Thank you SO MUCH for the color isolating tip. I have watched so many tutorials and seeing people just randomly choosing blue or purple or what have you to add into their white and could never figure out how they knew to choose it. This makes so much sense and is such an easy way to know I'm going for the right colors. Thanks again!
Keep at it! you’re the oil painting Proko! Thanks 🙏 for all the brilliant advice you’re getting me up and running again at oil painting after leaving it for 30 years too long! I’ve got some catching up to do at 53 so watching allllll your videos!!!!
Thank you for the fur video coverage. I actually did a wolf and had a few of these instances come up...example, the soft fur on the edges making it seem more natural, and the play of light on fur and how the color is affected, etc. Inspired to redo the wolf I painted using the tips you mentioned! :)
You do a great job teaching! A relaxed style but very detailed with loads of information! The graphics you in include (values on the dog!!) are excellent!
Thanks so much! I’ve never painted an animal before and had no clue how to begin! I’ve made my dog Georgia and am giving it to mom for Mother’s Day! It turned out great! Thanks again!!
lol, I didnt expect this video, seriously! I recently wanted to paint my mom's dog, and finally someone explained to me how to paint not just fur, but the LONG WHITE FUR 😯 TY very much! Again!
Thank you very much for your tutorials. Would you please show how to paint a rushing river with ripples and water going down and up over rocks laying on river bed.
This is the video I was hoping you’d make. I don’t know how to paint, but I started painting a picture of my mom’s dog. She has log white fur. At first, I was trying to make it look like her dog Misty, then I watched one of your videos where you talked about adding paint and not being afraid to do it, so I did. Now the painting looks like a cartoon of a dog. I like it though! I love your videos! I look forward to each new technique you show us.
I'm painting a dog right now and your suggestions gave me some good ideas on technique. As a side note... you are incredibly handsome. I could watch a whole vid just with you in it. Single? LOL
Thanks for your great video, I did learn a lot. I had a Bichon called Toby who was my best friend for fourteen years, and I have a Maltese called Misty. So this video will be played more than once.
i'm currently taking an oil painting class right now and these videos make me so excited to improve and get better. i've watched pretty much every single one now. thanks for sharing!
Such a very fine video - well explained and with helpfull written information and I just love your expressive and realistic style of painting - it is just so charming, informative and super inspiring 🙏♥️
I just want to paint dogs in period clothing. I've had some hilarious attempts including a Marie Antoinette with a French Poodle's head under that hair, but I'm working on it. This video is super helpful for my specific goals, so thank you a LOT!
Well done. I like how you explain your way of painting in values and in thick brush strokes instead of individual hairs and you show the difference. Both ways of painting are nice but are different. I prefer your way better.
i had a beautiful white dog who tragically passed away in a car accident when a distracted driver struck him. i'm trying to paint him to memorialize his wonderful life and i appreciated these tips!
I loved this video and will be watching more! One suggestion: I think you should have started with the grounding of the canvas rather than put it at the end.
I love your painting videos, there so calming and relaxing to watch and also very helpful! :) Thanks your such an inspiration? do you ever sell your paintings you make? Just curious. I am a newbie painter myself.
Love the painting, and your dog! Helpful tips. I was wondering if sometime you could talk and demonstrate painting shadows, especially in portraits. I seem to struggle with the coloring, and depth of color when painting from a photograph. I have one where the shadows looks almost black on one side of the face, or in the eye area, but when I paint it as dark as it seems in the photo, it looks way too harsh, but if I lighten it, it doesn't look right either. Same with dark shadows under the lip and under the chin. Help! Ha ha Thanks!
HI, i've been watching your vidoe for a couple of times so i can really grab the way to do the fur but what would be great is to see once you've put the first colored coat , what is the color you used to make the finishing touch ( last top coat) do you use white mixed to it's lightess value. I'm not sure i understand the last coat. Sorry for my english
Hi Chris, your vids have been incredibly useful in my first year of painting. Really happy I found you. Looking forward to the course. My question is that I’ve been buying canvas prints from the charity shop from £1-£3, putting 3 coats of gesso on and feeling pretty pleased with my save. Down the road will I get nasty surprises? It’s more for the family gift paintings they’ve got quite attached too 🧐
I bought an oil paints colour set...i usually use acrylic colour...i mistook it with acrylic basically! So i've been going thro vdos after vdos but i can't understand what do i need to use as water in oil paints to mix the colours! Please help me
I am actually not a fan of very realistic detailed painting. I want a painting that is actually like plein air, loose, impressionism type of thing, not very detailed, rather than super real painting, so i always depend and watch on your videos.
What is your method of transferring an image to canvas? And WTF is up with our STEELERS? Bills showed them how to catch a Roethlisberger throw...not funny
I draw on my image in many different ways. Sometimes with paint. Sometimes I use transfer paper if I’m doing a tutorial like this. The Steelers need to get it together. I hate to say it but I feel Ben is the biggest problem. They designed the whole offense around keeping him from getting hit with the quick passes.
I reached here to learn how to paint fur, but got a whole class and tips about painting, I am grateful.
Am I the only one so excited if he uploads a vid? Can’t be
i have this addiction too 😄
No I feel the same lol.
Me too.
I've been thinking about trying a portrait of my white haired pupper so i'm glad to see this video. Yours is precious.
You have a great way of explaining things that makes it seem much more logical than most artists. Another great video, thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I took a commission to paint someone's white Maltese and was feeling over my head. This is going to help a lot.
This is one of you most impressive paintings. Always lots of good content, but here you also delivered a wonderful painting. Great job.
Amazing painting. She looks like my dog Niki. She was seventeen years old when we parted. I did paint her. Thanks Chris for all you do.
Best explanation I've heard in ages. Thanks

