My house has old Brazil Cherry floor - can I sand and stain to the same white oakish color as Jasmine did here?

I was waiting for the grand kitchen in this budget
living room bookcases, entry, fireplace , moving walls. that glass door alone was probably $20k
While I like the new style in general I don't know why everything needs to be so white. Its not warm and not practical with little children and it won't stay that way for long.
mid century modern is white white white, especially near the beach.
