If Mannarino plays with such tension, it's because he got a wrist injury when younger, which he never fully recovered from. That caused a lack of strength and so he had to adapt and found that solution. It might be useful to learn how to play with such tension if you're slightly injured or if you lack energy on one day or another.
People play with different setups for different reasons. Depending on your playing style you choose what tension you feel most consistent way playing over a longer period of time. I play with 46,43 main cross with a 1.15 thin polyester string. That i like the best
Adrian Mannarino is one of my favourite tennis 🎾 players on atp tour.. 👍🏻😃 😎 Joy to watch Mannarino play.. Tough opponent and a consistent baseline grinder.. 🎾 I learned to improve my tennis 🎾 game from Mannarino.. (short strokes, run after every ball and be consistent as possible 👍🏻...)
When i first learned about Mannarino low tension, a few years ago, I switched to 24lbs in my babolat pure strike and loved it. Used full polyester. Over time, I developed tennis elbow. So I switched to a flexible racket, prince phantom with synthetic gut strings to soften the impact. Unfortunately, with the extreme low tension, those strings move around too much. So had to go back to mid forty tensions. But yeah, I miss that low tension
Quite a few pros are going lower with their tension (according to a Tennisnerd video from a couple of years ago, the top 500 ATP average about 44lbs). Maybe it's partly due to the unresponsive balls that are being used these days, or to the fact that strings have improved and so you can still get control at lower tension. It could be worth experimenting with trying out not just 50lbs, but 45lbs, or even lower, too. If the effect on control is not that great, then why not take the extra power and make it easier on the body?
Main takeaway is that worries about loss of tension are totally overblown. If you drop from 44 to 36, there's nothing to worry about (especially since most of the drop happens early, so the tension you like and are used to is actually lower than 44)
@@robinsoncruise2228 If you're a hard hitter the strings probably lose elasticity quickly. They don't die just because time passed if I understand correctly, it's more the material losing its properties with each hit.
That's so interesting. I play a Head Boom at 48 and it still feels kind of tight. Picked-up a bad tennis arm injury when trying to hit much harder. Did your strings move more when changing to 36?
Most moder control polyester strings play well between 48 and 50lb (22/23kg). Above, there is negligible control advantage, considerable more stress for the arm, much shorter string life. Technical string database can provide data for each string and gauge.
If a low tension keeps you healthy, then it's a nobrainer. No one gets better sitting out w/ a tender wrist or elbow. If you have no pains are higher tensions, then why change it. looks like you haev 1k likes, so let's see the proper match next :)
Not surprised he has this tension, he has an incredibly short backswing on his shots
And puts almost no strength
@@robinsoncruise2228 his racquet has classic high-spec
Daniel Nestor took full swings at the ball, and his string tension might have been even lower than Mannarino's

or you want to have injury more often :)
You have no idea what you’re talking about lol

Mannarino had shoulder injuries if I remember.
More of these technical videos about equipment configurations! Let's say heavy racquets vs lighter racquets, racquet balance, string types etc. etc.
I saw you recording this video at the Academy. Was waiting on it to drop! Great vid, keep up the good work

Saw Jamie practicing at West End Tennis Club in Surrey earlier this year. Absolutely smacking the ball 💪
You should challenge Adrian Mannarino :)
I played tennis for about 35 years before giving it up in around 2016. The last 5 or 6 years that I played, I ALWAYS strung at 10 lbs.
Love watching Jamie's playing❤❤
Mannarino has very little rotation on his shotmaking which when you have a racquet at 19lbs means presumably less errors. Seems to work ok for him.

players are very fast around the court now, lots of pure athletes. Seems to make sense to be able to eke out a bit more power on strokes

I think people might be perceiving the strings dying and attributing those problems to tension loss.
@@rbarreira2 Idk, cuz my strings rip in 1 month, so there isnt much time for the string to die right?

@@rbarreira2😂 this is so true. People equate dead strings to lost tension. Which depending how hard you hit could happen after 3-6 sessions.
You look like a musketeer with that beard, looks good!
What strings did you use? Also, do you think a more control oriented frame would help add control?
sick! i went from 50 to 36, not going back

How was serve depth? Were your serves going unintentionally long?
I think you should try to play with 42-44 pounds and see how it feels. Maybe you get the best from both worlds

Do a fun match with your weaker hand. I'd prefer if you do it against a normal lefty
which strings ?
lower it further to 15 lbs
Effortless vid thanks 😎
2HBH are so inferior. Silly looking. Same as the women’s BH. Limited reach. Never get off the baseline.
statically more control and more power for 2HBH. Most pros play with it, but I do love the one-handed
@ they all are using it for one reason they don’t have what it takes to master the 1HBH so they all resort to the 2HBH.
1HBH is a weakness
dont move the camera
