A real good singer and a great song. So to all of you out there don't give up on your dream. I know there are times when all your efforts felt like it was work for nothing. Not so. Any dream easily achievable is not a worth while dream. Nothing real good comes easy. I read about a woman who after passing law school back in the mid Sixties spent 20 years writing the bar exam because she failed at each attempt. Finally by the mid Eighties after FORTY-SEVEN attempts at the bar exam she passed it. The lady became a darned good lawyer, somewhere in Washington state. So to all you out there, whatever your dream is never ever give up!
How this ultra-talented, supra-mesmerizing vocalist escaped becoming a mega-star is incomprehensible to me. He sang circles around Sinatra, and was as great as Vic Damone, Jack Jones, Tony Bennet, Al Martino, Bobby Lewis (the country singer), David Rogers, Slim Whitman, John Gary, Billy Eckstein, Pat Boone, George Morgan, Ricky Van Shelton, Gene Autry, Frank Ifield, Matt Monroe, Johnny Hartman, Brook Benton, Steve Lawrence, Tony Martin, Dean Martin, Frankie Laine, Dick Haymes, Nat "King" Cole, Gordon MacRae, Ed Ames, Vince Hill, Tony Hill of "The Platters," Arthur Prysock, Jerry Wallace, Charlie Rich, Engelbert Humperdinck, Jackie Wilson, Johnny Desmond, Johnny Mathis, Gene Pitney, Bobby Hatfield, Jerry Vale, Robert Goulet,Earl Grant, Sam Cooke, Mario Lanza, Jim Reeves, Ray Price, Faron Young, Conway Twitty, Andy Williams, Johnny Tillotson, Rick Nelson, Marty Robbins and Elvis Presley.
La Rosa was a live television star of the 1950s and the first television created teen idol. He never recorded most of the songs he performed on air (like this one) which was frustrating for fans. He never left NYC when television moved to scripted shows in Hollywood in the 1960s. His star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is for television, not recording.
I want to thank Julius and Ed, but especially the creators of this channel for all the enjoyment they have provided.

Tony Williams of the Platters and Elmer was just as good, if not better. Elmer never got the recognition he deserved.

IIRC, ES was on every Sunday night just before my bed-time? 9 or 10 PM. PST?
