Happy new year Gary. Nice to see you back on the beach having a leisurely day flounder fishing.🎣🎣🎣🎣. Target achieved. 👏👏 Informative as always.🧑🎓 Shame about the weather, but that's the NE for you.🌊🌀🌧️ Thanks for sharing.👍 Take care and stay safe.😷🙊
Superb video as always. It’s a great spot. had 15 flounder in a 3 hour evening session there last October - it looks a bit raw at the moment though. I might wait till it’s milder again. David Rogers the jarrow Viking did a great video from there in the summer catching the bass.
I enjoy most fishing videos related to catching ANY flatfish as I've had a bit of an obsession with them since I was about 18 well over 20 years, I've rigged up and casted for a m8 off a pier who reeled in a plaice the size of a dinner plate that didn't even give any bite indication and it was a simple 2 hook scratching rig with lugworm nothing else then 2 minutes later my spinning rod rigged up the same starts giving crazy bites and I star the retrieve and it's a smell plaice and just as I got it to the top of the pier to swing it in it dropped off, ever since then I've often gone to the same spot and other places where I have see flatfish being caught and I've had flatfish follow to the surface after putting out all the best rigs I can think of after watching so many different methods but I've still never landed one on hook n line, anyway good video enjoy watching people catching em all the same and I'm sure I'll get one one day probably when I'm not targeting them under unusual circumstances lol I can see it now deep water rock fishing with a bar spinner and catching one, who knows.
Hi Gary, I fancy giving that beach a go with a spot of night fishing, but up by the cannon. Have you ever fished that end and what's the ground like? On the beach I usually fish 2 rods, one with a big hook pennel pulley, and one with a 2 hook flapper. Curious if it's gonna be all flatties or if there's a chance of a cod or whiting along there. Keep up the good work mate!
Hi Ian, yes I've fished up that end a few times it's all clear ground from the beach but snaggy directly in front of the cannon. I havent had a cod from the big beach before but ive had a few bass from up there along with the flattys.
@@fishingintheukgarywood Thanks Gary. Appreciate the advice. There's only so many nights you can spend on the pier in winter before it gets a bit boring! Fancy giving Boaties Bay a go too, (or Smugglers Cove as I've always known it). The unknown ground is all that's putting me off. Thanks again Gary
Good morning I’ve just moved from the South to Seaham I haven’t fished since I was a kid (now 61) Can you recommend a basic kit (rod and reel) to get me started up again I’m just a short walk from Seaham pier I noticed you use small spinning kit as well as beachcasters Great videos BTW 🙏 thanks
Good morning Robert, take alook on veals.co.uk they have some good tackle on there or pop into a local tackle shop they would be able to advise you better than me on the tackle to use depending on what type of fishing you would like to try.
@@fishingintheukgarywood thanks I will I fancy a basic lightweight kit I can walk down to the pier with I’ll check your link Also I’ve found a shop in Shields called Rutherfords I’ll speak to them as well Thank you 🙏
Love the video buddy! It's great content, I've actually just moved to South Shields and have seen many people fishing. I have never fished before but would love to get into it (I'm a little clueless on it) I am on a (Budget) do you have any suggestions for and rods and gear needed for less than £100? Once I know how to fish properly then I'd look to invest much more on a better rod!:) Any recommendations would help me a ton as on Google it's not as helpful
Thanks mate, If you have time head into reelsport fishing tackle shop on Dean Road he will point you in the right direction for the tackle and the gear you need for the budget you have.
This is the kind of thing I finally good but annoying is seeing that you're using a simple set op with a couple of beads n hooks with mackerel and your hitting into em, I haven't tried fishing at low tide on my local beach where people catch bass and the occasional flatfish so I should try that next.
Nice little session despite the rain and with minimal gear and simple bait, my kind of fishing!
Mancing di pigiran pantai setrek ikan sebelah... sukses terus bang..
Thanks for braving that weather. Decent flatties mind.

Tooop
Good session.surprised at bait choice as around the Thames you'd be lucky to catch on anything other than worm.Nice one mate
Thanks Paul. The mackerel works well for them in the rivers around here aswell sometimes I think it does better than the worm.
Nice one mate 👍 ps nice meeting you the other day at the Don.
Thanks, you too mate 👍
Enjoyed that mate but looked a bit nippy 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it mate 👍

That will probably be the case. You'll get one when you least expect it.
Gonna give the mackerel a go is it fresh or frozen I'm in morecambe so we have fairly flat beaches
It was frozen mackerel fillets.
