The Diva was portrayed by French actress and filmmaker, Maïwenn. However, the Diva's singing voice was that of Albanian opera lyric soprano, Inva Mula.
All of the women in the movie were models which modeled with Mila Jovovich, she basically asked all of her friends to do the movie with her and they jumped for joy to be in a movie. Notice all the women are absolutely beautiful!
Hi Emma i love watching all of your videos again. It actually makes me mad that this is happened to you, you don't deserve this i wish i could do more to help you. I really admire the way you are handling this stay strong Emma❤🙏
🤩🌹 Hi, Emma! Great reaction! The Fifth element was LOVE! Without Love, this ultimate weapon would not work! Jean Paul Gaultier, the amazing world famous fashion designer created almost 1000 costumes for this wonderful movie! 🤩
I knew you'd like this movie, Emma. I regret not seeing this at the theater. At the time, I underestimated how good it is. I rented the DVD a year later and it blew me away. The director was Luc Besson and another of his science fiction movies you might like is called LUCY, starring Scarlett Johansson.
So, Emma, if you ever get the chance, go see the opera Lucia di Lammermoor, which is where the Diva's aria is from. Specifically, the scene is a new bride's wedding night. That's all I'll say because of spoilers. I saw it in New York at The Met.
@@Emma_Reactions Along those classical lines, a great movie I think I've already recommended for you is "Immortal Beloved," starring Gary Oldman (Zorg). It's a love mystery about Ludwig van Beethoven. The movie also has Isabella Rossellini, who is Ingrid Bergman's daughter (Casablanca) and whose accent sounds like yours.
A hell of a fun action comedy that never stopped gaining popularity! Leelu is probably Milla Jovovich's second most famous role, after Alice, from the Resident Evil series.
Unless she's ever in a truly good movie besides The Fifth Element, I'll always think of her as Leelu. Most of the movies Milla has starred in weren't great and I don't blame her for that. It's just unfortunate. I guess some people must have liked the Resident Evil movies. I could almost see the vision of how they might start getting good after the first one, but then they just got weird.
This is a great movie. Not only is the movie itself unique, but it has one of the most unique soundtracks ever heard. I love the music as much as the movie. The only other movie I can think of that pulls this off is Blade Runner. FYI: I was unsubscribed from your channel involuntarily. So, might want to remind people to check their own subscription status.
Happy to see you back. The Diva is portrayed by Maïwen. She was the ex-wife of the director Luc Besson. Milla Jovovich succeed her. The costumes were designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier a great French fashion designer. Zorg, the villain, is played by the great British American actor Gary Oldman. The music was composed by the French Eric Serra, a long time composer for the director Luc Besson.
Funny thing is he was nominated for both best and worst supporting actor in various awards. So was Milla Jovovich and director Luc Besson. Apparently, people either loved or hated this movie. Me, I think it is an amazing piece of imagination and just plain fun.
The first part of the aria in The Fifth Element is "Il dolce suono" ("The Sweet Sound"). It is based on the aria from Act III, scene 2 of Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor.
Love this movie. It's what you get with a French director, just like Alien: Ressurection. Crazy fun all around. RIP Ian Holm, out dearest Bilbo Baggins ^_^
This is really a fun movie!!! Saw it when it came out and wasn't sure what to think of it but over the years it's grown on me as a good sci-fi flick,,,,,Luvs'Ya Emma!!! RockOn🌎📽️🎶🎶🎶🎶
Hello Emma!😊 I just found out what happened. I am very sorry both your channels got taken down.😢 I lost access to my Instagram account, and had to create a new one. I knew you would appreciate The Diva singing that beautiful opera. Milla Jovovich does a great job in this film. Chris Tucker is hilarious. Great reactions to one of my favorite futuristic films, Emma!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I hope they can restore your channels.🙏🏻 If not, I m sure everybody will find your new channels.
Unfortunately, many people think like that and that is also a reason why wars start, or why wildfires are caused by arson. They think that destruction creates work or resources, or Tanos from the Marvel films thought that wiping out half the population would eliminate the evil.
This is the only movie that I saw more than once in the theaters. Saw it 3 times. It's quirky, goofy, funny, with stunning visuals, and great action. Though, seeing the stunning Milla in it may have something to do with that too. Especially for a teenage boy.
