Hi. I just did mine, in my seiko mini turtle. I thought where I live the odds of the shop guy knowing this would be small,so I went for it. Seen all the videos , several times to prepare, bought the blue tool and went for it. I was expecting to be more complicated. Putting it back together was harder. The tip of using a pen is priceless, for me was decisive to get balance in putting back the pin holding the collar. Many thanks!
Very very good and clear tutorial. I feel like i wanna do it on my own on adjusting my bracelets rather than let it done in the shop who freaking way too harsh on my watch.
Thank you very much! That can be a good idea. I've witnessed some quite bad handling by amateurs. (Likely summer interns or something like that) Quite surprising that they just let them handle watches like that.
I would just like to add that in some bracelets, the collar inserts into the outer link and in other bracelets, the collar goes into the middle link. You can usually see clearly that one of the holes is larger, that's where the collar goes. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for the tip, after 30 minutes of trying to push the collar thru side hole, I found Your comment that collar might go on middle link, and it was excactly so in my case.
I seek and saw some italian tutorials that help me half way... I had to study a trick like the one you suggest with the pen. After a long fight with the bracelet of my new Seiko Turtle, I found your clip and appreciate it very much, despite I don't understand so much the speak but it is more helpful than your italian "collegues". Many thanks!
Thanks for this tutorial. I spent hours looking for a solution and then you nailed the details I was after with this video. Now I get to wear my watch tomorrow on Christmas Day! Cheers.
This video explanation is RIGHT ON. I thought this pin & collar on my new Seiko Monster SRPE27 would same as my Citizen, because on Citizen, collar goes into a tapered hold on inside part of link and pushed by pin as opposed to how Seiko does it. Your video showed me exactly how to do the Seiko on my own. Thanks for taking the time.
Thank you so much, I was in despair. I did not understand why the pins are not staying in, as I lost both collars. Luckly I had 2 collars on the removed links and used those. Life saver. I subcribed.
Really happy to hear that this was helpful! Good thing you had some extra collars. I imagine loosing these is quite easy if you’re not aware of them when removing the pins! Glad that everything worked out and also very happy to have you as a subscriber!
Thank you for the excellent tutorial after watching this video I took 4 links out for my skinny wrist. You saved me a trip to my watch guy on the other side of town.
Thank you so much, you saved my day! I searched a pretty while to find the right video for my seiko band! Well explained and finally I got the watchband fixed, thanks very much again! 🙏
Lifesaver! Thought i was smart, sizing my bracelet myself, thinking it was a standard pin, could not be more wrong. Good thing I came across this video, saved the day.
Thank you thank you! Pins were falling out left and right. I was able to track down all the collars that flew around my desk and the carpet and inserted them back. No more issues
I dinked around with my mini turtle bracelet for almost a month before I found this video. After watching I had it adjusted in less than 15 minutes. Thanks!
Just about to do this again as I need to resize it again but the pen trick looks so smart! definitely a smart move as I remember how much I hated doing it last time, hopefully the link removal should help stopping the clasp from popping open (although I doubt it)
Thanks, good video. For those like me that just found this, please do not gloss over the fact that the collars are TINY! If you are all thumbs like me, you will likely lose one or more and they are virtually impossible to find. If you call Seiko parts for new ones, they are called "pipes" (at least that is what the rep told me) and they run about $6 each. Order more than one if you have to order any.
Brilliant video. I came across this pin & collar system whilst trying to adjust the bracelet on my Seiko Presage watch this morning. I watched several videos but they did not cover everything. Your video was the shortest, easiest to understand and answered all my questions. Many Thanks
Yup.... went to a local jeweler who apparently didn't watch your video. link fell out when I went to take it off after getting it re-sized. Bummer. If I had just looked on YT I would've found you and went to a Seiko dealer after realizing I'd have screwed this up royally. Great video though! :)
Argh! Bummed to hear that! This is a really weird system for bracelet adjustment and I hate to hear that this happens to people👎🏼 So unnecessary to use this system in my opinion. Hope you get it fixed! And thank you for the kind words :)
This is a great video tutorial on how to size Seiko pin and collar bracelet. My Seiko SBDC033 Blumo was my first time adjusting a pin and collar bracelet. Like you was extremely anxious attempting this task . Again like you thought was very easy as well.
