I'm back, sorry for the wait!😁 Any particular games you want to see in the next one? A quick little update: I am planning on making these videos a weekly thing during the month of May. Also, would you guys be down for a "Secrets in Naruto Games" type video? I was thinking on making one, featuring the classic Ultimate Ninja PS2 games, Broken Bond/Rise of a Ninja, as well as some of the Storm games. I played those games almost as much as the DBZ games, and would love to cover some of the secrets and Easter eggs from those games. Let me know if that sounds like something you would watch!🤔
I think the reason for Tien's Tri-beam doing less damage if you succeed the input is because he stops just before the draw backs kick in. If you fail the input he throws caution to the wind out of desperation to beat the opponent, thus overexerting himself.
Regarding Tien doing more damage with the failed ultimate, I imagine it's because the "life-risking" part of the attack involves strict ki control. If you mess up the balance, you overload with ki and blast it at the opponent but hurt yourself in the process. It adds a strategic choice with the attack, which is cool.
I'd like to mention, since we are speaking about Tien. I believe in one of the previous episodes it was mentioned that On Budokai Tenkaichi 3, you lose HP when you use his ultimate attack but one thing that I think wasn't mentioned is that you can actually spam it, and you'll be forced to stop spammig it when you reach 1HP, at which point you fall to the ground. That is, of course, a reference to when he used against Cell.
Tien's Tri-Beam dealing more damage and hurting himself on a fail makes sense because the Tri-Beam doesn't just draw from the user's ki. It draws from their life force. Presumably, Tien is trying to hold back a bit in order to not hurt his own life force, but failing to do so draws out too much power, dealing more damage but hurting himself.
Yeah. The cynic in me is not excited for the new remake or sequel coming to tenachachi series. We live in a micro transaction economy and developers are more selfish and lack passion than ever before.
For Tien, the difference between the failure and the success is in the lore of the attack. Great video! As a lot of people pointed out, the devs really must have had a lot of passion making these older games adding in all these details. One thing I noticed in Tenkaichi 3 is that when you play as Pure Evil Buu, and you charge at your opponent, he flies upside down. I think it could be a reference to him flying towards the guy who shot the dog in the show Also, the Androids and Meta Cooler cannot charge ki until they have 5 yellow ki bars and are not affected by Cell, Dr Gero, or Android 19’s energy absorption attacks
Tien's Tri-Beam isn't the only example of a radical change whether or not offense or defense wins! IIRC one of the budokai games has Majin Vegeta as an install, and when activated you can use Final Explosion if offense wins, you win immediately, but if defense wins, you *lose* immediately
I don't remember it being an instant win, just 2-3 health bars. If you succeed you have 1hp. It was kind of fun opening with it and beating my brother with 1hp
If I remember correctly, the fusion timer in Budokai 2 also goes down faster if you transform The difference is that in 2, the fusion only ends when you are knocked down with a depleted timer
In tenkaichi 3, there's a mechanic some people might not know about. If you use 2 custom characters who can fuse. All the equipped skills like +9s combine for the fused character. For example white health bar is the max (I think) but 2 custom fused characters will double the health bar. For this to work you have to pick the 2 characters like custom goku and custom vegeta. Get the number to the right level, then fuse.
As a kid, budokai Tenkaichi 3 was "my game" the one where I always beat all my friends, and solar flare was a big reason why, this game has some Op support abilities that tend to be ignored, and they are totally worth using
These older Dragon Ball games are timeless it feels like no matter how much you play them there is always something new to discover. I'm really happy I got to grow up with these games because the newer games can't seem to capture the magic these ones did that being said however I'm hopeful that tenkaichi 4 can bring it back.
On announcement, I immediately expected the worst, but as long as they throw balance out the window again for the sake of a huge cast and manage to resist the urge to backload it with DLC packs, it should turn out fine. Here's hoping. That being said, I'm almost certain that one of my mains (Zangya) isn't going to make the cut.
Getting Solar Flare'd while doing Final Explosion is hilarious but also kind of broken. lmao. The moment that SF happens, the Solar Flare user could just ki blast or B2 for an insta-kill. 😂 And just in case KaDazee doesn't know or finds out about it later, Tenkaichi 2 has unique beam clashes; one of the most unique being Special Beam Cannon can clash w/ another Special Beam Cannon, and Finger Beam can clash w/ other Finger Beams as well as Death Beam. This is something that they removed in Tenkaichi 3, as far as I recall.
