From a gameplay standpoint I like how they designed buffed up trunks, he's slow and his ki blasts are inconsistent when it comes to accuracy as you stated in the video. Details like that are so lost in these modern dbz Games
yeah like cell said: you might be stronger. but not stronger. and im sure vegeta mentioned it as well. sure you gain damage. but the loss in speed is what ruins it. this is the same with ssj1 over ssj3. 3 takes way to much ki away. sure for 1 move its nice to get that big oomph. but after its wasting energy.
@@matheuscruz19 Is there even anyone who uses ssj2 in the main cast? Goku and Vegeta go ssj1 or jump straight to blue, Gohan uses Mystic/Ultimate, Trunks and Goten don't even HAVE ssj2 or ever use it as Gotenks. The latest one who used it, and not even part of the Z Fighters, was Caulifla, with Future Trunks otherwise. Pretty much the only representative of ssj2 is Gohan... in games and when he was squaring off against Cell. I don't think Super Hero had SSJ2 Gohan either, not sure though.
Two things. 1. The best way to use Super Trunks is to start as him and instantly revert to base. You'll start with 3 ki bars, which is an abnormally high amount that lets you use a super instantly. 2. Frieza Soldier may be terrible in a fight, but his ultimate shows why the Frieza Force's football team has been topping the intergalactic charts.
Yea, after seeing and remembering all the characters essentially no name/useless characters in this game, and then seeing the Spakring zero/Tenkaichi 4 trailers, it reminds me that this game was essentially filled to the brim with content (NO PAID DLC) because I feel that the devs just actually loved making stuff for this game. It feels like it was a passion project and the devs really put their heart and soul into it. Best DBZ game of all time for me.
Cause even back then you could just be good at the game and make way but now everything is so hyper competitive devs have to appease all the online cry babies
@@wikisaiyangmailbro.. it took them three entire games to build up to bt3. sequel spamming is the dlc before dlc, literally every anime game in the ps2 era at least went up to 2s or 3s, just adding random stuff. sparking zero instead has to be built from the ground up, on the ps5, with giant teams of people looking over the projects. i promise you, the devs love sparking zero as much as any other game in the series, its just that you cant cry about dlc when base is already so full of content and made with a completely new framework compared to bt3
@@cowabungaitis9319 yeah. its probably some translation thing with his game and since he sounds like he might be a bit spanish or something accent so thats probably the wherever hes from translation for his name.
@@insertjokeh3r3 Yeah Octavius is just a translation thing, i just find it weird people are saying the correct version is "eighter" like no eighter is just another translation name, his real name is Hacchan.
3:30 Spopovich may be bad but if you connect that rush move in the world tournament stage you win. Unlike everyone else's rush which goes down Spopovich finishes with it with a horizontal strike which is unrecoverable. The target always ended up flying into the building making it an instant win.
Remember, you can still negate knockback by using the "explosive wave" that sacrifices health. You can use this in any instance to save yourself from hitting the ground or any object/wall.
I loved the detail in this game. Trunk's form is exactly what it's supposed to be, faithful to the anime. I used that form when I want more raw damage as opposed to speed. Tenkaichi 3 let alone the trilogy put you in a position to learn every character and how they fight. Strengths/Weaknesses in every aspect. Appreciate the effort that was put into this game, because there is no other game like it anymore.
@Mighty Mallardz it really did. I even played with underrated casts such as the Ginyu Force. You can do any match up you want. Fathers v Sons, Saiyans v Frieza Force, original DB fights, all movie characters. It was absolute madness how much of the lore we had at our disposal. And Future Trunks and his transformations is one of those examples. This game was VERY faithful to the source material it comes from.
There is a 4th BT game in the works that Bandai announced a few months back. But who knows if it'll be anything remotely similar to its predecessors, let alone like DBZ: Kakarot. It's something we'll have to wait for more info on.
Bulky Trunks Is a great choice for first character: he actually starts with 3 ki charges, meanwhile its normal version stars only with 2. So a simple strategy is to pick up bulky trunks, and as soon as the battle starts you can de-transform and go to its normal state with one extra ki charge. Now you can perform the rush or the ki attack, or use more ki blasts in the first moments of the fight.
