    Greatand very info dense video, but I would love for it to have a bigger sample size(especially when differences between the BCARs is so small). I suspect that the 20deg only performs noticably better in high powered blasters lke the one you used. The 10deg angle is probably designed for mid fpr blasters where less spin is necessary and high angles cause excess fps loss(I definitly cloud be wrong tough

    I hate the commercialization of the hobby, and its good to see that the DIY approach was just as useful as fancy bearings.

    If the square one's had the same attachment as the round ones they would be perfect. This system will rely on how good the bearings are and how well they contact and spin. Hope they used sealed ones. Great vid as always.ThankQ.TkEZ>UK

      Yeah you definitely couldn't expect to say, core sample the earth with your barrel and then have one of these bearing scar barrels still function.
      The Dsfrick attachment method is quite ingenious.

    Great vid. Did you notice if the rivets/bearings chew or rip up darts more than strung scars?

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  2 роки тому +9

      When I picked up the darts, none of them had any sign of wear from the testing I did. But they were all only fired once each. Perhaps over a long period of time the rivets may mark them more.

    great tests, I do believe that having a larger sample size would make the accuracy better to judge though. There were a few flyers that could have thrown off the results, and a larger sample size could have countered that. Not that you had to show yourself firing them all, but having some more dots on the final images might help making differences more obvious.

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  2 роки тому

      The fact some of them had fliers at all makes them bad. They should not have those if they want to be considered accurate.

    • @GremlinSciences
      @GremlinSciences 2 роки тому +1

      @@BradleyPhillipsYT Even with good ammo, you sometimes get a few bad rounds in a batch. If you run 100 rounds through each and most of the darts hit a tight group but you get just 1 or 2 of those flying off, they're probably faulty or damaged darts
      Remember, you're working with soft foam darts; parts of the dart can get crushed or torn if they don't feed perfectly, which will hurt accuracy more than any rifling could help.
      The PLA 10 did have a pretty bad showing though, that stray might have been a bad dart, but I wouldn't call it that much of an improvement over no rifling when the other darts were all barely fitting on the target. The 12 rivets might deserve another test though, that was a pretty tight grouping other than that stray.

    Off topic, is the s100 legal in Australia? I’ve ordered one from mm and I’m concerned as my last 2 shipments from them have been seized by abf. Can it be considered an air rifle? 1st shipment seized was released minus a worker suppressor. Going through the process on the second but they reckon an extended 3D printed prophecy hand guard plus rails is an air rifle part, go figure. I’ve got a s100 in the mail before the second shipment was seized but I’m worried that this’ll be snatched by our over zealous friends at the abf. Whaddya reckon? I’m afraid if this is seized that’s curtains for my hobby

  • @nerferx
    @nerferx 2 роки тому

    So... no base line for a decent stringed scar to show the fps loss or difference vs none and the bearings... I dont lose fps in my stringed scars, being they are tight bore and act like barrel extentions.

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  2 роки тому +1

      If you were to use a longer barrel plus one of these you could achieve a higher velocity, as string generally reduces the velocity by around 10%. The fact you're using a shorter than optimal barrel and then adding a string scar doesn't change that.

    • @nerferx
      @nerferx 2 роки тому +1

      @@BradleyPhillipsYT I would strongly disagree. Non ported scar, set to 17° with the same ID of the barrel and an increase in fps would say otherwise on all my Zeus's.
      My Swift would also disagree with its total of 740mm of barrel and non ported tight bore scar doing over 400fps with the scar on, and loosing 30fps with out it... the Swift today was pumping out shots well over 120m with that set up at the game today and always within a couple of feet of the target at max range.
      I had a ludicrous 50m range advantage today, and used it to its full advantage of it making the other teams life insanely difficult today, and I got a ton of tags with very little competition...
      Yet to see a single blaster of yours using your math doing those numbers or ranges, regardless of your set ups and scars Bradley.

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  2 роки тому +1

      @@nerferx if you're gaining velocity from your scar barrel, it likely means your actual barrel isn't long enough.
      Also 120m is further than both Airsoft or Paintball can shoot so looks like you'd have a lot of people interested if you brought that to market.

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  2 роки тому

      @@nerferx as for shooting 400fps, our velocity limit is 300fps here so I have no incentive to go higher. It is obviously quite achievable with anything large volume like the Swift, S100 or Sabre though given a large enough spring and long enough barrel.