Almost. Finger beams can clash with other finger beams. Freeza's death beams clash with special beam cannon or other death beams, but they're usually "negated" when a normal beam hits it. The only exception for this rule is full power death beam which works as a really small normal beam and can be clashed with other beams, like a kamehameha.
@@Adaruvideos Frieza's Death Beam can clash w/ SBC? Next time I get on BT2 I have to try that. All of these unique beam clashes are what needs to return in the new game.
2:36 My theory would be that his attack is so dangerous that if he still wants to use it he has to not use in full power or else he will also get damages, so if you lose the QTE he will not control it making him eventually more damages on the opponents, but also on him
As a kid I played more Budokai 2 than any other Dragon Ball game back then and Goten and Trunks were actually favorites of mine so I always made up scenarios where they would team up without fusing against a character. The voice lines of their switching are burned into my brain forever.
@@Spookiester Not really a retcon as it was just giving an explanation for a plothole that DBZ had already created. What DBS did was give a legitimate and fully reasonable reason for why Vegito had defused earlier.
I don't know if you've covered it before, but I believe it's in both Budokai 2 and 3. If you select kid Trunks normally and do his double buster, he will say "Double Buster!" However, if you equip him with Fusion Gotenks, and then use Double Buster, he will instead make the same sound Gotenks makes when he does his shout blast. Not sure what it's called (Victory Cannon or something?), but it's also the back+O move, same as Double Buster is the back+O move.
I always really liked that team switch thing in b2. I remember thinking pairing Yamcha and Tien as a "single" character was a cool way to make such weak characters interesting, unique and relevant in the face of super Saiyans and androids etc.
There's also a detail in Tenkaichi 3 where if a character is more powerful and unleashes a devastating attack at the end of a battle, The opponent will disappear, as if they've been completely eradicated.

I was surprised by the switching mechanic in Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2. I’ve played that game for years and it never crossed my mind to actually use the transformation feature when I had the fusion capsule equipped to either the boys or Yamcha and Tien. Thanks for revealing that secret🙂👍
Love this series! Glad you're planning do this weekly and I would love to see you do this with lots of anime fighting games, personally I would be interested in watching videos on Naruto games and Jump force. Looking forward to your next vid! :)
Another easter egg that in the raging blast and the tenkaichi series Gotenks fights exactly like Bruce lee (Mostly ssj Gotenks and look 7:25 he’s even got same stance and everything) 😅
2:30 Cuz the opponent didn't stay down. I guess the idea is that winning meant Tien got so much control over the fight he could safely stop. Where as in defeat, he pushed too hard and is left defenseless. Having that said, in Budokai 3, if defense wins, the defending player cannot be KO'd right?
Weekly uploads sounds a whole lot better than, every other month, and the Naruto games don't sound bad either. As long as you don't suffer burnout and fatigue, go for it.
Well, it'll be a little experiment on my part. I'll only do these weekly during May. After that...we'll see if it's something that's sustainable for me.
For the Buff Cell one; Cell was dogging on Trunks because of the SPEED, he chose to use it out of desperation because his opponent wasn't showing a speed advantage.
Yeah no, that's just false. Yes, the form is bad because of speed, and that is because the form slows you down immensely. Even if your opponent did not have any particular speed advantage over you, if you use the power weighted form, they will most certainly have a massive speed advantage over you because of how slow you'll become. Not only that but Gohan clearly showed a speed advantage over Cell. He snatched the senzu beans out of his hand so fast he didn't even see what was going on. And during the battle, Gohan effortless hammered and dodged Cell. Going power-weighted definitely made sure Cell would not even have a sliver of Gohan's speed. Trunks even points out that Cell made the same mistake he ragged Trunks for, i.e sacrificing all his speed for power.
@@albertrichard3659 he probably figured that since ssj2 gohan was already faster than him, he could sacrifice speed for power, and thus be able to tank hits better
2:40 Maybe a fail means that TIen puts too much energy into the attack, more than he meant to. Making it so that while the attack does more damage, Tien used his life force to power it, leaving him exhausted and open to a counter.
