A Guide for Shamans - World of Warcraft Classic

- Stat Priority order of value: Attack Power = Strength, Agility, Stamina, Intellect
Combat tips:
Lay totems, cast lightning Shield, Flameshock, Stormstrike, Auto Attack until mob dies. Repeat, but pull mobs into your totems!
Last portion of the video is footage of a Shaman with elemental talent points, but the same logic applies!
Notice I kept 2 shotting Mages? Enhancement is one of the biggest counters to all casters. If you learn your class, they will run from you. Watch out for Warriors, though.

Good vid!
Thanks, guys. Means a lot!
Awesome video dude your production value is getting better and better!
Lol man that one shot while levelling vs mage sold me 100% enhancement for classic. (like it was not my choice already lol) Good job man subbed 👍
He like fake screen covered like he was about to try to cover over dying or something, and i was trying to pay attention through his talking and just- WHOP -"OSHIT" haha and just casually still finishing his sentence. Like jesus man.
Hi! great vid. Something important for leveling as an Enh Shaman that Kargoz explains is the concept of Earthbind kiting. It's the exact same thing as hamstring kiting for warriors, and it drastically reduces a shamans leveling downtime. It's inherently amazing with really slow weapons as well, making it almost a must do to level effectively with them.
Excited to jump back into Classic. Before this I was going to run a Tauren Druid, but after this, I’m definitely going with a Troll Shaman. Excellent guide!
Very good guide! Couple things:
I leveled Enhancement back on Feenix and I happened to farm all the Herod pieces cause I thought they looked so cool. I ended up running the dungeon about 20 times cause the damn Ravager never dropped. I wasn't concerned about leveling speed, but if I had been, this would have been a bad strategy, even in the perfect scenario where everything dropped right away. By the time you're done farming all that stuff, you could almost be outleveling it.
In one sentence you briefly touched on Elemental being viable lvl40 and onwards. Melderon provided strong evidence in his "Classic Shaman Leveling Guide Part 2" that not only is it viable, but superior to Enhancement - at least at lvl55 where he was at when he conducted the experiment.
Naturally, the next question is what level is the tipping point? Now this is just speculation on my part, but I think the Lightning Mastery talent plays a big part, which reduces the Lightning Bolt cast time by a full second compared to a mage for example that only gets half a second off his casts when talented. So that would imply lvl39-ish. With that in mind, you wouldn't need Armory gear anyway.
I know this is an old comment, but according to this video:
ua-cam.com/video/hhJ78qfgrK4/v-deo.html
enhancement with a 2H and Rockbiter is best if you do earthbind kiting. Melderon wasn't doing that in his comparison, thus had more downtime.
@@Lightning_Lance Does earthbind kiting work in classic or only on private servers. If i remember correctly hamstring kiting does not work and earthbind kiting is based on hamstring kiting.
What Melderon didn't emphasize enough is amount of drinks you need as an elemental shaman. He mentioned that you will drink much more often and even taking that into account you kill mobs faster, but what wasn't said and is obvious - you will need to carry way more drinks :)
Also, I think that this guide doesn't explain why elemental is bad at low levels and what causes it to become viable at level 39 (drastically reduced cast time, the 35-39 talent decreases casting time of Lightning Bolt by 40%! no other talent in game provides a benefit this strong to the basic ability of a spec).

Loved this. Would like to see this for every class but a little bit longer.
there's something very cozy about this video, i really enjoyed it
Thanks, I appreciate that!
its the tb music in the background :)
This is really good information, and the production quality made me subscribe!
Thank you! I'm glad this is being received well!
A very nice leveling guide! Far more clear that most I have seen! Very useful.
Pick up Embrace of the Lycan in ZF at lvl 45. It’s a leather helmet but it gives you an ap bonus that will stay relevant until your late 50’s.
Very cool video! Well edited and spoken. Thank you!
Crescent staff from wc is arguably better than the demo hammer. Better stats and comparable dmg, possibly even better dmg. You get it from a quest in TB(same one that gives the wing blade).
Edit: you can also use it around 17 instead of 20.
great video. Thanks so much. torn between orc and shaman. +Axe & stun resist or beastslaying, regen, and beserker. Hard choices
Great video! Personally I would skip the two points in Enhancing Totems and take Improved Lightning Shield instead. You mentioned yourself how mana efficient Lightning Shield is, so why not boost its damage as soon as possible? Enhancing Totems is invaluable in raids but not particularly important in solo play, imo.
That's a interesting point. I haven't seen numbers to show which one is better. I do the Enhancing Totems because I fought in a lot of areas where I was pulling mobs in the totems and got a lot of use out of them, but there is times when more points in improved lightning shield will be more valuable. The fact that we can debate this just shows how many possibilities Classic allows.
