This is just awesome. Not only you're merging several youtube channels, but adding comments is a great decision. Its like getting together with a couple of friends and enjoy a match, which i enjoy much more than watching pros pulling ridiculous shots back and forth. Like other comments mentioned, we are getting addicted to this new format.
It blows my mind that people would go out of their way to give a thumbs down for a video like this... like what else could you ask for?!?!? Great job again, Ian! And thanks to Mark for helping commentate!
I am only 2 minutes in and I'm already loving the new dual commentator setup. Hey, this is first class stuff! Ian, great job! LOVE that you're always introducing something new to your videos! This is great stuff you're doing. If you start charging a minimal fee, I wouldn't mind paying. It's worth it. But let's make sure minimal IS minimal. hahaha. Congrats, Ian. Great stuff.
This format is absolutely genius. I enjoy this as much as, or more than watching professional tennis! This particular matchup reminds me of high school where most of the boys had semi-western to western grips hitting huge topspin, and our coach with his eastern grip would just dominate all of us with his shot placement, consistency, and patience. Both Alex and Scott are massive players and are very fun to watch! Thank you so much for this channel! I hope you get your court situation figured out.
@@hishamabdullah1470 sorry for the late late response-I started playing at the age of 14 after recovering from a neck injury that ended my participation in contact sports. So almost 40 years!
12:26 I've seen a LOT of Scott - this is a damned nicely timed beautiful forehand! So sweet to see and hear....see how he struck that ball on the 'outside' of the ball to get that devastating angle? It's freaking nice. Timing is how you get that outside ball contact point.
Guys. It's great. The set up. Overhead viewing. Good to see that life can be enjoyed constructively. Enjoying a hobby/occupation. Scott/Alex. Such entertainment. Looking forward towards the next installment. Essential tennis, looks like our viewing just went super Saiyan level. Make sure Sansait does his push ups. Lol.
I feel like the commentary the players give to the camera in between side changes is very helpful to them and can help them understand what is going on and what they need to change. I will definitely start to do this.
awesome direction Essential Tennis channel has gone! this is fun to watch, and inspiring! @sansait is a great addition to commentary, with his wit, and love of the @TacoBell !
Super Scott is back! Alex has a very graceful style! Loving this format; the commentary takes this to new heights! ET keeps getting better. Strangely I didn't get a notification for this video! Keep up the good work Ian and team. Loving this!
Great format! Hilarious to watch you and Mark's facial expressions. Favorite player comments: 3:35 This is fun. This is really fun. 17:43 Tennis is like a shoving match 18:35 Emboldened by my passivity Keep it coming Ian!
Ian, have you ever considered doing something like the Ultimate Tennis Showdown we saw last year? You could offer players "Power Ups" or you could have a roulette wheel of variations where a player must do something additional, like S&V every point in a game, or having to use a wood racquet if you want to go really crazy. There would be lots of creative and entertaining ideas.
Too many good moments in this. I love this format. It also means we get to see another side of Ian. Like that taco bell joke. Lol I'd have never thought he would say that. Too funny.
Great set. That's the best I've seen Scott play on the channel but I also reckon there's more to come from Alex. I really liked Alex's coaching insight that tennis is like a shoving match too 👍
Hahaha haha the last few seconds were really goggle eyed meerkat time!!! Great tennis . Appreciate being able to hear the players talking to themselves. Provides some insight into their thinking etc.. Really enjoyable as well especially during lockdown and grim weather.
Both are awesome players. It was an awesome matchup Scott: enjoys first strike tennis and wants to keep the point shorter by really taking advantage of short balls and coming into the net. Alex: at least in this match, he seemed like a baseliner and didn’t mind rallying out the points. He seemed to have a considerable advantage when it came to footwork. I felt like the key difference came down to scott’s ability to dictate the points with his forehands. Scott just did more damage with short balls which led to his success at the net and the match. Alex’s forehand seemed reliable but it was not a weapon. I feel alex’s pain in this area since I am going through a similar situation with my forehands.
Awesome commentary and play. Any chance you could also comment on technique too please? I’ve always felt that technique analysis has been missing from professional tennis broadcasts. Thanks for your work!
Scott has a huge serve and has a good net game. This has been the difference in the first set. Alex needs to be a little more aggressive in the second set and take some chances.
Interesting matchup! In my experience, indoor courts are usually tougher for grinders. An indoor court will not have much air resistance so someone like Scott who is more offensive and powerful should have an easier time. Alex will need to adjust and not be in grind mode all the time. I think his continued use of timely serve and volley and net play are key if he wants to come back.
Are you actually using a radar gun? I may be missing something watching from a screen but that serve does not look like 125 mph. Keep up the awesome videos!!
So, couple of questions - 1. Which one is the former #1 D1 player? 2. What racquet is each player using and how do they have it strung? 3. Radar gun FTW!! - great to see the variance between first and second serves. Awesome content!!
Racquets: I play with a Pure Aero Tour strung with Solinco Revolution 17 at 50 lbs, and Alex is playing with a Head Graphene Touch Speed Pro strung with a hybrid (not sure of the tension).
You've hit on a new type of tennis content that combines learning, drama and storytelling. The sky's the limit!
So glad you're enjoying the new format Johnathan!
I’m already addicted to this stuff. Ian, you’ve just created a new kind of entertainment. Tks, from Brazil.
So glad you're enjoying it Pedro!
You've just raised the bar again Ian. Really like the two commentators approach.
It was a lot of fun!
Commentary really took these matches to the next level great work
Glad you think so!
"it's like adding more weight to the bench press bar. It's good for you" - amazing! That's the kind of motivational speaking everyone's game needs.
that s an awesome man-cave there, the entire studio.
u got everything for chilling out, even got a tennis court
There’s even beer in the cooler courtside! Why WOULDN’T I want to play matches here?

ET adds a new meaning to "commentators box". XD Absolutely love these match play vids.
Hahaha love that Mark is commentating with you, putting to storage containers to good use
It was a lot of fun!
the dramatic line calls and funny commentaries between the two are awesome to watch. and of cos the tennis match 👍
God I love scott, regardless whether he wins or loses the matches he’s forever my favourite!!
I'm sitting here rooting for him like he's one of my favorite Tour players. Just love the way the guy plays.
Aww, you guys are going to give me a big head! Thanks for your kind words-it makes playing these matches an even greater treat for me.

Awesome commentary and play. Any chance you could also comment on technique too please? I’ve always felt that technique analysis has been missing from professional tennis broadcasts. Thanks for your work!
Technique isn't something anyone should focus on during matches, really. You can't really change anything during the match. That's more for practices.
Great format! May I suggest mics ground level so we can hear more *pop* from the ball, much like a pro match would?
I like this format. Ian, can you add the commentary you have on your coaching videos about positioning --- the good, the bad, and the OMG.
Will be doing done analysis videos soon!
