bro, 112* is BRUTAL! And it’s clear skies no cloud cover to help keep it cool….. you probably lost 8lbs in sweat. Gotta make sure you stay extra hydrated on days/jobs like that. Dehydration, and heat stroke/exhaustion are scary enough on their own….. together though, better than 50/50 odds it can be fatal if not treated properly and VERY quickly. Days like that I bet you’re SO happy y’all had MacGuyver put that minifridge into Hulk.
Estoy muy contenta, porque veo a pepe, me da emocion ver a ti mijo y a tu papa verlos juntos trabajando. Que Dios me los cuide. Me abrazos.
Another great vid. I wish you would tell us the location. A GPS location in the description too. 😎
you guys are great... and i love your dad he is the man !!! he showed you the right way all around, you are very blessed as is your dad
how much dos a recovery job like that costs
good job guys....
DOT pulled up like look what we have here 👀😂😂😂
Great customers on that job.
Hey Josh how many years have you been doing this? I heard your dad say 42 you will only get better as time goes on. Seems to me that you've been at it for awhile.
not even strapped down
That ALWAYS happens it seems
Yeah don't understand it I guess it's a Chinese law the way they load there trailer??
@@niallocallaghan5883lol..not sure why some people keep putting coils like that in a box trailer. In my opinion that kinda of load should go on a flatbed where you can actually tie it down properly.
I’m not driver and don’t have a cdl. But who is the responsible for securing the load? Does it come down to the driver? Or the said shipper/loader? Just want to be educated and gain more knowledge.
I know some shippers out there own locks on the load? So how does the driver have final say before transport.
Hope the question make sense
Nice job
Good job and video. Silly Volvo you can’t lay down to sleep on the freeway…. Lol
Hey my man, amazing content!! Question, what is your camera POV setup?
As a truck driver of 35 years, this kind of complete disregard by the truck driver is inexcusable. It’s not the shippers fault, it’s not the guy that preloaded the trailers fault, it’s all on him. My wife, mother, kids, and friends all drive next to these guys who just don’t have a clue what they are doing or they just don’t care.
In as much as you are correct, these drivers have absolutely no insight as to how these loads are secured due to the container having a seal. Wood on wood creates almost no friction at all. Just so you know, kinetic friction is exactly half of static friction. So once a body at rest starts moving, unless it encounters resistance , it's gonna keep going. That's what happened here.
@@joeacosta5011 exactly my point. That isn’t a sea land container, so the driver had to see how this was loaded. Not one block nailed in, not one rubber mat, not one strap, nothing at all. It is solely the drivers responsibility to secure the load, and a seal on the back doesn’t excuse it. If you can’t inspect it, you shouldn’t haul it.
As a commercial truck driver this is very true
very good
29:20 Hey Josh love your work, I guess I been watching too many of your videos that I consider myself an expert 🤣. I new by the way you were flipping this the front had no control of overturning, close call. 😅
I enjoy watching these videos and the hard work you guys do. Although I have 1 issue. I had to mute it cause I like sometimes when you explain things but not when you talk noon stop. I just like to concentrate on your work.
I wish your channel and youtube in general was around when I was younger id 100% would go become a tow operator like yourself.
Serious question who is Pepe? Was that grandpa? or is that your dad? thank you.
All that heavy steel rolls in the front from that trailer... whats going wrong in that trailer , are the rolls walking under the road trip, or not enough or good straps ?? greetings from Hakke from the Netherlands.
I have hauled both paper and steel rolls in dry vans and it has always been a dangerous situation.. There should have been laws decades ago banning especially paper rolls in dry vans. The small anti-skid pads are worthless in an emergency or hard braking situation. They slide forward just by bouncing from the roads and slide to one side as here when avoiding a car pulling out in front of you. I have seen these size paper rolls go right through the side of a trailer and literally break open a jersey wall. I have also seen them go push out the front buldhead of dry vans. They load these and drivers are not allowed on the docks or in the trailer to put in straps, and the straps are only good to keep rolls from shuttling forward-useless during hard breaking and just break the straps. There is no safe way to haul stand-up rolls. Drive as safe;y as possible but one emergency quick stop or swerve to avoid- and it is disaster. Wood bracing does not stop these rolls!
Driver's responsibility to check trailer and make sure load is secure before leaving the shipper.
What’s that contraption you had on the kingpin and where I can I find it?? (38:34)
