    It's the movie where director Wes Anderson really came out with his now instantly-recognizable style, Rushmore is on its surface the story of a prep-school overachiever, but underneath the surface of the 60s-esque color palette, it’s a poignant story, and a true example of film as art.
    And not only should you watch “Rushmore” before you die, you should watch it before the Oscars this year. Along with Grand Budapest Hotel, for which Wes Anderson earned a Best Director and Best Picture Nomination.
    Also, Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray are awesome in this movie.

    Grand Budapest is definitely my favorite Wes Anderson movie. It definitely deserves all the awards it has been nominated for :) I really should rewatch Rushmore... it's been years since I've seen it.

      For sure. As a high schooler, I'd say Rushmore would be appropriate for middle schoolers.

    My dad was a teacher at St. John's, where Rushmore was filmed, here in Houston and actually met Bill Murray while he was on break. And Bill was smoking a cigarette, and my dad told him he's being a bad influence on the kids and shouldn't smoke. And so Bill actually stopped smoking his cigarette was never seen smoking unless his character needed to on film.
    It's also one of my favorite movies, and Wes Anderson is one of my favorite directors since I'm from Houston too and definitely influenced me and opened my eyes to the "indie style" of filmmaking and aesthetic.
    Also, in my opinion, I think Boyhood should win Best Picture because even tho I love Anderson's aesthetic and appeal and yes he does go one step farther with his style with every movie. I just think Boyhood is so one of a kind and at the same time the first of its kind.

    I love all of Wes Andersons films, but if I have to choose one it would be The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, I just love how ideosyncratic it is; nevertheless I believe Rushmore is one of those films that just acomplishes everything, there is no low point in this masterpiece.

    Rushmore is the one Wes Anderson movie I feel deserves another rematch for myself. I really liked it on the first viewing, but I think I could gain more on a second viewing. As for my favorite Wes Anderson film, it’d be The Royal Tenenbaums, but The Grand Budapest Hotel has been growing on me a lot after each rewatch.

    I've seen most of Wes Anderson's films, but ironically enough but Rushmore haha. I'll push it to the top of my watch list.
    I think Moonrise Kingdom is my favorite Wes Anderson movie, but I love them all. He's a true original. I'd love to see him get awarded for his work, but I think this year is really competitive with movies like Birdman and Boyhood nominated. Ultimately, I think the director for Birdman should probably win. One day, Wes...

      @SambabaL 9 років тому

      Well, it's definitely a Wes Anderson movie and it reminded me a lot of The Royal Tenenbaums. Just like with that movie I enjoyed the characters and their interactions with one another a more than the plot.
      Say, do you like Latin, miss Wahl?

    • @MackenzieWahl
      @MackenzieWahl 9 років тому

      I never got to take Latin which I really regretted when it was time to take the SAT. But they took vocab words off my year so it all worked out in the end ;)

      @SambabaL 9 років тому

      Hmm, interesting, I will have to look up one of those words, for I am Dutch and not completely familiar with them. I shall also build you fish-tanks now and advice you to quite smoking regardless if you didn't smoke already.

    Rushmore is a good movie but nowhere near the height of his powers. Grand Budapest, The Royal Tenenbaums or the darjeeling limited. He doesn't demonstrate his iconic and perfect use of colour in this film at all. This movie is technically significantly less impressive than almost everything he did afterwards.