Awesome! Glad the video was helpful
like how you're working the underpainting to establish your form, shape, and light sources!

I like the way that rather than trying to tell people how to paint you show how YOU paint, this is far more interesting than most You tube artists
Thanks!
Thanks so much for all the info really got a lot out of it.
Wish you would paint a headshot of a Labrador (black and brown etc)
Thanks for your great video, I did learn a lot. I had a Bichon called Toby who was my best friend for fourteen years, and I have a Maltese called Misty. So this video will be played more than once.
Beautiful I love the pinks I would not have thought to use it but will
Ow I found a white dog demo. Thanks so much 😁
Thank you very much. You made my day. That is the best present for Christmas. Now I understand how to paint my white shepherd 👍
Idk what I would do without you ❤🎨🖌
Thanks so much!

Try again! You can do it!
@@paintcoach I will! Thanks!
Thanks so much! This was very helpful .
Thanks again coach. Realism is great, but for me I get disappointed in missing the mark, why I keep trying befuddles me. Nice pooch picture.
Thank you!.. Your artwork is amazing ...
Very nice. informative / easy to watch.
Thank you!
Love it!!!!!!! Do you mind listing the names of the colors you used? Thank you
What would you paint first as an idea if your new to oil paint ?
I am wondering this as well. New to oils too. 🎨
I loved this video and will be watching more! One suggestion: I think you should have started with the grounding of the canvas rather than put it at the end.
I just subscribed and am trying to paint a bichon frise dog but can’t locate this lesson? Love your technique and easy- lesson experiences! Thank you!
I love your painting videos, there so calming and relaxing to watch and also very helpful! :) Thanks your such an inspiration? do you ever sell your paintings you make? Just curious. I am a newbie painter myself.
This is amazing! Going to try it out. I was wondering if you could tell me what paint colors to buy tho. That’s where I struggle the most

I couldn't stop laughing aout the painters who paint every single hair

I just have a question is this oil painting or acrylic painting?

I'm doing a stencil of my cousin dog but the fur color is orange tan burn sienna and white fur .?
Interesting topic 👌 thank you
Glad you liked it!

Very helpful
How long does it take you to do a painting like this?
Why not use a rake brush for the fur?
Thanks for sharing
Good info
I wonder if I can do this with acrylic paint or guache?
Yeah you can
Hey Chris, great video, as usual. I couldn't find the link to your newsletter. I wanna subscribe. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks.
Thanks! It’s in the description of the video

You don't use water with oil paints. You use paint thinner.
@@paintcoach sir...What is water thinner...? What do u mean..?
Buenos días, podrías habilitar subtítulos en tus vídeos, mi inglés aún no es muy bueno, gracias.
My black labradoodle is just as bad lol. It’s hard to see all the values in the pics
First comment ❤️❤️❤️ I love ur videossss
Yay! Thank you!
Estos gringos hablan más de lo que hacen🥴
I am actually not a fan of very realistic detailed painting. I want a painting that is actually like plein air, loose, impressionism type of thing, not very detailed, rather than super real painting, so i always depend and watch on your videos.
Thanks! I'm glad others on youtube like loose painting too
This is way too fast for someone to follow.
You don't even give a list of colors you use
Sudden cheesy stupid advertisements kill the video

can you upload real time videos once in a while here for us financially challenged folks
"A long, white-haired dog"? How about a dog with long, white hair?