Honestly future trunks is far from bad. Sure he's slow, but you can turn that into an advantage. if you z counter with him the timing for the counterattack is super unorthodox. The upwards attack especially takes almost 2 seconds to come out which means teleport spammers will usually miss it, while the side smashes are much faster in comparison. He does have some fast attacks like heavy finish and the kiai blast so all in all he can throw a lot of opponents muscle memory off who aren't used to dealing with such varying attack timings, like uub frontflip kick attacks. And of course he has explosive get out of jail for free wave. rip nintendo wifi
Also he's one of the few characters to have 3 ki bars from the start by default. So you can choose him and turn back to basic Trunks from the get go and use Trunks's ki blast, or just surprise your opponent with Buffed Super Saiyan Trunks's ki blast from the beginning. Oh and It's not Future Trunks by the way.
I'd call transformed Pilaf worse than his base self. His beam attack fires two but only hits with one most of the time his Gatling gun while good takes 4 bars, his ult is nothing special. The thing that drags it down the most is that he's a giant character with no brick wall effect. People can just punch him like he's a regular character and with him being big and slow makes him an easy target.
1:38 As the de facto General Blue guy in a lot of US DBZ circles… yeah, he’s really weak in this game. I’m not sure how possible this is for an actual player, but a Red Potara AI can actually get out of his telekinesis into missile attack, while still technically paralyzed. It’s really a shame that so many early DB characters can’t fly or use energy blasts, because they really weren’t in any other fighting game. I realize of course they aren’t in high demand compared to the rest of the cast, but Blue and Tao could’ve been sick in FighterZ.
Heck, I loved Tao just because he is one of the coolest characters around. He flexed on one of the most powerful and dangerous men in the world by using nothing but his tongue to knock him unconscious and shrugging off his ability to paralyze targets psychically. When he wants to fight someone openly, he introduces himself by chucking the nearest tree or stone pillar at several hundred miles per hour and riding it too them. Even Roshi didn't believe Goku had fought and killed him because at the time, due to lack of training, Tao was strong enough to kill Roshi.
When I was growing up, I’d play this with my younger siblings. I won a lot so instead I would let them choose the characters I’d use as handicaps. It became a lot more fun learning how to use some jankier characters like frieza soldier and eighter.
Am I forgetting something? Because I feel like Hercule should be #1. Can’t fly, does very little damage, can’t fire actual ki blasts, no long range super attacks, and is the ONLY character in the game that can’t make enemies flinch when hitting them.
He's a lethal joke character and his meme worthy "crappiness" gives him lots of love. His moveset at least has a rushing move where either he deals 0, 5, or 5000 damage. Mr. Buu is one of the rare moves he has that actually helps him deal real damage and it's unblockable. It's a Present! Is also just fun to goof around as you force someone to spend 5 seconds unwrapping. You can stall with him, chase people with him, spend so much time being an annoyance, and dab on people/Red Potara AI. Unlike Instant Kamehameha Goku or Gogeta SSJ4, it's an earned win. Your opponent is only upset they got dabbed on by "the worst guy in this game".
For those of you a bit confused, it's clear this guy's first language is Spanish, and based on his phrase "Not up to the heels" I'd say he's Mexican, which might also explain him calling Chi-Chi by the name "Milk", it's her name in the Mexican dub of the show
Ahh, an excellent assumption pal. May I ask, how did you know Chichi was called Milk in the Mexican translation?? That's an odd thing to see on a person whose main language appears to be English :p. In any case, he's actually Colombian, but most of the dubbing in all Latin America comes from Mexico :p
@@RainmeRevan ah latin dub then, my bad, and to answer your question, while originally from the States, I've lived in Mexico many years now and am fluent in both languages lol, anyway, I've since been exposed tk fans here in Mexico and a lot of the latin dub, her name is Milk in Spanish (Weird I know) and I assumed Mexican (Wrong again I see lol) because of the phrase I mentioned, since we latinos (My mom is Mexican) have different words and accents and sayings even within different regions of countries, not to mention seperate countries altogether, I did not know the phrase "No le llega ni a los talones" existed outside of Mexico, but thank you for the correction man Edit: Chichi is a simple word for boob in Spanish, hence why she's not named Chi-Chi in Spanish
@@LostBoy1920 Oh, no I do not know if "No le llega ni a los talones" exists outside of Mexico, I mean, I would assume it does? Jaja, but I was just clarifying about why he calls her Milk, it's because, like I mentioned, most of the Latin American dub is made in Mexico :p hence why he, being Colombian, calls her like that as well :p I was mostly clarifying his nationality xd. And I do know about chi chi as well, because...
