Just had to play Survival Run for my stream tonight and someone in chat linked to you. Gotta say, after seeing you in my chat for quite awhile, good informative content. Good work.
Glad you enjoyed it man thanks for giving some of my stuff a shot!
The Colecovision was the first console to have Nintendo games.
I believe your right there as they had console rights to donkey kong first and im pretty sure that hit comsoles before mario bros
@geekstorian I think Mario Bros came out later. They also had Popeye which was Nintendo too and Donkey Kong Jr
@geekstorian Popeyes was published by Parker Brothers but it essentially a Nintendo game as it was an adaptation of the arcade.
Time Crisis and Police 911 were both games at my home town arcade! They were always my favorite, but now they are gone and nobody knows what happened to them 😢
We owe Ralph Baer a big thank you.
absolutely!
Completely disagree here. Nintendo only saved the market in North America. Japan and Europe did terrific with computers as there was no video game crash. Also that 'seal of quality' was just an excuse for Nintendo to officially give permission to developers to make games. I get a little tired of Nintendo being seen as a saviour when it was a mixture of circumstances, ruthless business practices and region that got them success. 😆
Nintendo made a lot of great games. Ruthless?? Literally every successful company is ruthless. Computers never died because they were used for multiple purposes besides gaming. Nintendo saved game consoles. That's a big deal because PCs at the time were capable of making better games than any console and that's still the case but dedicated gaming consoles remain popular.
@@user-or6yn8pm3c People were still playing games when the NES came out. Also yes they were completely ruthless in their business practices and had to be taken to court over that.
@pferreira1983 What big company isn't ruthless and doesn't get taken to court? The US government attempted to break up Microsoft over 25 years ago and failed.
@@pferreira1983 The original NES in 1988 was $99. A good gaming computer like the Amiga was $2000 to $3000 in those days. A game console was way more affordable for most people.
@@pferreira1983 Nintendo isn't the only player in game consoles today. You have Microsoft and Sony and you have the Steamdeck.
The thing about the Jaguar is you never saw its full power because developers really didn't know how to make the most of the technology.
I’ve always wanted to play this game, and I love taiko drums in general! Fantastic production values-can’t wait to check out the rest of your content!
Thank you so much glad you enjoyed this one and my content in general. Also I agree Taiko drums just look fun!
Taiko isnt a rare game. Its one of the most popular video games next to DDR and Para Para paradise in Japan.
Comix Zone actually makes sense considering the amount of moves it has you can pull off.
PF! Good to see you commenting man its been a MINUTE! Hope your new years going well and yeah your right!
@@geekstorian It's going as well as it could be, thanks. 😊
This was pretty informative. Had no idea this was the first. I thought it was Tennis for Two. Yay British! 😁
Yeah this was just before i believe they were pretty close together.
I have this on Ps2 Taiko Drum Master, with the box and 🥁 drum. Nice video
Nice man! Glad someone in the community had some of these good to see you btw!
❤
Thanks for coming by Batman!
Interesting! Are electromechanical games still being made?
Not that I've seen, I've seen videos of them being restored and in collectors hands . Outside of pinball skeeball and the like if you want to lump those in. Those are often still made and sold. Pinballs making an ok comeback as people rediscover it and now have the money to afford personal cabinets. Thanks for hanging out btw!
@geekstorian Thanks, I'd love to see more that's made with today's technology! They're refreshing to see as they're like very few things nowadays that are made for amusement that don't rely on screens much, apart from board games and redemption machines, mainly pachinko.
The funniest things about souls like is their beginnings for me. Miyazaki looked at demons souls as an experimental playground. Since the game at an earlier stage was deemed a failure, miyazaki said "I could do whatever I wanted and it wouldn't reflect badly of me since it was already deemed a failure" I'm paraphrasing. The funniest part was that Sony had a problem with the games difficulty from the get go. They legit asked miyazaki to make the game easier. He lied straight to their face saying he did while changing nothing about the game XD. This is my favorite genre of games. Even though I'm not as old a fan as I'd like to be. My first game was lies of P and I just kinda fell into the hole 😅.
Ironically you got your entry in one of the later games I went back to this one and pushed through this one, that may have been a mistake as I didn't find it quite as rewarding as you found your experience. I got it done but its not an experience I would care to go through again personally as impressive as the world and flexibility is. Thank you for sharing the tidbits you learned about the series along your journey though I'll have to keep those in mind if I do a deeper dive into the further evolution of the series which is kind of beyond what this particular short series is about. Also thanks for hanging out and watching!