@@NordicWatchChannel LOL 😂 yes definitely but what I always tell people is just be very relaxed, be patient and most importantly have the right tools 🛠
Very helpful. Got my SRPE099 adjusted in just a few minutes. I was hoping someone would post the pin size so I could be sure I was using the right tool. I measured the pin after removing it and the minor diameter is 0.89mm (0.0350") so your pin will need to be slightly smaller than this to work. I ended up using a paper clip that measures 0.75mm (0.0305") and it worked well with the ballpoint pen pushing the collar in place. The major diameter is 1.17mm (0.0460") in case you want to use a pin punch instead of the ballpoint pen.
So there appears to be a collar on each end of the pin. I just tried to resize a Seiko SPB381 which is very similar to your watch, but could only locate one collar and I believe it was in the middle and not on the end. The collar may have pushed through when I was pushing the pin out. I guess I’ll go to a jeweler tomorrow to see what I’m doing wrong 🤷🏻♂️
There's probably a fixed collar on one end and a individual collar on the other end. I don't think it would work otherwise. Could well be in the middle link, I have come accross those bracelets before. Sounds like a good idea, haha!
Thanks, I have a question, probably you have the answer. At 6' 08 you finish routing the pin and collar, just right of the pin and collar there is a mechanism (I don't know the name) which allows the bracelet to extend (it is a folded articulation) what is it and which is its function?)
My pleasure! Good question! That’s called a diver’s extension. The purpose of it is to extend the bracelet so that it can be worn on top of a wetsuit without adjusting the links otherwise.
@@NordicWatchChannel thank you, great clarification, I am a diver and this feature ( when wearing a wet suit with long sleeves may be very good indeed(provided the thickness is right since there is a big difference between a 3mm or a 8mm suit)
Quick question, I have a problem with the clasp. Every time my wrist swing a bit more/move around the top clasp with open up on its own. Any suggestions on how to fix it?
Sorry for the delayed response! Hmm.. maybe the clasp is at an awkward spot on the wrist? I've had this happen on my Sinn 556A every now and then, and that was because I had too many links on and the shortest setting on the micro-adjustmens led to the diver's extension coming loose sometimes. This was fixed by removing a link and re-adjusting the microadjustments. Not sure that it will solve your problem though, but worth a shot!
I watched this after I adjusted my new Seiko. My pin and collar set up was different, pin was one size, it didn’t taper. I just got lucky. I pushed pins out in opposite directions and happened to get them in the right direction. Then I was wondering why they wouldn’t stay in, as I flipped the watch, the collars fell on the floor. I think the pen tip would’ve helped some. Overall not too bad.
Hmm interesting.. is it the original Sumo bracelet? Or was it a Seiko Sumo overall? It's also easy to miss if the collar falls when the links come off.
I have an older monster and I struggled to take the pins out. Tried the other paperclip etc methods and had to buy a tool for it. Then it was so difficult to take them out I thought the collars are actually broken parts of a pin. I threw a couple away. I noticed something's wrong as the pins are not staying in, and am now unsure if I have a collar on both sides (I removed 2 links, one of each side). I dug through the trash (like dirty food packaging and all) and I actually found 2 collars. Put one back, but it feels like the pin goes into the collar halfway easily, tried the pen method but unsure if the pin actually went into the collar - not sticking out on either side. Tried with a magnifying glass but I'm not sure of what I see, looks as if these collars are missing from some other links as well (got the watch used years ago and used it but not a lot). I think I need a new band, nevertheless I learnt something new. :)
It is a painful pro ees trying to insert the collar with finger or twitter. It is a test of patience and dexterity, and wild goose hunt for the tiny winy collar. After many attempts, Eureka, I use a needle to thread the collar, and then it is breeze guiding te collar in with only one try.

Well I just don’t get the point with using the pin & collar system. It’s fiddly and I’ve seen a lot of post where people have adjusted them and the collars/pin fall out during daily use. Maybe Seiko wanted to make a bracelet so that they can sell their special tool for these kinds of bracelets🤣