Yeah I noticed he called her Milk too. I lived in Mexico during the DB/Z/GT era so I grew up on that dub. Chichi is an actually cuss word of sorts over there, so they can't be saying that on Mexican TV, lol. It's pretty much the equivalent of naming a character Tits or Titties in an American cartoon.
@@MidTierMistake Roshi still has a Blast 2 super that chases the opponent and will heal after transforming. However, another negative is that he still cannot fly after transforming so fighting in the air is very risky.
I personally like playing Spopovich, the exaggerated movements in everything he does, and the fact he’s a character that most people forget, and I like his ultimate.
I'm not sure "Frieza Soldier was only made for story mode" is a good argument when he only ever appeared in what-if-mission. I personally think Pure Evil Buu wasn't done justice in this game. He has the exact same attacks as good Buu and he can't transform into Super Buu. It also bothers me that he only grows weirdly and can't talk. He talked normally in the anime, and in the Manga he was just silent. The only neat thing about this character is that he takes full damage from the Devilmite Beam, which makes sense as he's pure evil. Other than that, he wasn't done justice, and I think it's a shame since he's my favourite form of Buu.
@@TheBonkleFox I think it does huge damage to hirudegarn and omega shenron (equal the second highest his ult can do) but it might be slightly less than to evil buu. I'll have to check it out and compare some time. It's hard to tell though, because when you play against AI they have random Z items equipped (some charge ki really fast, some hit you way too many times with dragon rush like they have 18's kiss, etc.) and they have different defense levels (like hitting broly with the same move you hit hercule with, hercule takes a lot more damage because he has lower defense or something)
I think Nam is much better than he's given credit for in this video, plus in Tenkaichi 3 you just need to double-tap the fly button to fly, even if your character "can't" fly. It's a minor inconvenience compared to Tenkaichi 2. The real fun part is to use bad characters as a means of tilting your opponent. Sure they picked a 5-man team of Perfect Cell, SS4 Gogeta, SS3 Goku, Burter and Broly. But it doesn't matter. Not when your team is Androids 19 & 20, Nam, General Blue (with no shirt) and Chiaotzu. Literally grab spam with the 2 least popular androids to constantly drain your opponent's health and ki, use Nam & Chiaotzu's insane melee rush-down to shock them, swap into General Blue to use his "I'm the Worst" move as a taunt and then swap back into one of the other characters...it's a beautiful thing that destroys an opponent's psyche.
@@AnonymousRandomGuy006 In my opinion, top 5 characters have to be: 1. Omega Shenron 2. Kid Buu 3. Pikkon 4. SSJ2 Goku (end) or Super Vegito 5. Legendary Broly If you're talking about world tournament mode, that list changes quite a bit though, you have to consider characters like Burter (extremely fast and overwhelming), Meta Cooler (his grab throws downwards at a rude angle), Super Vegeta (his grab is a guaranteed ring out if he's outside the ring area at all), several other characters with good rush down and exploitable throws. There are also really good situational characters, e.g. Tien can kill someone with just one use of his ultimate (because you can spam it after activating it), but he loses health for it, he doesn't charge fast, he isn't as strong as SSJ or other characters (in terms of breaking armour, etc.). You can't really use his ultimate in the Cell Games unless you clutch really hard the next round. Another example is devilman. His ult is one of the hardest hitting in the game, hard to predict/dodge, is wider than it looks, etc. The only caveat is that it only hits that hard against "evil" characters, against "good guys" it does less than a regular super.
I've never heard Eighter/Android 8 called Octavio before...honestly that should have been his name in every dub. Also Super Trunks is one of the best characters from competitive play. A lot of pro players, start with him, then at the start of a match they power down to base form. This allows base form Trunks to start with 3 Ki bars (whereas 99% of characters start with 2), which allows Trunks to fire off Supers right away.
You forgot about Mr. Satan. The worst character that his attacks don't flinch all the characters. The only way to flinch them is full power. His super high speed rush attack is random if you are lucky or unlucky. His gift trap attack are useful but fighting against giant characters like great ape Mr. Satan is useless
Buff trunks is actually pretty good, the only thing is that the buffiness makes him really slow, but its something the game respects and that shows how detail they wanted to show making this game
I won a tournament scene using super trunks along. Shifting between super trunks and super saiyan was sick. Super trunks hit like a truck, perfect at z counter and side charge attack. and his normal ssj was fast af, really killing it after exhausting opponent's ki bar.
My brother and I loved that they included these type of characters. We would set up matches with characters who would canonically or realistically be able fight each other and just have fun. We would reenact iconic fights and a bunch of other silly things. One time, I selected Tien and he picked second form cell and we had a rule that he couldn’t use Ki attacks and I had to try to defeat him like that.
