Thank you for sharing this. This show was only 2 weeks into Brad Gillis joining the ranks and he sounds amazing for the shoes he was trying to fill. After Rhoads passing on Mar 19, Bernie Torme stepped in on April 1 for 7 shows until Gillis came on board in mid April in Binghamton NY. Whats most noticeable about this show is all the extra synthesizers and samples throughout the show which are quite high in the mix. This process would ensure Brad's guitar would flow smoothly as possible during his transition to adjusting to his new role, most noteably in Suicide Solution and I Dont Know. You can hear the keyboards clearly much higher in the mix to level off Gillis' guitar sound. As his confidence in playing Ozzys catalog improved, this would change to Gillis leading and Airey lowered to compliment Brad. By the time the King Biscuit show was aired as well as the Captured Live/MTV show from Inglewood Ca in June of 82, the keyboards of Don Airey had been dialed back considerably in all later shows. Again, thanks for the sweet upload, its not often you here Ozzy saying hello to radio markets in his live shows!
I remember recording this on cassette off the radio as it was broadcast live. I had seen this tour early on in San Diego with Randy on guitar, my second time seeing him, and I was devastated when he passed. I really did not want to like hearing anyone else playing his stuff, but I had to admit, Brad did an excellent job under what had to be very difficult circumstances. When the tour came back around to San Diego again, I went, and again, really appreciated what Brad did. Of course, the band with Tommy Aldridge, Rudy Sarzo and Don Airy was amazing. Thanks for the work on this and for sharing it, I haven't heard it in years.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and thank you for the kind words!
