I don't know what's more impressive the fact that the truck didn't fall off in the first place or the fact that it's at such an angle that almost any vehicle would fall off at

From looks of tire tracks, driver failed to make a very wide approach to stay on pavement, rear trailer tires are way ,way into dirt off curve, soil appears wet and mushy, why whole train didn’t tip is a mystery & a miracle. Driver didn’t allow for extra length to keep rig on pavement . Hopefully, this recovery is successful.

@trepanier01 the vehicle being transported was chained down to the trailer otherwise it would have rolled over definately.

@@cdocker3070he loaded it like that because the X-ray truck is tall , if you put it facing the other way and drive up to the back deck it will be too tall , you have to extend no matter what . That is why this load is for an extendable RGN and not a regular RGN . Guessing you’re not a trucker or familiar with lowboy trailers . Hopefully that’s not the case anymore :)

This is a Mobile Vehicle Examination and X-Ray machine owned by the DHS- Customs and Border Protection Agency. They are used at the ports of LA/LB to examine containers at roadside inspection points. As Alex mentioned, it has a large telescoping boom which swings at an upside-down L shape from the passenger side at a 90° angle that allows semi-trucks to pass under and thru it. The section that says “HCV Mobile” is the onboard office with all the computers and monitoring equipment.

Years ago I moved a bottle making piece of machinery.
Top heavy like this , in that case I barrel wrapped the boom.
It would rock side to side , especially in curves...
The shipper said it wasn't designed to be in a fixed position. Potential turret bearing and race issue.
It was a very interesting ride. I avoided travel centers with curved off ramps .
Arrived at consignee upright and damage free.

Rear box swings Left or right, truck moves back and forth to scan trailers or containers. Driver had to leave area to avoid over exposure to X-Rays.

And out the right side, the driver can't see where the trailer is going. (not that he could've done anything but just stop.) Huge responsibility on an oversized driver. If it won’t make the curve. Then STOP and don’t run it off the road and tear up the trailer and tear up road and the incredible risk of laying over. Don’t be dangerous!😎🤘🏼☀️☀️

My hoodie just arrived yesterday ☺️. That driver legit took that curve like he was running solo.

One thing I will say besides good job on the recovery guy, is that driver knows how to tie down his loads. I’ve seen less tilting causing loads to fall off.

My old company used to haul that truck, I made a custom deck insert with blocks to get the ass end over the rear deck. Shortens the spread in the well and puts more weight on the rear frame rails. Still need an excellent driver to move something that awkward

Another epic recovery. The amount of money you saved that company on the recover of the xray truck was probably huge. Lucky for them they had Pepe's for the job

Excellent chains and tie downs, load stayed with the trailer, after drop off I would be checking the 5th wheel bolts and nuts, platform complete assembly

I did this the other day with my tandem slid to the back, turning into a small truck stop with my trainer in the passenger seat lol. Thank god it didn’t tip. That’s a real life lesson tho, I’ll be paying attention next time.