@geekstorian yeah playing demon souls was kinda a kick to the face after the other ones. Like looking at my weapon and seeing arcane symbols that told me jack about the weapon stats had me taken a back. But that wasn't the remake. But hey respect on going through the game despite the difficulties. Hope to keep seeing great things from your channel.
I was in love with this system as a kid. I have very fond memories of this system. ,😃
Glad to hear man! thank you for coming by and sharing as well as watching!
Metroid sucked me in when I was around 7 or 8. Bombing every wall, exploring creepy new areas, I was fully invested!
Yeah man! this was the first NES game my mom bought me as a kid what a GREAT game to start out on. I had this and my brother had Zelda killer pair of games to have so early!
I Never Play This Thing Before?
Demons Souls? its a solid game VERY VERY hard and not to everyones taste as a result heh. Good to see you Mattis!
Never beat a "Souls" game, never will 😂
Trust me I beat this one and the experience was not as gratifying as you think! Glad I made it through it but good lord!
@geekstorian yeah I don't feel the need to "git gud". I have far too many other games that I want to play, to even have time for that
❤
Good to see you Batman!
Thanks for the analysis! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
no real idea how to answer this for you sorry out of my area of expertise thanks for coming by though!
I hope that some day we will see new entery in the Aero the Acro-Bat game series, it had very unique atmosphere and chill gameplay.
you know I never got into Aero for some reason it never jived with me always happy to see more platformers though thanks a ton for coming by and hanging out!
Had 1 of these as a kid and it never worked 1 time
That sucks man I'm sorry. It looked like a neat console for the time pity yours never worked right.
@geekstorian it was maybe 1992 so it had lived it's life already. I just happened to think about it today and how I have no idea what it could do till this day so I searched it up and tried your video. Gave me closure kinda 😂 I appreciate it.
@@NekroBroly hahaha Hey at least you got some closer. Merry Christmas , Happy Holidays whatever you celebrate!
@@geekstorian Merry Christmas bro happy holidays and all that.
0:42 "whats up Mattiszilla" Was The Greatest Moments
lol glad you came by man!
@geekstorian call me Matt not mattis that name Is nonsense
Back in the early 2000's I made 2 ROM hacks of Lolo 1 and 2 called Challenging Lolo 1 and 2. Coming up with rooms and also ensuring the solution is only doable one way is quite the hard task.
Thats awesome! Also yeah designing puzzles is something a lot of people think would be far easier than it is but its honestly really hard to not only come up with one with a specific solution but to make it somewhat rationally understandable to the audience. The fact you got full ROM hacks done is impressive thanks for coming by and hanging out. Loved doing this one so I hope you enjoyed it!
anyone have the old apollo 14 em game ?
Not me sorry though i do kind of want to dig into this one now it looks like one of those old fixed time score focused games. Thanks for coming by and hanging out btw!
Strange game yeah, I’d like to try it though…mainly just because of my great love of bread. 😊
Lol good to see you hummus thanks for coming by!
I tried this, it was so bad 😂
Yeah i never heard many good things about the gameplay but its definitely unitque!
The bread is sentient. But it too seeks a purpose to its life. Its purpose and meaning is to become toast.
Lol thanks for coming by man!
can you imagine what he pitch sounded like.?
I imagine everyone was high and VERY hungry and probably just thought he was going to make them some toast ;)
Epic
Thanks for coming by Batman!
I used to enormously enjoy the cabinet version of this game back in 1990 in West Berlin. A blast! As teens, we also used to jack ourselves up with hot chocolate drinks from a nearby located dispenser. Sugar, chocolate and Afterburner high.😊
Ok this story put a huge smile on my face thank you so much for sharing it! Also thank you so much for coming by I really appreciate it !
I love Megaman, i think my favorite are Legends or maybe ine of the Battle Network games
Hey Henry good to see you! You know i missed legends entirely i think it was PS only and i didnt have one of those till the PS3. Network for some reason i never vibed with likely because it was more turn based and i was used to the platforming style. Good picks though you can never go wrong with megaman!
@geekstorian yeah the turn based gameplay can be a turn off but younger me liked it for handheld gameplay
It is by far the best controller for WipEout. Period. Nothing even comes close. Still have them. All three versions. The first one was the best.
Awesome, what was up with the others just not as tightly designed or responsive? Also thanks for hanging out!