@@classict.j.1311 you better with the dodge talent so you can keep more health and xp faster its better to have a chance to totally dodge 1 hit then doing 5% more dmg on that low number and enchancing is really good if you grind instance with melee people
I've never heard someone who was so excited to cast Mana tide totem over and over again, every 12 seconds, for the entirety of their rating career.
Not true. Yes, if playing a raid shaman, you will heal, but not all raid shamans have mana tide totem. Melee group shamans don't go 31 pts into resto, as they want the totem utility enhancement brings (going 0 ele/22 enh/29 resto).
Really good video, was debating to level a warrior or shammy. Now that answer is clear to me :P
Havent played in years Enh shaman.. mis my pro raid runs.. great video dude
Great content! Really surprised you don't have more subscribers.
May I ask your opinion on 1H and shield for leveling? I hear mixed reviews, but I think I’d prefer the consistency and survivability.
true, and probably better.
But way less fun for sure.
I'd still stick with 2h and those WF rng procs.
fastest leveling is one hander+ shield, while also tanking 5 mans. key talents: shield block, dodge. With gear you can run lvl 60 5 mans also.
that sounds nice, but you will honestly have trouble finding groups that accept a shaman tank. also, running dungeons is definitely not faster than questing/grinding. dagger+shield is very efficient for leveling, but going full tank spec is absolutely not. watch Defcamp & Melderon TV's shaman video.
2h slow with wf for when pvp vs spell casters. 1h/shield vs melees. For leveling 1-40 enhan with whatever weapon you have that is best. 1h/shield with wf. 2h with rockbitter. Then at 40 if you have endless money for water or have a mage by you 24/7 ele is the way both for PvP and leveling. If not stick to enhan to 60 and keep an int set for healing dungeons. GZ you are now lvl 60 🎉
Good voice and video quality overall! Totem...atic Mastery got me tho ;D
Haha *Totemic*. I have been saying it wrong for YEARS.
And thank you. Means a lot coming fomr The Shaman.
No mention of kiting for swing timers, staves with more dps, mp5 casting windows or that stormstrike is worse than elemental fury. I wish people knew the true potential of shamans so that when classic comes enh doesn't get snubbed for a raid spot especially with totem twisting
awesome guide man! look forward to more
Wow, this video got me so excited about Classic! :D
This is one of few vids for shaman that says str > agi what's ur reasoning on this
Str gives dmg for melee Agi gives dmg for range...
@@marqz900 you're quite dumb, arent you?
No one pronounces parry like the second way you pronounced it.
GoatDragon yeah that pronunciation gave me cancer
I level as resto from level 1 to 60, I don't remeber why, I think I didn't have the money to move my talents around and in vanilla we all didn't know how to spend points in talent tree, it took me 6 months to get level 60 but it was an awesome journey, as resto I would get invited doing quests around and getting friends because everyone wanted heals.
I'm not entirely convinced about taking Ancestral Knowledge as the first talent. 10% mana when you have a shit mana pool is almost nothing most of the time. As much as it pains me, shield spec i've found can be a better talent choice while levelling. There are some occasions when you're struggling to get a good 2hander than you can use an imba 1hander and shield.
I highly recommend leveling with fast one handed and shield. Personally I avoid 2h entirely. But a great video nonetheless.
subscribed and liked! keep it up, really helped a lot
If warriors kite with hamstring to attack only when swing timer is off cooldown, why shamans dont do it with earthbind? Wouldnt it be way more efficent?
You're absolutely right. Look up a guide by Kargoz. He goes into this in depth and explains the pros and cons. It is more effective, but a more tedious way to play. I wanted to cover a simple method.
vanilla wow was a mmorpg BfA is a theme park ride where you get punished for going out off the designated path
Great vid man!! Lok'tar Ogar!
thanks im confused what stat i need for shaman leveling
*toe-tem-ic 👍🏻
Hey! Just found your channel, nice guide! :) Very entertaining and very well explained... loved the troll at the end xDD You got a new sub!
I put points in Guardian Totems not improved totem, reduced cooldown on grounding totem seems better to me than 15% extra bonus from the small bonus strength of earth provides
I remember leveling a warlock alt and having to skip training for several levels due to funds. Would only take w/e gave best damage increase and would come back for the rest much later.
What do you think about Elemental fury over Stormstrike?
I like having an on use attack, instead of waiting for white hits. Plus Stormstrike works well with Lightning shield for a bit of extra damage.
@@classict.j.1311 Thanks for the fast answer! TBH I like SS more, but im pretty into hybrid builds too :)
Yup yup I cant wait too mate.. but it will be here on 27th !!!!!!! :))
Ghost wolf? wtf i love shaman now
Is it possible to heal as a shaman in leveling spec?
ye just put on int gear
Thanks!
