This stuff is as a watermelon to my sweltering summer. And isn't it heartening to see the steely gyre growing ever wider with sidemen, associates and intimates of D&W drawing in their own sidepeople of taste and talent to fight the good fight and press on in the steely manner.

This is one amazing collection of musicians & vocalists! Of course, there is no better guitarist than the one & only Jesse Gress-back where he belongs, on stage. I so wanted to go to the show, but, sadly, another bout with Pneumonia kept me away.

Hooray, the band is back in town!! We just celebrated the 39th anniversary of the first Mt. Hood Jazz Festival, held Saturday Aug. 7, 1982 at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon. I'm wondering if your trumpeter Chris Pasin was playing with The Buddy Rich Band that gorgeous summer evening. In keeping with the musical theme here, earlier that Saturday I saw The Hoops McCann Band, a group of 7 Steely Dan session musicians (under the direction of producer Gary Katz) who played instrumental versions of Becker & Fagen compositions. At the time, their performance was the closest my wife and I came to a 2nd Steely Dan concert since we saw the original lineup at the U. of Toledo on April 21, 1974.
