This dude reminds me of disrupt, I love this form of content, when videos aren’t videos but a whole experience it’s amazing
Calling Mitnick , 'some guy' would be the most hilarious part of this video. xd
hahaha it was supposed to be a bit of a tease. he plays a large part in the second part coming out soon!
@@InternetUnderground 😜👍👍👍
Bro absolutely needs more subs. these vids go crazy
Its AI
@@Mitch-ub3ngthis ain’t ai brotha man
Most people think that hackers just break things, most of them are taking things that are meant to do boring things and making them interesting.
Or breaking stuff to see what it does when it breaks. Sometimes breaking something teaches you how it works
@@grave0x or accidentaly breaking something attempting to make it interesting
Damn the production quality on this is actually so good bro. Keep em' coming and the algo will pick it up for sureee
Wtf this is wayyyyy too underrated hidden gem. Keep up the good production and editing.
The way this was setup, I was ready for a 40 minute deep dive, good shit dude!
I kinda wanted it to go for 40 mins 😢😂😂😂
Congrats! This is high quality production!
The rise of Internet Underground.
A minute or two into the video and i can already tell its a good one,i subbed immediately
cool channel
Thanks man! Your channel is dope. Been watching for a minute
you deserve much more attention my friend, you just earned lifetime subscription !
hidden gem. great video brother, keep it up.
RIP Mitnick.
Mate i just subbed. Dont usually comment on vids but this is seriously good fr👍
There are undoubtedly more hackers now than before, as there are now more resources that are easier to obtain, but even so, we are still a minority and a very niche culture.
Daaamn cool editing and video. Subbed :)
I remember back in the 80'th, how the inabitants of an whole street contacted the police, because they had all being awakened by phone calls in the middle of the night, and there had been "strange machine like noises on the phone." It proved to be teenager using a "wardialer" - like in "Wargames".
Man been waiting for part two! Awesome!
Superb choice in White Town for the outro dude. What a song.
3:30 crying
great channel! i was trying to research a bit on the history of netbus , the boring brother of BO from cotdc , i used to play with it back in the late 90s and i was wondering if there is a story there
man love your videos
been waiting this part for too long wait it's part one again
yeah, initially was going to cover the 80s and 90s in this part but was taking way too long and just wanted to put something out there. hope you still enjoyed!
Just so you know... Most of us who were around during the golden age of punk rock pronounce it "zeens" (because it's short for "magazines"; home-grown alternative-to-mainstream publications made possible by the advent of inexpensive photocopying (RIP Kinkos, you are missed)). "E-zines" by extension is an electronic 'zine. And the reason the Cap'n Crunch 2600 Hz whistle mattered is because that was a control tone for payphones [edit -- actually, not to control payphones; to make free long-distance calls -- see comment from @Leo-sd3jt below]; so an adept phreaker could use the whistle to make free phonecalls back when long-distance calling was pretty expensive.
A fun trip down memory lane; thank you 🙂
Came here looking to make the same points, who knows what other subtleties as these can be lost as we move forward
@@algernopkrieger7710 Fragments of tribal knowledge, context missing, for future cultural archeologists to puzzle over 🙂
I think somewhere on UA-cam is an example of John Draper demonstrating how to use the Cap'n Crunch whistle. Pretty sure I saw that, some dozen-odd years ago. (edit - I just read Draper's wikipedia entry. Did not know some of that stuff. Feet of clay, ffs.)
The 2600hz tone wasn't used to control payphones. 1700 Hz and 2200 Hz were the tones used. Played together into the mouthpiece of a Bell company payphone, it would trick AT&T's ACTS system into thinking that coins have been deposited. 2600hz, on the other hand, was the tone played over long distance phone lines to let the phone system know that the line was not being used. Calling a free long distance number, like an 800 number, and then bursting 2600hz down the line made the phone switch (called a tandem switch) connecting the long distance phonecall between the 2 local phone switches (one for each side of the conversation. Each located at a "Central Office" or CO) think that the person on the other end of the call has hung up and will disconnect you from the call but leave you on a long distance phoneline (called a "trunk") that was awaiting for tones (called MF tones due to them being multi-frequency) to know where to route the next call. Phone phreaks would enter the right tones and navigate across the networks and even into other countries.
@@Leo-sd3jt Thanks for the info 🙂
(I didn't phreak, myself; but I knew some people, 50 years ago.)
Will be waiting
HACK THE PLANET!
Look when you hack for the good it's great but when you hack to cause harm on others that's illness so yes some people are going to be punished 😔
@user-ec3rm9wr1n You sound like a real goody two shoes. I bet you got the perfect little life. Thanks for coming on here and dispensing your wisdom. but, The things in this world were designed to break. This entire culture is toxic, And evil, Any chance you have to get ahead? You should take it.

What a great video!
underrated
Quality content right here
There's the new one!! :)
Niceeee!
This is darknet dairies
As a "hacker" I like this video 😉
Awesome! Great job
Eh, it's good but there's a lot of wonky or missing info. Like the reason for 2600hz (it's not named after the frequency produced by the Captain Crunch phone whistle. It's named after the most popular frequency produced by blue boxes which the whistle coincidentally produced as well). Also, 2600 didn't grow out of some guys on a BBS but came out of the remnants of TAP magazine which itself grew out of YIPL. The Youth International Party Line magazine which grew out of Abbie Hoffman's Yippie movement most famous for Steal This Book.
You should watch my last video!
thx this was sooooo good ...... please do a full list of worthy hacker movies and series ..... greetz from a guy who likes to test pens ;)
HACK THE PLANET!!
Anyone here wants to start a hacker group?
With a twist:
Ideology-hacking, instead of hard/software.
this goes hard bro
great video. good research. You probably could've talked about kevin mitnik a little more since he was the most wanted hacker on the planet. he disappeared for a while but they caught him and put him in solitary confinement because they thought he could release nuclear bombs by humming nuclear codes. he also wrote a book called the art of deception
He's the main topic of the next part haha! Most of the interesting things he got up to were in the 90s/00s
@InternetUnderground he's one of my hero's. kevin rose did a good interview with him. I don't know if you can find it.But there's one clip where midnick is Hosting g4Tv and he was given the Opportunity to interview somebody so he chose this Young hacker and several years later this guy looked like shit I think the Government got to that boy it's really sad. I forget his name. I could find more about this if you want. It's extremely interesting
@@basedcommodore that does sound interesting. Join our discord and share the deets if you come across them!
you should do a video about de hacker culture... nowdays
Guys, im going to be honest and straight to the point. I want to start, now that I'm young, to learn and explore cybersecurity, then monetize working independently. How (or where) can I start learning ?
Don’t. So many people like you get the same idea. Market is oversaturated with people that underestimated.
@@TheDarkBusinessman allright. Guess I'll have to study mechanical engineering
@@karlosm8466 good idea
Look into CompTIA certs. Specifically Security+. If you’re brand new and want to get a feel for things try out the google cybersecurity course, you can do it for free on a one month trial if you really grind it out.
Don’t be demotivated by oversaturation (which is true), if you want it bad enough you can stand out from the rest.
@@InternetUnderground Most people see money and cool movies then when they find out what it really is they become overwhelmed by the requirements. At this point it is becoming harder and harder to get past entry level.
You hack to learn, not learn to hack. Cheers Kevin!
Nice!
