From looks of tire tracks, driver failed to make a very wide approach to stay on pavement, rear trailer tires are way ,way into dirt off curve, soil appears wet and mushy, why whole train didn’t tip is a mystery & a miracle. Driver didn’t allow for extra length to keep rig on pavement . Hopefully, this recovery is successful.
Don't know the tail weight of the X-ray truck, but I would have loaded it facing backwards to save extending the deck of the trailer gotta do what ya gotta do, and shout out to the chain manufacturer
@@cdocker3070he loaded it like that because the X-ray truck is tall , if you put it facing the other way and drive up to the back deck it will be too tall , you have to extend no matter what . That is why this load is for an extendable RGN and not a regular RGN . Guessing you’re not a trucker or familiar with lowboy trailers . Hopefully that’s not the case anymore :)
This is a Mobile Vehicle Examination and X-Ray machine owned by the DHS- Customs and Border Protection Agency. They are used at the ports of LA/LB to examine containers at roadside inspection points. As Alex mentioned, it has a large telescoping boom which swings at an upside-down L shape from the passenger side at a 90° angle that allows semi-trucks to pass under and thru it. The section that says “HCV Mobile” is the onboard office with all the computers and monitoring equipment.
@@PepesTowingService Years ago I moved a bottle making piece of machinery. Top heavy like this , in that case I barrel wrapped the boom. It would rock side to side , especially in curves... The shipper said it wasn't designed to be in a fixed position. Potential turret bearing and race issue. It was a very interesting ride. I avoided travel centers with curved off ramps . Arrived at consignee upright and damage free.

Looks like the truck operator didn't check trailer tracking in his mirrors. The trailer wouldn't be so far off the road if he used all lanes while in the apex of the curve. If I'm interpreting the curve correctly from the keyboard.....

Had to google the truck being transported.. From the title X-Ray, I was thinking mobile medical not cargo. Then the mention of the Boom, I'm like huh? Actually a very interesting piece of kit.
It has an overhead boom with downward piece to X-ray ( see inside) tractor trailer . I've had another version that used to x ray my tractor trailer on a daily basis.

Every time Alex or Josh draws a complex recovery, like this one, it's like a rigging clinic. You watch, you see things that are cool, entertaining, but you also learn. I do, anyhow. That looks like a military X-Ray for loaded trucks and Containers. Drive in and get checked out. Went through them when delivering to Military Bases. Rear box swings Left or right, truck moves back and forth to scan trailers or containers. Driver had to leave area to avoid over exposure to X-Rays. The boom swings off the side of the main truck making a bridge so the trucks and trailers can drive thru and be scanned for explosive materials.
That off ramp is a huge area for these type of jobs. We made the cover of American Towman on a job a few years back in this same spot for a different job.
The Owner gave Alex the best Truck they got..Jealousy He is the best,Respectful, Patient, Helpful, Common Sense ect...Now getting paid from Utube too..I. hooked...

I love the relationship these guy's have with 'Law Enforcement' total mutual respect! Good job guy's ..Also why wouldn't a qualified driver like that not stay out wide enough to cut the curve, beats me man!

Read a bunch of comments. Mostly from people with skills developed with remote and big screen in Mom's basement. The driver was not responsible for the route. Was specified in the permit. Can't see PS rear wheels in the dark. See any light poles? Go back and watch the video carefully and be prepared to offer some appologies.

And out the right side, the driver can't see where the trailer is going. (not that he could've done anything but just stop.) As he said, he was up against the rail, and the trailer _slid_ down the bank - making it look like he tried that turn from the right lane. (even with it set back on the road, he barely made the corner.)

Huge responsibility on an oversized driver. If it won’t make the curve. Then STOP and don’t run it off the road and tear up the trailer and tear up road and the incredible risk of laying over. Don’t be dangerous!😎🤘🏼☀️☀️
One thing I will say besides good job on the recovery guy, is that driver knows how to tie down his loads. I’ve seen less tilting causing loads to fall off.
My old company used to haul that truck, I made a custom deck insert with blocks to get the ass end over the rear deck. Shortens the spread in the well and puts more weight on the rear frame rails. Still need an excellent driver to move something that awkward

Excellent chains and tie downs, load stayed with the trailer, after drop off I would be checking the 5th wheel bolts and nuts, platform complete assembly
I did this the other day with my tandem slid to the back, turning into a small truck stop with my trainer in the passenger seat lol. Thank god it didn’t tip. That’s a real life lesson tho, I’ll be paying attention next time.

@trepanier01 the vehicle being transported was chained down to the trailer otherwise it would have rolled over definately.

I used to watch an other towing company but he hired a bunch of kids tells them all what to do. You guys rock the towing world. Good job