@@geekstorian All of them used different components inside the controller. The first one was made in South Korea and had "Asian eyebrow" shaped shoulder buttons when looking at it straight from the front. The second one was made in China and had more block shaped shoulder buttons. Those were not particularly worse, but different. That's the one here in the video. The third version was black, smaller/slimmer and with a different rather profiled than flat shape on the rear. Also was it Japan only. I haven't used them in years, but if I remember right, the analogue buttons of both the white versions had a longer stroke and that was better. I still have them in the cellar alongside the old grey first gen Playstation and PS2 and all the WipEout games.
We got an old Videopak from my uncle and still have it to this date. It was our first introduction to gaming!
Thats awesome thank you for sharing and sorry it took me so long to respond its been one of those weeks heh!
Blizzard I would openly adore..Diablo,the Crafts..lot a girl left me because of this company..ha.!
I think almost everyone lost themselves to one of these games at some point or another! Good to see you btw!
@@geekstorian I always fear how corporates swallow brilliant minds..but..shizz the bizz..right.?
❤
thanks for coming by man!
Tim Curry was in a Frankenstein game too
Ok i didnt know that thats kinda cool hi btw luke!
@geekstorian yeah it was a point and click game on PC and Sega Saturn
1983 Chuck Norris, then 1984, Daley Thompson
Senjou no Kizuna....
Yep i knew the japanese name for it and a few people have msntioned it thank you and thank you for watching!
if you want a laugh play type and tell and type in the lyrics of Easy e Give that nut
If I am not mistaken it's called "senjou no kizuna II" I never been to Japan but this game was one of the reasons I wish I could visit Japan. I think the PSP version has a similar name to it and I wish I could get my hands on it. Or if someone would be able to port the arcade version to PC. I think I heard a rumor about a new version of this game being made.
I think your 100% right on the name i just knew there was no way i would prnounce that properly and i saw bonds of the battlefielld so prominently that i used that. Id like to at least try out the psp version myself assuming i can find mine and its battery hasnt saollwn to the size of a house!
Rare definitely played a big part in keeping the system relevant at the time
Absolutely rare and nintendo itself put in a ton of serious work akklaim with turok and midway also did a lot of work as well! Thanks for hanging out btw always appreciated!
I've heard of this one but never had the chance to play it. The cabinet design looks similar to the Star Wars Battle Pod. Granted SWBP didn't have multiplayer or internet play AFAIK. Crazy cabinets like this are the reason I've stayed with the arcades my entire life. I couldn't care less for ticket redemption or mobile apps dressed up as arcade cabinets.
Inolayed star wars battle pod in vegas that thing was a blast and i thought the same thing you did when i saw this one. Your right also this had a lot more features in it. Thabks for hanging out and checking this one out btw!
You can still play this at the Funspot arcade in Laconia, NH today. Still amazing gameplay, nearly 40 years on.
That's awesome those are still making the rounds I don't think I've seen any of them in the retro arcades near me yet so I'm a little jealous! Thanks for coming by and hanging out btw always appreciated!
This is the mecha game I'd always dreamed of playing as a kid. Yup, I have played the psp port coz I'm a pirate but wow, the arcade machine is just amazing. The game card thing seems pretty common. They even have it for those print club machines... speaking of, you might wanna cover that at some point.
ok I just looked that up it looks like it was made by Atlus and made stickers from aa phtoograph it took of you is that right? Its a cool idea kind of like the photo booths that printed out a small strip of photos here in the states.. How was the PsP version btw?
I've never seen this monster.!..thank you for make envious like f.but I agree the model..all the bizz, run the shizz..
yeah maan its a super cool cabinet I was stoked to find it thanks for coming by btw!
Cool machine! Never saw it before obviously lol
yeah i never did either but thats not surprising given it was only ever in japan. Good to see you btw man!
This cabinet sounds awesome, and it looks amazing
I know right its a wild looking one I would really like a shot at playing it! Always good to see you Luke!
@geekstorian yeah just walking into an arcade and seeing this, you'd just HAVE to try it
absolutely you would!!!!
Amazing
thanks man!
Awesome video, thanks for making it! Police 911 2 is my favorite arcade game, and I had the good fortune of obtaining a cabinet earlier this year. I actually have some footage of it on my channel. BTW, I'm pretty sure the sensors are ultrasonic rather than IR. I don't think IR sensors can detect distances very well past like a couple of inches.
You may be right i dont recall what i found fully at this point but i thought they had said IR. Really glad you enjoyed this one though thanks for coming by and hanging out!