Thanks for the great reaction to one of the most fun movies ever. Interesting tidbit: Luc Besson, who did this movie, got married to the lady who played the Diva when she was 16, (which inspired the movie Leon, the Professional). They divorced when he got involved with Mila Jovovich while filming The Fifth Element and they got married soon after.
There's another movie by the same director, called "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets ". Incredible sci-fi, based on a French comic book the director loved in his childhood.
Bruce Willis is also very good in the spooky movie "The sixth sense" and the slightly surreal movie "Unbreakable". Both movies have tight stories and great casts.
I love this movie, I remember seeing it with a friend of mine from high school when it came out. It too bad about your channel getting deleted, but I’m glad to see that you’re back!
The *feeling* of this film, is an incredible amount of energy. The large majority of it is fast-paced (as it should be), but it has appropriate ‘slow’ moments, so that we (the audience) doesn’t get tired. •••• If there could be ANY valid example of a one-shot film that’s thought of as a ‘competitor’ to Star Wars, it would have to be this film: Both are mixtures of science fiction and fantasy; both have a whole set of ICONIC characters that no one will forget; both universes have incredible world-building, including fantastic gadgets, aliens and costumes; both have extremely memorable music. This film came out in 1997 - two years before the first film of the Star Wars prequel trilogy (The Phantom Menace). I’d like to think that George Lucas enjoyed this film, and that it influenced him in some ways (The huge, infinitely complex futuristic New York City environment, reads like it could have influenced the feel of Coruscant, the capital of the Republic, in the Prequel Trilogy.) Note that there are “tips-of-the-hat” to Star Wars in this film: Major Iceborg’s hair is a deliberate homage to the Princess Leia ‘space buns’ in the first Star Wars film. •••• Two film recommendations: - While the pre-production of ‘The Fifth Element’ was being assembled, Luc Besson wrote and directed another extraordinary film: “Leon: The Professional” which, like ‘The Fifth Element’ co-stars Gary Oldman as the major villain. It also stars a very young Natalie Portman in her first film role. The story is inspired by one of the “bit” characters that are shown to audiences in Besson’s previous film: “La Femme Nikita.” - “His Girl Friday” from 1940, is the only film I can possibly think of, that rivals “The Fifth Element” for its insanely fast pace. But, where “The Fifth Element” relies in equal parts of writing, directing, music, costuming and set design to WOW the audience, “His Girl Friday” was more limited in what it could do: It had to ‘channel’ everything into the writing, directing and acting. (It succeeded - it’s a timeless classic, as well as perhaps the film with the most sustained fast-paced dialogue in film history. And, I think you’ll love Rosalind Russell as Hildy Johnson, the female lead.)
On UA-cam, you can find a few people trying the Diva Dance song. A couple I found very good - Jane Zhang-The Diva Dance and DIVA DANCE - Dimash Kudaibergen 300 years later.
Emma, considering you are such a music lover, you aught to know that Milla Jovovich quite a musician herself. Her album, "The Divine Comedy" is one of my favorite.
The language Leeloo speaks was written by the director, they could actually hold conversations with it. She really whacked her head in the reactor chamber. The diva is the director's future ex wife, Milla is his future wife. The armor worn by the aliens is called an encounter suit. The more lights and decorations the higher their rank. Basketball players were hired to wear it. Yes, I've watched this a few (bunch) of times.
One of my favorite movies . Had my choice of seats in the theater when I saw it the first time , but now have it on disk , and enjoy it at my leasure . The soundtrack is one of my favorite features , but story and casting are in a battle for second place .