Astral knowledge is a poor choice for first talent, you should choose shield specialization instead as it will make swapping to your shield that much better when facing a rogue in pvp who evasioned, as AK does not even give enough mana for a single earth shock until rank 5 earth shock I believe.
This was meant to be a simple guide for the easiest way to level a shaman. There are other options, and this is one of them.
I have leveled as Resto. Enhancement and Elemental and I can say, without a doubt, Elemental is far superior and far more fun that the other 2 specs. You have to use a 1h wep and a shield, the same way as casters use wands for an auto attack. If you are an idiot and level as elemental by spamming shocks and bolts then you're going to cry about going out of mana constantly, then you shouldn't be playing as a shaman in the first place.
From my findings, you can level faster as Elem, even counting drink time, but you spend so much gold on drinks, vs enhance which is much more steady. I never meant this to be the best leveling method, but I find it a good leveling method for everyone. Your right about ele being great, tho.
it really depends if you can heal as a shaman in the wrong spec. I ran dungeons back in the day with an Arms warrior as tank, an enhancement shaman as dps, Druid DPS, frost mage and me as Disc/holy priest. If you run a dungeon that is way lower then you, then yes, you can easily heal that. If you run a dungeon where all the mobs are yellow to orange to you, forget about healing on a shaman. As a priest, i could heal it, but not easily. I was not the best healer on my server, that spot was reserved for 1 other person. I was 2nd. Not my count, ppl on my server told me so.
Very helpful.
Can you use demo hammer at that level?
Wait a moment totems be in talent trees ....you do not have to do it first qests on totems?
good vid but you dont really know what you talking about past lvl 25 with flurry its more agi=crit, stam, intellect, strenght=spirit so your guide is completly wrong ! plus you take the wrong talent you arent suppose to take ancestral knowledge and you arent supposed to cast lighting bolt if you are enchance you do more dps in melee plus better mana per damage so idk what you trying to do here and btw wind furry isnt the best rockbitter alwayss win in term of dps (plus you got a chance to overkill the mob or even not proc it at all) so you loose efficiency and you better put the rest of your point in elem
You might as well level on elemental with int gear. (Not to mention that you'll have an easier time if you swant to heal a five-men dungeon if your primary gear gives you more int). With cement spec you'll run out of mana so fast that it makes you cry even if your pirmary damage output is melee damage.
In general I was very disappointed with cement. i think it is among the most useless vanilla specs such as balance druid or prot pala.
Another note: If you still decide to be cement, use faster weapons instead of slow heavy weapons.
WF will trigger much more often which means you receive the wf ap bonus much more often, which is a flat bonus regardless of your attack speed.
If you think balance druids are useless, you are pretty ignorant. It's easy to get caught up in all the memes and presuppositions that surround vanilla, but enhance and balance are actually great for the role they play in PVP.
Many classes are absolutely hopeless against balance kiting. Balance can consistently get their opener, close gaps with charge, root, heal, and sustain as well as burst.
/watch?v=vCvb8MwvsD4&t=
Go and educate yourself please.
I always go against the tide. Thanks for the hidden gem! Every class/spec ia viable in vanilla; you can still pvp/end game raid without bloody min/maxing. It's how you play not what you play!
You deserve more subs
"The best lvling spec available to shamans is enhancement" Maybe the easiest. The least fun and so on. I always lvl as elemental. It's fun! Interactive! And I get to do more than shock auto attack :D
Still dont Know if hunter or shaman
lol man me too .. i also dont know if hunter or shaman..
troll shaman #respect
Hmm most guides seem to recommend the shield one in Enhancement, so that's what I ended up going with over the Ancestral Knowledge. Oh well. Not worth respeccing xD
Nice basic guide. Not much subtlety here, but if you are introducing retail players to classic, this is the right way.
Too much subtlety to start with is pretty foolish, because without actual experience of gameplay it will just confuse most people.
funny...how everyone says different stuff about "what the best is". But noone does explain the word "best". One say enhancement ist the best others say element is the best. What does "best" even mean? smooth ? the fastest ? efficient per mana? efficient per health? ...no explain is giving and noone is asking for it, strange somehow.
I leveled multiple shamans and ima always open for new stuff...and what i can say from my experience is...
Elemental is the smoothest, fastest and the most efficient till 25-30.
1:47 i cant agree...you obviously are not experienced enough to manage your mana well.
I explain:
1# 1:15 you already said it...staves are important so staves are 2 handed and give the same attack power as 2 handed axe/mace without needing a talent point@ lvl 20.