Cui will be always one of my favorites, simply because me and my best friend had one of the biggest uncontrollable laughs when we used his ultimate on Frieza and he is like "Look! Lord Frieza!" and Frieza himself turns around and is like "Huh?" xD
Me crucé con este video y dije "ese tipo de Miniatura me es muy familiar". No sabía que tenias un canal en inglés xD Sos un grande Pleitos. Saludos desde Argentina!
Z Items can allow you to turn any character into a beast. It's very fun to experiment with. I used them to turn Frieza Soldier into a Glass Cannon. My custom can Heavy Finish through block, stun very long and his Life Risking Blow will deal 2 bars by default, more with Indignation active plus a combo into it. On the flip side, his Supers are strong but his Defense is way lower than normal, charge sucks and he has abysmal melee attack damage. It's quite a challenge to win this way but the fight is guaranteed in his favor if in point-blank range while at MAX power.
What do you mean "normal"? You mean not a sayain? If so, try putting items on burter, pikkon or even krillin and you'll see how much they can dominate.
@@offradar31 Burter is one of my faves too, especially in world tournament mode. I recently beat sim dragon and got my PB with burter too :D Also, if you like Tien you should check this out haha: ua-cam.com/video/9dtIvuIfCEA/v-deo.html
It's a completely unsurprising top 10 when you understand the very basic fact that the game was balanced around how strong the characters are relative to one another in the canon of the story.
True but not at all. Like the characters from buu saga and GT are wayy stronger than previous arcs characters generally but there are some exceptions of characters that are extremely good. Start and mid goku are pretty good, kid gohan is amazing, scouter vegeta pretty good, tien its good, burter is extremely good. Like there are a lot of characters that are strong and not enough strong in the anime
@@santi3256 I didn't say there aren't any exceptions, I'm just saying that's generally how the balance seemed to work in those games. Early/Mid Goku, Kid Gohan and Scouter Vegeta are characters who get used a lot in the story mode, so it'd make sense for them to be designed stronger than a lot of the characters they fight because they want any kid to be able to beat the story mode of the game. I didn't say there can't be any interesting exceptions like Burter.
@@DioBrandoWRYYYYYY Naa yeah of course i know what u mean. But i clarified it because of course not the entire roster strenght is based on canon power level, but as u say definitely the stronger the character, the better it is generally. Shenron, the ssj4's, the ssj3's, Broly, Super A17 all really strong characters in the game.
This is just my opinion, but I remember Nam actually being pretty decent. I figured we'd see Jeice or something here. Not sure being unable to fly is really that big of a deal in this game. In Arale's case, she was short enough that gravity would actually let her slide out of other peoples' combos.
The original DB characters like Kid Chi Chi, Nam, etc are one of the reasons why Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is my favorite DBZ game, A large variety of characters other than ones you always see in your typical DBZ game like Saiyan, Androids, etc., BTW Sparking Zero is one of my most anticipated games of 2024.
for being colombian (considering latam english level is kinda low) your english is pretty fluent, buen trabajo crack(solo caché que era latino porque el gameplay estaba en español y luego revisé la info del canal jaja)
Super Trunks is actually a very good starting character because he starts with three Ki bars Everyone goes back into his base form and can already use some Specials
Great vid. While I agree with most entries on this list, Nam is actually quite slept on. I can't tell you how many times I've been able to gimp combos out of not being able to fly. Couple that in with afterimage for just 1 bar and he's actually not half bad. I mostly play him on DP mode, since he's a fantastic character for only 2 points.
He is certainly playable in some regard. Though, if it were me, I'd go for Videl over Nam if I needed a 2 point character. While she can't use Ki in te same vein as much of the roster, she frankly doesn't need to. I am also admittedly biased against characters that lack flight. At some point, you will need to press the button to fix your character's position in the air. This puts you in a very vulnerable position with only two options: high speed dodge a sudden incoming attack, or get hit. I personally like to stick with characters that can fly just so I don't get caught in this type of situation.
In the competitive BT3 community Super Trunks is usually considered pretty middle of the pack. His high damage, his rolling hammer and his explosive wave (not his ultimate) make up for his slowness. Appule at an average of C-tier is also generally considered above other original dragon ball characters, Hercule, videl, zangya etc. or almost any of the giant characters bar the likes of great ape baby Vegeta.
