  • Hi friends :)
Summer is in full swing and the Cicadas have officially taken over here in middle TN. I am so thankful for this time to get outside and check off some tasks that I have been putting off. Today we finally cleared out the flower beds on the far side of our house. There were rose bushes (I think..? lol) from the previous owner. I have no issues with rose bushes, but these almost looked like 3 plants in one. I just haven't liked them since we moved in, but Chris asked me to leave them last year since we spent so much on the rest of the outdoor renovations. There is a time for everything and I'm thankful it was finally time to see those bushes go :)
What should we plant over on that side of the house now? I am really intrigued by perennial herbs like Mint, Lavender, Oregano, and Sage. But I also know that I would love some type of flowering bush as well. Another fun option would be trying to propagate my Hydrangea bushes and bring some over to the this other side of the house. I absolutely LOVE hydrangeas and would not be upset if we had more blooming around our home :)
There is still a ton of work to be done out here but at least we got started. We are so thankful to have y'all here on this journey with us and we can't wait to see you on the next one!
    God Bless You,
    Chris & Emily Sasser

Personally wish you had heavily pruned the roses 😅 they needed to be cut back badly and probably would have helped. But they definitely were looking ugly lol
Plant the two peonies on either side of your porch steps! Will be beautiful spring color and you can plant a long flowering summer flower with it to fill in when it stops growing. Maybe even some calla lillies for June flowering right after the peony goes by :) then plant like cone flowers and black eyed Susan’s all around it which will also spread and fill in and give all summer color :)
This summer is a major garden/grounds clean up and prettying at my new place too 🤗

You are just adorable! I LOVE the green color you chose for your shutters. Do you happen to remember the name of the color?
