Such as the eventual insubordination event - the seeds were in fact planted in the beginning, the conflict between duty and love of a friend, and how a single event of friendly fire led to the series of events no one could've anticipated.

That’s kind of stupid to ask that. Those little ten year old boys acted as apprentices. Women didn’t belong on ships in those time and boys that wanted to be an sailor or be in the navy when they grow up would need experience. Apprenticeship was the norm back in those days and I’m guessing the boys were either poor or didn’t have a home. Also women suck, I doubt any woman now or back in those times would even want to be around 50 hot sweaty drunk English men that didn’t shower for years on end.

      1. Because the men would not have followed a woman (Joan of Arc and Boudicca being two of the very rare exceptions in history). 2. Having a woman on board a ship out at sea for months at a time with a crew of male sailors in the 1700s or 1800s would have simply been a terrible idea for her safety. 3. The 10 year old boy was probably from a higher social class, so had higher rank. It wasn't about age so much as about social position, often obtained by the status of the officer's father in society. 4. Most women of this time period would not have wanted to live such a life or do such a thing, probably because they were more intelligent than the average man. etc.

@@Myrdden71 supposedly it was also superstitious bad luck to have a woman on board. But also, sometimes it was even in a ship's governing articles/rules.
But then there are the tales of a few women disguising themselves on pirate ships - a very few cuz that would've been very hard to keep up, but pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read were accepted as crew but also it helped to be the captain's partner / mistress like with Anne and Jack Rackham. But Anne was also a good sword fighter and harmed or killed / dispensed with anyone who didn't accept her so that matter was probably settled pretty quickly at the onset.
Also there's an Irish lady who was a famous pirate and there was Shin Zhe of Canton China who married the captain of a 70,000 member pirate crew / fleet on the terms that she'd get half his fleet upon wedding and took over the whole fleet when her husband died. The Chinese government eventually paid them to quit and she retired in her mind thirties rich, opened a casino and lived through her 60's.
One wonders what other stories there were that we don't know just cuz they were never told / printed.