Isn't the super Trunks strategy to revert back to normal for extra ki bars he kit is very clunky. And Hercules have a few cheesy strategies atleast he doesn't deserved top 10 for worst characters
@@lucasalarcon3230 yes super trunks is used this way but when he is played as a character without detransforming he is considered middle of the pack. Hercule has cheesy strategies but they don't make up for everything that makes him bad so he is still often ranked in the lowest tier
With Trunks i only use his buffed ssj when im fighting characters with super armor others while attacking dont stagger enemies his buffed version and vegetas version of buffed ssj are able to stagger them. Same goes with other buffed characters like Roshi.
It's a very good list overall, but I have a few things to mention: Chi-Chi is a character meant to be played defensively, not offensively. Super Trunks/Android 8 are both characters you should be spamming smash attacks with at every opportunity. They are high risk, high reward characters at their core. If customs become a part of the conversation, all you'd need to do is give them armor+ more ki reduction on guard breaks. The rest of them are almost irredeemable tbh.
Cui is actually good if you give him either a Ki or Super Buff, Combo master, and Majin Buu Type. He's one of my main characters and I do work with him. I also main Appule lol
4:02 actually alot of duellers would prefer to pick Super Trunks due to him being at such a Ki level. You see when you start you have 3 bars of Ki and when you return to normal you keep those bars and every super move needs 3 Ki bars, can see where i am going with this?
@@mostachus7237 No he doesn't. He can't charge fast enough or move fast enough. Also, there are NO infinite combos in the game because you can hold shield and double tap "fly up" to push everyone off you (you lose a bit of health doing it). Please don't talk rubbish.
Matchups also make a big deal in this game. Despite what you might expect, Videl and Hercule can be surprisingly effective. But they are completely useless against even the weakest giant character as their punches don't flinch them at all and none of their blast moves work at all.
1. Mr. Satan (should be self explanatory) 2. Almost every other character who cannot fly (should be self explanatory, and it excludes Kid Goku, Master Roshi, and Yajirobe) 3. Guldo (why are you so slow?) 4. Chiaotzu (why is your movement so weird?) 5. Videl (very, very weak imho) 7. Great Saiyawoman (somehow even worse than base Videl lol) 8. Great Saiyaman ("Oh no, what did they do to you, Gohan?") 9. Super Trunks (I know that in lore he pretty much sacrificed all of his speed for extreme power, but in game you don't have that power, so it's just painfully slow Trunks) 10. Every one of those og DB and random DBGT characters, as well as those generic Saiyans and generic members of Freeza Force (I use them pretty much never, so I cannot "hate" them any more lol)
Idk about you, but I used to kick people's ass with Nam and Octavio (Eighter in the US). Then again if you're skilled enough you can make any character work. But seriously, just because a character doesn't use ki doesn't automatically make them bad in this game
It's very interesting to watch this video and see parallels and differences between the PvP meta, and the EvE meta of this game. I participate in a League ran on this game that uses the Com vs Com battles, with some quality of life modding(everyone has 4 bars for instance) and an improved combat AI that while smarter still can be pretty dumb sometimes. The league is mostly for fun and for spectating tho some of us take it pretty seriously and it is funny to see parallels and differences. For instance 7 of this top 10(Blue, Guldo, Appule, Spopovich, Chi Chi, Pilaf, and Frieza Soldier sit in the bottom 10-20 in our league too. Due to the nature of AI vs AI they con overachieve, Pilaf has actually been pretty good in recent years, and Frieza Soldier is so bad we removed him and added a new character, and we are getting ready to do the same to General Blue. However for the other 3, Super Trunks ends up being high risk high reward. HIs ult, while terrible in PvP, is probably the best one in EvE bc it never misses, and hi Super damage is really high, and same with his combos. But his combos are easily countered by a proficient enough Melee Fighter. Android 8 ends up being pretty solid, just by virtue of being an Androids alone, he also has those 2 buffs that grant him reduced hitstun, which the ai just doesn't counterplay, so they are really good. And Nam back like several years ago, was probably top 3 for close ranged combatants in the game, mainly due to his ki blast being replaced with an at will heavy finish the other ais just do not deal well with that. Nowadays he's fallen off a lot but most would still agree he's pretty okay.