2# You have to ask yourself what are the most spells you gonna use...probably lightening Bolt, flame shock, Searing totem
3# Where to find these spells? Right...in the elemental tree. 5 Points convection you last much longer now with your mana, 3 points fire totems. fire totem = 25 mana and deals tons of dmg. 2 points into concussion to boost the dmg and the last point into elemental focus to maximize all your dps. + you still swinging a 2 handed stave keep that in mind, also you can get the 2 handed quest stave from wailing caverns what has 20 dps @ lvl 20 around.
Enhancement:
Tier talents:
Option 1: shield specialisation...it offers basically nothing for shamans since we run around with staves, right?
option 2: Ancestral Knlowdege...5% max mana...oh well compare 5% max mana to a 10% perma mana reduce in the element tree then you will notice the 5 first points are brutal wasted into enhancement.
Tier 2 talents:
Option 1: So lets move to the next...we have in ehnacement improved lightening shield...its super amazing, problem is you dont want to recast it in between fightenig, you will run out of mana so its not the best scenario. Ideal would be you cast a spell 1x and then regen while fightening for the next target.
Option 2: lets compared the next 5 points spend vs the element tree...Thundering Strikes 5% Crit...looks ok but if you do the calculation then you will notice how bad it actually is. You swing a stave with 3.0 speed and also having a miss chance ...amen this talent is just not for early game. You will not notice the 5% at this stage of the game compared to a perma 15 % fire totem damage and 2% more spell damage.
Tier 3 talents:
Option 1: You chose 2 handed axe/mace...whats the point of it? you have 2 handed stave, it has the same attack power and same slow attack speed...
Tier 4 talents:
Flurry now Enhacment starts to get interesting...this talents is a absolut game changer. This is the time where you should start thinking about swapping from element to enhancement, cause element start to drain much mana since you go much deeper into elemental and basically start using spells only.
Perfect opener for shamans: lightening shield , flame shock, searing totem and not cast anything till the mob is dead and you go for the next target. if you fight 2 mobs at the same time you dont need to recast searing totem aswell since it has quiet good duration. Ima not lying to you if i say i didnt drink or eat a single time from 1-20.
If you have the money to re spec at lvl 20 ish then yes it's more efficient to go elemental the first levels and then swap to enhansement for the rest of the leveling. But most people won't even afford all spells and paying to re spec is not an option, therefore going enhansment from the start is recommended.
Loved
By the time you do the weapons of choice quest you should've completed WC which awards you a better staff than that hammer. Also, you mention that shamans rely on slow 2h. That hammer is 2.3 speed on 2h. Its even fast for a 1h.
You Executed that alliance nub.
Do people really call it parr-ey? Because they're wrong.
Toe-Tim-Ick
Fuck me. I've been split between hunter or shaman for ages now and the closer we come to vanilla wow, the more I am split :(
Show more PvP Clips :D
I wish I had more! Maybe I'll make a video just highlighting all the captured footage I have from a long time ago.
windfury with slow two handers? you have no clue what you're taking about
Good Guide .. but the Vanilla Shaman isnt all about WF T.T
Thanks. WF is nice when leveling, which is the focus of this video.
5:06 dude! You can't just casually disregard fake screen cover your absolutely destroying that mage!! Lmaooo i kid you not, i just insticitively was yelling OOOOH SHIT. Man got whopped
what about professions?!
For leveling? Any profession would do. Just make sure you include some gathering professions.
Skinning is a must while leveling.
It's just extra cash without any effort.. pure extra cash that will get ur lvl 40 mount 100% of the time.
The other one should be mining or herbalism for more cash.
That's untill lvl 60.
In lvl 60, u should drop off the skinning, as it served it's purpose and go with ur main proffesion.
Unless if u wanna go as leatherworking as ur main proffesion.. then u should drop herba/mining and keep the skinning.
Now it would be really helpfull if u have this planned and u know what that proffesion will be so u can already have that mining/herbalism ready, to help you with ur main proffesion.
For example if u're planning on doing pvp, engineer is a choice that u cannot avoid.. espeically as enchant shaman..
If u are pve healer then i'd say u go for enchanting/alchemy but there are other choices as well.
I love you
totematic
I thought this video was going to consist of 8:54 of frost shock
That's another option available to shamans. Take your pick.
first point @ 20 into 2H axes/maces? FUCK NO
the WC staff is easily the best weapon around level 20, use that until you hit Corpsemaker
people actually reached lvl 60 in a week ? ehh
Certainly not me!
it is helpfull

Nah
YEAP IN VANILLIA SHAMAN AND PALLY ARE THE BEST BUFFERS IN THE GAME , YOU CANT DO WITHOUT THEM ON DUNGEON AND RAIDS , ALSO SHAMAN IS THE ONLY CLASS IN THE GAME THAT COULD SELF REZ!!! SOMETHING YOU WANT IF YOU WHOLE GROUP GET WIPE
Really not a fan of classic videos with intros, or clips from retail
