Now when you say "auto" I think of the auto mobile called the car. I don't general associate it with heavy construction machinery. So why would a mechanic shop require you to watch something that was not associated with your line of work?
@@tonysolar284 Because no matter what repair business someone works in, they have to know the consequences of not following the service manual. Also, knowing how to use a heavy equipment lift is extremely important.
@@tonysolar284 The type of machinery wasnt the point in his case, the auto repair shop wanted people to understand how taking a little more time to think more of what your doing could save you from a life of agony, or how dangerous simple routine work can be if it is not done properly. For example the machine used to raise cars uses hydrolics to lift the car, but the mechanics have to lock/secure all corners. If the hydrolics gave out, and those corners don't have any sort of additional support, that car is gonna just fall right down onto of you (well whats left of you).
I hear that tune every time I have to do something I know isn't that safe but as an experienced operator I've always said" how will you know how to get your self out of a jam if you never get yourself into one" to a certain degree of course.
Bob Murray!?! He's an engine mechanic and a coal baron? Edit:Also, Holy fck. I worked with a guy named three finger joe (or rather that was the name he was referred to after disappearing.) He cut two fingers off in a brush saw accident, showed up for work for a few days, then decided to just leave, we have no idea what happened to him after.
looks like a cat safety video old school I work with this shit evey day thank god its safer now days I should show this to the quarry manger and have it at our safe meet

I laughed too hard
Yeah, there's a lot of additional scenarios for a man that would cause this song to pop up in his head.

I was in a few auto repair classes and everyone was required to watch this video.

@@tonysolar284 probably because the overall theme in no shortcuts and proper procedure is applicable no matter what you’re doing.
I've taken so many OSHA courses and updaters over the last 6 years, and this is the first time I've seen this video!
Greatest safety video ever made
The RiffTrax version is hilarious! But seriously, this is a good safety video.
shake hands with danger, take a chance that you won't fall, you'll save yourself a minute but you might damn well loose it all
Shake hands with danger, the friends I used to know, compared to them I'm lucky to be just three finger Joe.
Shake hands with danger, shove a ball bag in your face, shake hands with danger, shake it all around the place.
@@MajorT0m WHAT THE HELL
@@MajorT0m jeez what lol
Shake Hands with Danger, step right up and say "Hello". Grinding Wheels and Metal are what made... Three Finger Joe.
This is 1980 not 1970
I agree.
Yup. I just found the guy's page who wrote it. 1979/80.

Square nose Chevy in the opening scene is an indicator
Caterpillar didn't start producing hydraulic excavators until 1972, and high drive dozers by 1977

Rifftrax made this bearable but love the song!
In reality these guys would be cussing in every other word.
The title sounds like a Molly Hatchet album.
How was this not used as a short on MST3K
RiffTrax got hold of it.
He said it. He said the thing.

Safety first
This is not from 1970. I believe this is 1980. Look at the trucks. There are 1973 or later Chevy trucks in this video.