Dude, i've been playing with Nam lately, and he is DOPE!!! He have a afterimage that costs only 1 stock and a great MAX POWER punching sequence. you can finish your opponent without letting he breath
Spopovich's attacks only will fail to hit characters if they are on the ground and he is in the air (such as in your example here), and even then, it's only an issue when he's fighting small characters. But if both fighters are in the air, there are no issues with his moves connecting, regardless of if his opponent is tiny or not. That being said, Spop is still one of the lesser characters in the game, though he can still be annoying to fight if you spam his rush specials. I would also disagree with Cui or Dodoria being considered 'bottom tier'. Cui is surprisingly well-rounded and quick for such a minor character, and he also can shoot up to ten quick ki blasts in a row, much like most forms of Vegeta. Cui doesn't really have any glaring flaws. While his stats are nothing to be excited about, that's not unexpected for a 'DP Level 3' character, and I'd say he's definitely better than say, Raditz (another 'Level 3' character who's actually pretty bad). Dodoria is expectedly slow, but he's not so slow that his opponent will be easily escaping his attacks mid-combo (like Guldo, Super Garlic Jr, or Frieza Soldier). He notably has access to the 'Rolling Hammer' attack, which is one of the best physical attacks in the game for setting up combos, as it is a chargeable attack that even if blocked, can cause ki damage and break guards, and if it actually hits, it spins the opponent around so you can continue wailing on the opponent's backside. Dodoria also has access to a Blast Stock move that grants him the 'Brick-Wall' effect for a short period, making him unable to be stunned, ala the 'giant' characters and LSSJ Broly (of course, this benefit is negated if his opponent is something like the admittedly popular broken characters like SSJ2 Teen Gohan or SSJ4 Gogeta, who are able to hit right through Brick-Wall characters with no effort). His stats are fairly respectable for a Level 4 character, having naturally higher defense than most characters in the game (most of which defense stat is usually zero by default) and his attack stat is also decent. However, his ki charge speed is pretty bad, and his supers both have a high cost, making them useful only in extreme situations or as a finisher. But if I were to *add* a character to your list, I'd add Garlic Jr. While his base form is pretty unspectacular, with low defense and only 3 health bars (4 is the standard for 90% of the roster), it's his transformed form that is actually much worse, for totally different reasons. While 'Super Garlic Jr' has high defense (like Dodoria and a few others), he's super slow - slower than Dodoria, slower than Spopovich, slower than Recoome, and yes, even slower than Guldo. While he does have access to the Rolling Hammer technique, it doesn't matter because it will never hit anyone. If both fighters are on the ground, this attack (and several of his other attacks as well) will simply fly over their head, or will cause Garlic to lunge in another direction due to poor tracking and his large frame. And even if this wasn't the case (such as when both fighters are in the air), the attacks come out sooooo slow (even when non-charged) that the opponent can easily dodge the attack by simply floating to the side (no side-jump or teleport counter even necesarry). So in general, Garlic Jr cannot combo for shlt. His super attacks are just as poor however. First off, his ki charge speed is atrocious, so keep that in mind. Anyway, his first super is a basic blast of energy that does middling damage for its 3-bar cost. His second super is a command grab that only connects if the opponent is directly in his face, and it costs a whopping 4 ki bars. The damage is 'okay', but unlike say, LSSJ Broly's command grab, Garlic's does not knock the opponent into the air and far away from him, it instead slams the opponent to the ground right in front of him. The problem with this is that the opponent will now be able to get right up and beat the crap out of Garlic, who now is guaranteed to have practically zero ki. Now, Garlic does have access to his 'Makyo Star' Blast Stock move, which briefly buffs all of his stats, gives him a Brick-Wall effect, gives him an extra 2.5 bars of ki, and recovers about half a health bar. Sounds pretty good, right? Thing is, the buffs literally lasts for no more than six seconds, and they aren't nearly major enough to make a big difference (I mean, it's not like he's going to be hitting anyone anyway). And this move also costs like 3 Blast stocks to use, and since Garlic only has a maximum of 5 stocks, this technique can't be 'spammed' in any reliable way - not even with customization buffs (trust me, I tried it, he still sucks). Oh, and after he uses this move and it runs out, he is penalized with *even slower* ki charging, which only goes away if you can charge up to max ki (which will now take you about 2 hours going from zero to max ki). Anyway, that's all I can think of for now. There are some other characters who, while not 'bad' in a mechanical sense, still have wasted potential in terms of gameplay possibilities, such as Captain Ginyu, King Cold, and Final Form Janemba, but I guess that's a different topic. Sorry if I sounded like I was criticizing you. As you can tell, I love this game. I've loved it since it came out over 25 years ago and I still consider it the best DB fighting game by a country mile. It's always good to see that there are still people talking about it. Here's to hoping we get a **true** successor to Tenkaichi 3, and not the watered-down, stripped of content Raging Blast games, nor the 'fake Tenkaichi' Xenoverse games (though I wouldn't mind seeing some of the mechanics and more open stages of the latter to make their way into a potential 'Tenkaichi 4'). And I really... really hope they don't try to cut the roster down again - but we know they will.
a lot of these characters are actually insane when controlled by the AI via Red Potara password on max difficulty. For example, Eighter and Spopo are actually pretty terrifying. I mean, they have REALLY aggressive AI.
