Most accurate portrayal of a Scottish person in film history
"I alw-ys wanted ta be ehn one-uh yer fukin' pleys."
"I know, mate. I know."
:*)
the best part is Magnus deep down wanted to play a role in theatre but never got the chance that's the brilliance of this character - untapped potential.
A great moment in Rushmore regarding Magnus I never noticed until recently- when they are performing the final play, Max gets hit by accident for real by a bayonet, by one of the actors...Magnus yells out "Fischer!" and gives the guy who hit Max a full on fucking death stare, until he knows Max is okay. It's a really nice little moment that shows in their small way, they became friends.
i love that about this too, and how honest they are with each other.
"I always wanted to be in one of your fucking plays." Hilarious.
Besides, now we're even.
Not for long, Kemosabe.
CLASSIC.
What are you a lawyer!? 😂 😂 And "Is that Latin?" 😂 😂 Two of the funniest lines in a movie full of funny lines
I heard that Wes Anderson at one point had considered filming Rushmore in Scotland. I'd have loved to see that!
@@1nikg am sure it would have turn out fine it just hold a special place for me because it was filmed in my City / School (no hate for Scotland -Lol )
@@1nikg Lol i didn't even took it that way i took it as curiosity - we're cool!👍
'DON GE NASTY BROTHER' great line - awesome film
The actor's name is Stephen McCole. Check him out in a Glaswegian film called Orphans from 1998. Along with Rushmore, one of the best dark comedies ever.
dont get nasty brother !
"I've gotta hand it to you Magnus, you've got a way with words"
My last name is Buchan, and I approve this freakin' video.
Love the interactions with Max and Magnus
What are you, a lawyer?
RIP Benny Harvey. Miss you big man.
I met Benny Harvey at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to Earth and VERY funny!
Probably the only film in history with a real Scottish actor, that actually sounds Scottish and acts Scottish😂
He didn’t act very Scottish at one point. I mean, he punched max, a real Scotsman would have head butted him.
“Was that Latin?”
Did anyone else notice the bird caws in the background in almost every scene with Buchan?
note also that Max bikes past a "no weapons" sign right before encountering a kid with a knife.
“Best play ever, man” - Mr. Littlejeans. To this day, my favorite movie ever.
I like that kid that appears in almost every scene, even under water....
Loved this movie since it came out. It's perfect to me. Here after seeing a character I ALWAYS knew was familiar to me in 'Band of Brothers,' Moose Heyliger, and finally googling him. It's effing Buchan!
When I first watched the movie it left me pretty sad, but honestly more of these moments were funny than I had remembered.
Wes must have felt so weird going back to his school to make his movie!
Max is now back on his A game . all he has to do is toss a copy of his play to his worst enemy and instantly converts him to a friend. the Max who could read people has returned
That long pause before the kid says, "Max would never say that." Heartbreaking.
I love how it’s never explained that one scene takes place on Halloween. You just have to deduce it. Storytelling elements without saying a word. I miss this era of Wes.
This movie was so good. I always try to mimic magnus, but just can't pull it off.
I like how Dirk didn’t actually believe the rumor about his mom, he was mad that Max lied and tried to brag about it
"We got him, Dirk. We got him."
I love that a random Scottish thug is going to an elite private school in Texas! Lol! Wtf?!
I love the fact that the protagonist is such a lousy fighter, haha!
Max is one of the crappiest protagonists in film history, but that's sort of the point--he thinks he can do anything, but can barely do anything.
Max Fischer, the most detestable protagonist ever.
He really is. And since he doesn't actually grow up at the end of the movie (he stages a cutesy play, which is something he would have done at the beginning of the movie) he stays detestable along with the movie, which fails because of him. To make matters worse, this film would become a hit and influence other quirky, terrible, yet somehow critically acclaimed indie comedies to also have young protagonists who remain quirky and immature at the end of their films, like "Juno" and "Ruby Sparks."
Was that Latin?
I like your nurse’s uniform, guy.
HAHA!!! That's very funny! Thanks for uploading it!
Is that... Catsup?
haha.
a fucken lie?
Bloody Jagyar!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Chokkan41 Actually it's "Who Sold You That Crock?" Check the subtitles.
one time or another, We all knew a Magnus!
My exact type lol
NOTFERLANGKIMASABI
I saved Latin. What did you ever do?
Magnus is that guy in school you think about making freinds with but turns out to be a nasty bully you avoid every moment
You could tell he was jealous of max but in the end he just wanted to be his friend
+TheMoscardinoReviews @ 0:43
@doublemandala Holy shit I would have never noticed that. Good call.
..."Who sold you that CROCK?"..
Dennis the Menace at 2:00
Biff 💪
Magnus would have been a good hockey fighter. Threw that mask down like a set of gloves and squared up.
It was worth it
William Blake
Take notes please.
Why is that angry Scottish man a student at an American boys' prep school? 🤣
William Blake Kevin and hell
LOLies
woah its the founder of the sexualwissenschaft!!!!! (dont look it up)
hahaha my name is magnus bichan! :)
Big show, no results.
it's Heaven and Hell by William Blake 🎉
Legends
Just another classic scene in a classic movie where every character in the story gets the chance to redeem themselves. I love this movie so much
