    I loved a lot of the games Midway published back in the day. Gauntlet Legends immediately comes to mind.
    It was the 3d games they were cranking out in the late 90's-early 2000's that I really dug. They had one that was sort of a 3rd-person arcade~ish shooter. I can't remember the name, but it had playable Mortal Kombat characters lol.
    Ofcourse their involvement in so many fighting games meant a lot to me, too 👌
    It was cool to hear you delve into their past in the form of a timeline of sorts. Yeah, I liked this series, although I'm not too sure what I think you should tackle next 🙏

      Thanks man glad you liked this one and yeah I spent an insane amount of money on Gauntlet legends in the arcadeI think I had a few chars at 99 by the end of it lol. Not sure about the shooter you mentoned though I'm drawing a blank on that one.

    I've known a good bit about Midway's downfall from watching other stuff (specifically Wha Happun), but I'm always interested in learning more. Midway Arcade Treasures volumes 1 & 2 were two of my favorite OG Xbox games.

      glad you enjoyed it , I deliberately avoided his video because I didn't want it to influence this one in a direction that it would seem like the same thing all over again. I hope you got something new out of mine you didn't get from his :).

    Really cool new series, I can't wait for the Sunsoft EP!
    I feel like even though Konami isn't dead, it's dead to me and deserves an EP too LOL.

      Yeah i would have liked to see what they could have done had they adapted better to the changes happening around them. They had such a unique sound and feel to their games it really is a shame they are gone

    I didn't realize how much a gaming influence Midway had on my childhood. It wasn't until I got older that realized that they had their hands in all of my arcade favorites. Rampage may be my number one of their catalog.
    I love hearing about these older gaming companies. This is gonna be a great series. Thanks Geeks 👌🏼

    • @geekstorian
      @geekstorian  8 місяців тому +1

      Yeah Rampage is a great game and a hugely fun coop style game as well. They had tons of other games they did in the 80s that I didn't even mention that they either made in house or distributed. They really were massively influantial in the industry for a long LONG time!

    Mortal Kombat was a very exciting time to play games in the arcade. Maybe play some music from the games and commercials to give a sense of how hyped it was? Any zoomer watching this video isn't going to appreciate how wild it was when those games hit the Arcade. NBA Jam was massive as well in the arcade. I'd jump from Mortal Kombat to Killer Instinct to NBA Jam. The fact you could recognize the NBA players faces and body size for the first time along with amazing game play made that game a smash hit.

      Yeah it does miss a little something without the music I agree thats kind of on me I've done that kind of work on videos before I think I was in the headspace of this flow feels fine lets leave it like this. Good to see you btw Marty I haven't seen you comment in a while!

      yeah man they crashad hard in the early 2000s. Its surprising to because they were MASSIVE in the 90s and had some of the most fun arcade ports in the early 00s. Also yeah a lot of the IPs we know them for are still running hydro thunder, mortal kombat that sort of thing!