Most of these characters are early original DB characters or henchmen from Z. It makes perfect sense they'd be the weakest since they actually are weak in the show/manga, making it very lore accurate. This game seriously had the best roster out of any DB game. Really glad there's actually quite a bit of original DB characters since it is the beginning of the franchise and it's actually canon unlike GT. So weird that there's always GT characters in every game, even now that Super's out and no DB characters. DB really doesn't get the appreciation and acknowledgement that is deserves which is dumb since it's actually canon and shows how Goku grew up and met most of his friends.
How is Hercule not in this list? I mean, his attacks don't even make his opponent flinch animation-wise unless he's fighting against himself. When using him in a fight you'll end up spamming his Present Bomb attack a lot which doesn't deal much damage anyway.
Seriously? Hercule didn't get mentioned at all? He has pitiful damage. No long range attacks. He can't fly and worst of all none of his basic combo attacks can make the opponent flinch, making him very easy to counter. Don't go easy on him because he's a joke character.

Two things.
1. The best way to use Super Trunks is to start as him and instantly revert to base. You'll start with 3 ki bars, which is an abnormally high amount that lets you use a super instantly.

Yeah I remember abusing this against my brother lmao, never understood why they didn’t give him a massive strength stat increase to compensate tho lol
yeah but that means you're not playing SS2 Trunks, you're playing base Trunks with more starting ki
@@QuantemDeconstructor Base trunks is in a higher tier than SSJ trunks, due to having a longer and safer combo, unique explosive wave and better speed
@@Mike-mo1gq true but I'm p sure you can only downform into base

Mr satan has a inf combo with the present bro, if he catches you then you are dead, id say he gets the S tier

Also, Devilman's ultimate attack hits Evil Buu harder than anyone else in the game (it 1 shots him from full hp if you have super up z items lol)
@@jazzabighits4473 iirc it also hits Hirudegarn and Omega Shenron just as hard.
Nam is actually REALLY good
You chose a 5 man team that isn't even the strongest though. SS4 Gogeta isn't even a top 5 or top 10 character lol, neither is SS3 Goku.
@@jazzabighits4473
I haven’t played the game in a long time. Who is in the top 5?
@@AnonymousRandomGuy006 In my opinion, top 5 characters have to be:
1. Omega Shenron
2. Kid Buu
3. Pikkon
4. SSJ2 Goku (end) or Super Vegito
5. Legendary Broly
If you're talking about world tournament mode, that list changes quite a bit though, you have to consider characters like Burter (extremely fast and overwhelming), Meta Cooler (his grab throws downwards at a rude angle), Super Vegeta (his grab is a guaranteed ring out if he's outside the ring area at all), several other characters with good rush down and exploitable throws.
The only caveat is that it only hits that hard against "evil" characters, against "good guys" it does less than a regular super.
... or just use Frieza Soldier. Y'know, like a real fighter would. I... put far too many hours into the game.
Cui is actually solid. He has all the good combo extensions and his snap vanish rushes are easy to pull off. "My era has begun!" (If cui beats freeza)
I like that Cui has a special quote with literally every form of Vegeta. Trying to beat SSJ4 Vegeta as Cui is really difficult!

People try to say that all the characters play the same in this game, guess they never put Guldo up against Super Trunks.
they mean all the saiyans play the same, cuz those are the only ones they tried
At first I thought it was weird the text on your footage was in Spanish.
Then I heard you call chi chi Milk, then I knew you were a fellow Latino
I just appreciate that they have call backs of all these characters
I've never heard Eighter/Android 8 called Octavio before...honestly that should have been his name in every dub.
Also Super Trunks is one of the best characters from competitive play. A lot of pro players, start with him, then at the start of a match they power down to base form. This allows base form Trunks to start with 3 Ki bars (whereas 99% of characters start with 2), which allows Trunks to fire off Supers right away.