I enjoyed the video! it was interesting to learn more hidden details. I never thought solar flare was useful because of how it was limited and how you got up and close to the person for it to work. When playing budokai tenkaichi 3, I did have some special interactions with ultimate Gohan vs pan and ultimate gohan vs spocovich.
Budokai 2 was my first DB game so it's very nice having it brought up here and that someone remembering the Fusion switch. It may nostalgic bias speaking but it definitely gets too overshadowed. Also YES, I'd love to hear you covering Naruto games as well!
Will do! I made one video couple of months ago, featuring some of the PS3/XBOX360 era DBZ games. Didn't feature Ultimate Tenkaichi, tho. I'll focus more on those games in one of the upcoming videos.
I love how for Arale's losing pose she doesn't even look like she lost, she just decided to stop fighting. I hope in Tenkaichi 4 if Whis is playable he gets a similar thing where he basically acts like he's defeated, but we know he isn't, he just decided to stop. Also the JoJo character you didn't know looked like Bruno Bucciarati. The weird thing is, he seems to be wearing Giorno's clothes, despite the fact the hair isn't Giorno's.
Here's a little Easter egg in intro DBZ ultimate battle 22 there's scene where trunks is using sword that scene would later be used for the cover of Tenkaichi 2
I'm glad to hear you'll be doing more videos! I already knew some of these things (not all though lol) but that's because I played these game to death haha! But it's always cozy to sit down and hear a nice video explaining these little details. That and it shows newer dragon ball fans how fun the ps2 era of DBZ games were. I love a lot of DBZ games but these ones were really special imo. And it would be really cool to see the Naruto games of this era get the same coverage!
The Budokai Tenkaichi series was my favorite. Open 3d arena, extremely fast paced combat and animations, and arena destruction up to even destroying the world.
The tribeam hurts a lot because he applies his genki energy as opposed to normal ki. It's how he's able to hurt cell regardless of powerlevel, and why it drains his hp more.
I remember using the tag mechanic in Budokai 2 to dodge stuff from time to time. I am amazed that people didn't know about it, I thought it was common knowledge.
I dont know if u guys already notice but In dbz bt 3 if u use goten and use his kamehameha skill, he will shout kamekameha instead of kamehameha and its written in his skill list as kamekameha
The reason the kikoho does more damage when failing is because tenshinhan lost control of the energy expenditure he himself more than once says that the technique takes part of the life force to boost the ki
Not sure how many people noticed this, but in Budokai 2, fusion dance characters have infinite ki. You can just spam O right or O left. They also don't defuse when the timer hits zero. only when they get hit after it reaches zero.
very good and informative video. i have watched all parts of this video series so far and i love it. I think I speak for others here as well when I say I'm very hyped for the ultimate ninja games, they were a part of my childhood too, it would be amazing if you could make videos about them as well. Thanks very much.😊
The only one I knew about was the Goten/Trunks swap in Budokai 2. I used to mess with my friend because if you hit swap right as they're charging towards you (assuming their ultimate is melee based) they'll wiff due to the delay in swapping. Had no clue Yamcha and Tien had a fusion thou
The Tien thing isn’t a mistake. KiKoHo (translated as Tri-beam) does just mean something similar to “Ki Cannon” and in tenkaichi 1 that’s more so how it looked in dragon ball but later games changed it to how it looked against cell.
In BT3 there is a glitch with Solare Flare When your opponent wants to grap you and you use solare Flare at the last few frames, you wont take any damage and your opponent can move around without any issues (no closeup etc) But you still have the hit animations of the entire grap
Weekly videos until Budokai 4 holy shit you're the best 😱 In all seriousness, these have been fun nostalgic reminders of these games, glad I found this channel and can't wait to see BT4 videos in 2035 😈

You know who else only lasts 10 seconds?

The secrets in naruto games would be a sick idea. Would be cool if you included rise of a ninja and broken bonds. Underrated games
Another easter egg that in the raging blast and the tenkaichi series Gotenks fights exactly like Bruce lee (Mostly ssj Gotenks and look 7:25 he’s even got same stance and everything) 😅
0:53 oh what bro thats so 🔥
2:30 Cuz the opponent didn't stay down.
@@kadazee Good, experimentation is great for a channel.
@@boogaloobender3462 lol well cell joined the “ fuck around and find out” club.
4:20 thats sooo cool Love the mechanic
8:15 -Oh no!
