Another example of the downsides of abstraction, whether AI can ever be truly "open source", and the security benefits and drawbacks of different types of VPN.

Versa Director is more or less an orchestrator for their SD-WAN solution, so if you compromise the Director, you may compromise the entire network. Exposing it directly to the internet is just stupid and unecessary.

IP tunneling or VPN 2 different things and I seem to be confused?

Yes they are different things but they share some core principles. Apart from all the technical details, the main difference is the use case. IP tunnelling is usually used to bridge two different endpoints or networks making them appear to be directly connected and while usually insecure, it can also be encrypted to add a layer of privacy and security.
A VPN is usually more intended to extend a network over some other infrastructure( usually the internet) in a sort of overlay. It is heavily used for remote access where you need to remotely access some network( like accessing your corporate network while working from home) and nowadays it is almost always encrypted.
In light of this, what "privacy VPNs" do is more akin to tunnelling than to a normal VPN since you are just using it to bridge your computer to a server and exit to the internet. The privacy is because they are usually encrypted but it is a bit of a stretch because while your ISP may not be able to see the details of your traffic, the VPN provider certainly can so in a way you are just change who can see it (and yes it has some other uses but that is not the point here).
This is just an very very oversimplified explanation but i hope it helps in some way.

Sorry, I don't know your names but that American guy is speaking for like 90% of the show. And his opinions aren't even good.

Hi. I assume you mean Jim. In this episode Jim spoke for a total of 17 minutes and 48 seconds (17.8 minutes). The episode was 30 minutes and 19 seconds (30.31 minutes).
      So 17.8/30.31=0.587
59% of the episode. Quite a lot, yes. But not 90%. Hopefully this clears it up for you.

@@JoeRessington Thanks Joe! And don't forget about the ad read which brings that percentage up even higher. There's three of you. I'd like to hear from others as well. All the best.

@@DexieTheSheep No he didn't. There's plenty of lies over the internet and this is a "Linux" show... Sure, bunch of propagandists.
Evidence and lack of evidence always shows.