Lol Octavio is basically eighter in Spanish
It's crazy to see how this game was designed back then it was clearly ahead of its time
Cui will be always one of my favorites, simply because me and my best friend had one of the biggest uncontrollable laughs when we used his ultimate on Frieza and he is like "Look! Lord Frieza!" and Frieza himself turns around and is like "Huh?" xD

For super trunks most people use him in pvp because his 3 ki bar start and just de transform his combos are better and faster
Super Vegeta is better IMHO
Nam is one of the best normal characters especially when you put z items on him.
He’s top tier in DBZ league
What do you mean "normal"? You mean not a sayain? If so, try putting items on burter, pikkon or even krillin and you'll see how much they can dominate.

Having Spovovich fighting Videl is vile.
It's a very good list overall, but I have a few things to mention:
Chi-Chi is a character meant to be played defensively, not offensively.

Matchups also make a big deal in this game. Despite what you might expect, Videl and Hercule can be surprisingly effective. But they are completely useless against even the weakest giant character as their punches don't flinch them at all and none of their blast moves work at all.
I give all non-flying characters the power up FLIGHT to be matched with the others. Not to be able to fly is such big disadvantage otherwise.

9. Super Trunks (I know that in lore he pretty much sacrificed all of his speed for extreme power, but in game you don't have that power, so it's just painfully slow Trunks)
10. Every one of those og DB and random DBGT characters, as well as those generic Saiyans and generic members of Freeza Force (I use them pretty much never, so I cannot "hate" them any more lol)
Having a Beam Struggle between Appule and Ssj4 Gogeta always cracked me up. Its literally a Leaky Fauchet vs a Tsunami.
@@NeroKnight666 tnx. I Mixed up the doubles on the t and l.
Great list. I just KNEW Frieza soldier would make number one.
But you sleepin on Cui.
Your voice reminds me of the youtube Random Madness
Great content
I really like your video too 🤘
Thank you for the videos my brother :D
Who's here after Budokai Tenkaichi 4 was announced?
Idk about you, but I used to kick people's ass with Nam and Octavio (Eighter in the US). Then again if you're skilled enough you can make any character work. But seriously, just because a character doesn't use ki doesn't automatically make them bad in this game
Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and 3 were intentionally unbalanced games, and that made their mechanics so fun
Nowadays he's fallen off a lot but most would still agree he's pretty okay.
ah i see you are also a dbz league watcher. (Nam was such a monster back in the day.)
Question
¿What does EvE means?
Are there any videos of this? I'd love to see

Good video, but I wonder what's the name of the song?

i love when he played calm music then immediately started roasting Frieza soldier
Nam can activate afterimage with just one power bar which puts him in the top characters
And his heavy hit ki blast actually work really good
Dude, i've been playing with Nam lately, and he is DOPE!!! He have a afterimage that costs only 1 stock and a great MAX POWER punching sequence. you can finish your opponent without letting he breath
i'm surprised hercule isn't on this list. I kinda like the idea that he's better then trunks lol.
I always hated the giants especially hirudigam.
Shit was so broken and hard to fight
Estaba a punto de decirte cosas feas por robarle el vídeo y la miniatura a Ismapleitos hasta que me di cuenta que eres tú xdxdxdxdddd
a lot of these characters are actually insane when controlled by the AI via Red Potara password on max difficulty. For example, Eighter and Spopo are actually pretty terrifying. I mean, they have REALLY aggressive AI.
I hated playing as big characters like great apes
It was supposed to be without order but bro said Frieza Soldier was the worst and he was #1 😭
I love how Super Trunks weaknesses is faithful to the anime/manga. Nice attention to detail there.
Yo te sigo en tu canal en español y es muy bueno!
Mis mejores deseos para este canal en inglés 👍🏻
Por qué UA-cam me recomienda un video de Isma Pleitos en inglés XD
What is the name of the music tracks you used in the background of this video? I like them.
How is Hercule not in this list? I mean, his attacks don't even make his opponent flinch animation-wise unless he's fighting against himself. When using him in a fight you'll end up spamming his Present Bomb attack a lot which doesn't deal much damage anyway.
Mr Satan has a easy infinite combo, that alone makes him good
Exactly
Seriously? Hercule didn't get mentioned at all? He has pitiful damage. No long range attacks. He can't fly and worst of all none of his basic combo attacks can make the opponent flinch, making him very easy to counter. Don't go easy on him because he's a joke character.
I remember super Trunks being so slow
