These cristian/gospel songs are of a higher level. Light was shining through at that time.

An interesting take on it. An album so flooded with The Spirit of YAH has an appeal to a materialist?
Even though this is from his (underrated) Christian album, all of his music has an almost spiritual element to it. What a legend
He scorned the Press because they wanted to make him the "spokesman for the Generation" in the 60s, even though he said he never said that or wanted to be that, when this album came out they mocked it and him and didn't want him to speak about anything anymore.

@@timothydillow3160 people have been trying to make him out as one thing or another all his life, then call out 'Judas' or whatever when he does something 'different', but when I read/listen to all the things he's said he seems very consistent. He changes sure but the attitude towards his art is the same

Interesting. This just popped up in my feed. I had two tickets for this show. I was unsure of the date but now I have it! My daughter was born 8/22/1979 and our babysitter cancelled on us last minute so I drove down to the venue to sell the tickets at $10 each for good seats. There were no takers and there was this young hippie couple with no money who were dying to see him so I gave them the tickets! One that I am sorry that I missed but it felt good to help them out. Just adding to the Karma Bank I guess...

The amount of energy in these songs, also after ~half a century, can only be expected to continue to flow. What a delicious tune, what a musicians, what a background vocals, what an amazing singer, what an unique event in 20th century art.
Don't forget the nuclear lyrics. But yes this performance has everything to stir up one's soul. Might be even better then the original release. Typically Dylan as he did so many times before.

I actually really dig this album, the religious parts to it are real and true as is the rest of the song. I love hearing this side to him.
To this day Bob Dylan is singing his songs about The Saviour. Look up his set list of the last couple of years (and also this year when he was in Europe). You will notice that he always sings "Gotta serve Somebody" and "Every grain of Sand". Dylan never made it a secret that he is a Bible believing man. Another favorite song of him is "All along the Watchtower". Very spiritual song as well about the war at Har Meggido (Armageddon). Dylan the great songwriter followed in the footsteps of his ancestor king David.
Love all his gospelalbums, pure joy. Bob has been very brave by singing words of wisdom and love.

I love this album, in fact every album of his. I Believe In You is a good ballad. As usual I love his lyrics and rhymes. Apart from Dylan what I like is the way Dire Straits's Mark Knopfler and Pick Withers backed him up. In fact the riff of this song sounds a little like the Sultans of Swing riff.