This is my favorite movie of all time. I was in the US military in South Korea when this movie came out. The military assignment was a really bad assignment and a rough time. This movie came out and I waited in line at the military base theater for an hour to get in when it was about 5 degrees Fahrenheit. Was totally amazed by the colors, story so on. I went off the military base the next day to a movie shop (they were VHS tape shops back then). They had a mural of the movie which was 4 foot by 6 foot. The mural was the part of the movie where Leeloo jumps off the building. I had a few yen in my pocket (didn't know how much I had; it was like 100 US dollars in coins in yen). I grabbed a handful of yen out of my pocket and pit it on the counter and pointed at the mural wanting to buy it. The guy behind the counter got really big eyes and walked over to the mural, took it down, folded it up perfectly, put it next to the pile of yen on the counter and pushed both the mural and yen back to me smiling and nodded his head in courtesy. My eyes got huge, and I pushed the yen back to him and he pushed it back to me, so I put the money back in my pocket and graciously accepted the folded mural. This was in 1997, that mural is on the wall in my house right now. A wonderful memory of my life that brought laughter, color and happiness in a bad time. Things are much better now, a very fond memory for me during a hard time in life but more importantly a complete joy watching your reaction which to this day is still my reaction to this movie. Thanks for sharing!
I'm always fascinated by people's "choice" to either trust the researcher or the priest. And, how the researcher group changes their mind. Beautiful writing, casting, and directing on that scene - major social issues inter-playing together, they knew their audience well and so many stepped right into it. It's also amazing to see how many people don't know about the Nazi's spread into Africa/ME and why the stones would have been in danger.
I love this movie. Milla Jovovich was fantastic in it. I've liked Bruce Willis ever since I saw him in the Die Hard series. THE FIFTH ELEMENT is one of my all time favorites and I am so glad you reacted to it.😊❤️
Another good movie from Luc Besson. I watched several of his movies, but I'm from eastern Canada, so I watched them in their original french version. As well as many great movies from France, mostly comedy from the 70's and 80's. great era for french cinema, but I don't know if all of them have english translations. One that made me laugh the most was Les Ripoux (2 corrupt cops in Paris)--funny, but most of the jokes would be lost with translation. Even in french, it's the Paris slang, so it requires to be familiar about it to fully understand. You could try to look if there's an english version of it, if you wish. Can't help you with this, as I can understand the originals. Have a nice day & great reaction, as usual.
MULTIPASS!!! Haha thanks for the reaction, I always enjoy watching this movie! and think the music choices in it were really cool and different than most movies. Thanks for all your reactions, take care Emma
18:53 -- RE: Vito and Leelu; Full disclosure, my favorite scenes are mostly when both these characters are interacting with one another. I especially like how Leelu's language needs translating but only a little, and as she learns English her vocab still has a bit of an accent, like "Dot!" for That.
I wondered how you would feel about this movie when you got around to watching it. Now I know. That piece of music you anticipated to hear and loved was perfect but it was a recording done with the directors wife who played the Deva. Having said that, don't sell your own singing voice short because that's one of your greatest talents/strengths which I like about you. When you have no singing voice such as I, you can appreciate what a well trained singing voice can sound like.
About flying cars - they've already existed for like 50 years, they're called autogyros. About general use of flying cars - I hope to god that never happens, 99% of people can't properly operate a car in 2 directions, it would be massive carnage if they had to do it in 3.
It's understandable that people think Leeloo is the 5th element considering she says she is. But she's the 5th stone. The 5th element is love.
Oh yeah, this is true for me!!!!
True...the stones channel the elements. Never really thought about it till now.
That's a fabulous point! Leeloo was the conduit for love. That's why the "weapon" wouldn't fire until she felt love for the first time.
Emma - When Leeloo woke up in the reconstruction chamber, she was re-living the moment of her death as the guardians' ship crashed into the planet. That's why she was so confused and terrified.
And due to the fact she probably has perfect memory, was not in a friendly mood😮.
It was probably a reaction to being a human for the first time and not a big ugly armor wearing penguin.
@@robertc49 I think Leeloo was always (mostly) human. She (or at least her DNA) was in the sarcophagus the Guardians took from the temple at the start of the movie.

I especially like how Leelu's language needs translating but only a little, and as she learns English her vocab still has a bit of an accent, like "Dot!" for That.
emma! always happy to see you! 👍☺
Several 1000 years ago there was already a moon, now it happened again and we got a second moon again!
Banger movie. 😃
Gary Oldman played the main bad guy. He is great.
Evgenia Laguna does a very good rendition of the Diva song.
About flying cars - they've already existed for like 50 years, they're called autogyros.
About general use of flying cars - I hope to god that never happens, 99% of people can't properly operate a car in 2 directions, it would be massive carnage if they had to do it in 3.