-Anyway..
Solar flare canceling Goku’s instant kamehameha was so clean. That’s been my favorite detail so far. Love the content my guy
10:06 Arale & 1 of the Gacchans though 😄
I think I’d love to see some random facts about ultimate tenkaichi and burst limit tbh
Will do! I made one video couple of months ago, featuring some of the PS3/XBOX360 era DBZ games. Didn't feature Ultimate Tenkaichi, tho. I'll focus more on those games in one of the upcoming videos.
Pretty sure the Jojo guy at the arena was Bruno Bucciarati
Really?
@@larrytod9790 yeah check out
Its 2am I Dont Even Watch Read Or Play Anything Dragonball But I Find Myself Watching This Dudes Videos Over And Over
Budokai 2 is the only db game I had for a long time. I knew about the fusion swapping mechanic, I never thought about how weird it was though
8:20 So the legends are true...............
.....................all squares makes a circle.
Okay, you can take a break.
i'm gonna turn tirangles into fucking squares
U mean a triangle
The Budokai Tenkaichi series was my favorite. Open 3d arena, extremely fast paced combat and animations, and arena destruction up to even destroying the world.
4:44 right they do switch out, I'm getting this game again
I really enjoy watching ur vids and everytime the notification comes I literally rewatch all of ur other vids
The tribeam hurts a lot because he applies his genki energy as opposed to normal ki. It's how he's able to hurt cell regardless of powerlevel, and why it drains his hp more.
I really love watching these secret video for DBZ games especially with DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 4 coming out
I'd love to see a secrets in the Ultimate Ninja games. Those were always a blast and a really solid "Naruto's answer to Budokai".
We need a Naruto game like kakarot but better . For single player
@6:17 Not just the jawline but his nose is longer and wider too!
that goku impression is pretty good
I remember using the tag mechanic in Budokai 2 to dodge stuff from time to time. I am amazed that people didn't know about it, I thought it was common knowledge.
9:12 You can see imperfect Cell near that big tree
He’s just Chilling There enjoying the Scernario
3:56 look at the back round its the sword that gohan used
RIP Akira Toriyama 🙏 🐉
I dont know if u guys already notice but
In dbz bt 3 if u use goten and use his kamehameha skill, he will shout kamekameha instead of kamehameha and its written in his skill list as kamekameha
4:52 daym, even in the games he be roasting ppl lol
0:17 Over 161 characters, and 12 of them are Goku lol
The reason the kikoho does more damage when failing is because tenshinhan lost control of the energy expenditure he himself more than once says that the technique takes part of the life force to boost the ki
Rest in peace sensei, thank you for completing our childhood
4:55 only vegeta 😂
Trunks cartwheeling his way out was low key the scariest evasive they ever animated for some reason
6:40 This version of Cell was actually featured in Dokkan Battle last year
Not sure how many people noticed this, but in Budokai 2, fusion dance characters have infinite ki. You can just spam O right or O left. They also don't defuse when the timer hits zero. only when they get hit after it reaches zero.
6:45 dokkan did it with agl transforming cell
very good and informative video. i have watched all parts of this video series so far and i love it. I think I speak for others here as well when I say I'm very hyped for the ultimate ninja games, they were a part of my childhood too, it would be amazing if you could make videos about them as well. Thanks very much.😊
8:08 still lasted longer than me
Cool! I Hope you grow a lot here in YT. You deserve it!
That SS Gotenks middle thumbnail is a cursed image lol
The Tien thing isn’t a mistake. KiKoHo (translated as Tri-beam) does just mean something similar to “Ki Cannon” and in tenkaichi 1 that’s more so how it looked in dragon ball but later games changed it to how it looked against cell.
Thank you for using the Dragon Ball Kai Ending in this, that made me really happy. I love the Kai music dearly
I love this videos can't wait for more!
In BT3 there is a glitch with Solare Flare
When your opponent wants to grap you and you use solare Flare at the last few frames, you wont take any damage and your opponent can move around without any issues (no closeup etc)
But you still have the hit animations of the entire grap
Weekly videos until Budokai 4 holy shit you're the best 😱
In all seriousness, these have been fun nostalgic reminders of these games, glad I found this channel and can't wait to see BT4 videos in 2035 😈
Bahahahahhaha lmao
Appreciate it!
