James Cameron - "The Abyss" Also, James Cameron is the only actor who has been down to the lowest part of the Pacific Ocean in a specialized diving bell - at that depth, the diving bell can only be used once and it can never be used again. When the crackpots who designed the mini-sub to take guests to see the Titanic killed a crew, it was because they had used poor engineering and the sub was used too many times. The Titanic is nowhere near as deep as the deepest Pacific spot, but it is still deeper than even most military subs can go. When James Cameron planned to video the Titanic with an unmanned diving sub for the beginning of the movie "Titanic" several problems occurred leading to scrapping that idea and generating the look with computers.
Loren Janes is “old man on the elevator” in the horse/motorcycle chase scene, and he and his wife (the woman with him on the elevator) were involved with the horse training having run a ranch for Hollywood horses. Loren had previously been a top stuntman in Hollywood serving as Steve McQueen’s stunt double for most of McQueen’s career. Loren also executed one of the craziest and most dangerous stunts ever to appear in a film. At the end of ”What’s up, Doc?” Loren is standing up in a convertible as it is being driven under a long, long tent-like awning before launching off a pier into the harbor. The stunt was designed so that his head would be visible above the canopy as the car raced under, and a metal collar around Loren’s neck was to protect his throat as he tore through the breakaway seam in the fabric. Unfortunately the draft created by the speeding car during the actual take caused the canopy to billow up, and instead of hitting him in the neck, the heavy canopy hit him directly between the eyes, knocking him unconscious. Fortunately his limp, unconscious body was thrown from the car as planned as the car sailed off the pier (at 70mph!!!), and a rescue crew was able to reach him moments after he hit the water. “What’s Up, Doc?” was the first film to ever list stunt performers’ names in the end credits, and Janes certainly deserved the recognition. That was 1972. I heard Loren give his first-hand account of this experience when he came to visit my college in the early 90s.
The daughter, Dana, is played by Eliza Dushku. She went on to be in "The New Guy", "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" and some cheerleader movie I never saw.
I've watched this many times and learned to just accept things in film. I was pleased to hear a great explanation for how they found them at the suite. Well played!
25:00 - Fun fact - Jamie Lee Curtis falling while dancing was unscripted. She stayed in character by quickly getting up and kept dancing that Cameron left the take in the final cut. (You see Schwarzenegger quickly sits up in the chair as she falls as he didn't expect it).
Great reaction guys to another classic arnie movie. The last collaboration between arnie and james cameron. Big thumbs up from ian. No arnie butt shots for Chandra thought in this one.
@dallesamllhals9161 That isn't a 2020's thing No one consents to being in a car accident, therefore they are victims of a car accident Same is true with victims of a horse accident, being a victim of a dog bite, victim of a bully, victim of robbery, etc.
Totaly enjoy you guys reacting to some great movies. Chandra gets so animated with the action and explosions it's great to see. Reminds me of the first time I saw these movies and reacted similar. It is the reason for movies pure entertainment!😊😊😊
@@josephhein9497 + I never watched that cartoon. And I'm in my 50's. So I never got the reference either. I just thought she wanted a prettier cooler name than Doris. 💁♀️
This is just the perfect action movie! While Arnold has a lot of good movies, and T2 will always be my favorite, True Lies is just perfect in every way. So many interesting and unique action sets from the start, the plot is constantly moving and you get totally immersed, the comedic bits hit super well (like that low battery joke!!!) and the absolutely unexpected side plot is so good that you completely forget about the main plot for a chunk of the movie until it merges with the main plot and even delivers more natural comedy!! And every actor fits and acts perfectly/authentically! No action movie deserves it to be so well written and directed, but here we are!
And now that I have arrived at the end of the video, I realize that I didn't have to write all of this, because you said the exact same thing! hahaha Well played!
Hello Chandra & Jordan!😊 This is definitely James Cameron's attempt at doing a James Bond type film.😉 Harry's daughter Dana is Eliza Dushku. She is a local celebrity from the Boston area here. She is best known from the TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" as Faith. Harry's partner is comedian/actor Tom Arnold. He is Roseanne Barr's former husband. The guy that tries to shoot Harry in the bathroom is dressed like the Terminator in the original film.😉 Silly comedies like the "Naked Gun" films and Jim Carrey films are really in right now with reactions. Also, 80s and 90s horror and sci-fi films that deal with practical effects are popular now, with people experiencing CGI fatigue. Great reactions to this very well made action film, Maplenut Duo!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 P.S. - Very sad, great actor and the voice of Darth Vader, James Earl Jones passed away yesterday.😢
Oh yes!!! I remember recommending this movie on one of your first videos. I wrote this comment before I watched your reaction, but I hope you’ll like it. It is VERY 90s
In light of his passing yesterday, I'll recommend Gardens of Stone. It's about soldiers of Third Infantry "the Old Guard" Arlington National Cemetery during the Vietnam War. James Earl Jones had a supporting role as a Sergeant Major. Not as well known but it's one of my favorite's of Jones'
You almost can’t go wrong with anything from Tony Scott’s filmography, particularly when he teams up with Denzel Washington. My favorite of these exciting collaborations is “Deja Vu.” I’m surprised this isn’t more highly regarded. Terrific sci-fi, action, detective, thriller with a hint of a love story. A fantastical story that is perfect for Tony Scott’s über-kinetic style of filmmaking. In a different direction is anything from Brian De Palma, my favorite director. My favorite is “Body Double.” Would love to see you two react to that one. Such a good movie. Although you’ll appreciate it much more if you’re familiar with both “Rear Window” and “Vertigo.” Excellent twist on some of the familiar elements from those two classics.
45:40 "That's my favorite, when dudes are on fire running across the screen, that's just like the funniest thing in the world to me." The devil: She's the one. I've found my protege.
They didn't blow up the real bridge, it's a miniature 😅 That said, the best stunt is easily Jamie Lee Curtis hanging from the helicopter; she did the stunt herself because she wanted the experience! 😀
Oooo I commented about True Lies on your T2 reaction from a couple months ago! Excited to see y'all enjoy this. I bet it was suggested many times. The helicopter bridge stunt with Jamie Lee Curtis was real and they were all wired up for it. I believe in an interview that she said she wanted to actually do it for the movie.
I was in high school when this came out. One boy's parents had arranged for him to see it with his friends on his birthday, I was one of those friends.
Harry late for his birthday party: "That's bad. I feel bad for his family." 😂😂😂 Oh, just wait! Awesome reaction. I always get excited to see your videos pop up. Definitely think about watching Stranger Than Fiction (2006) and Master And Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003 and in my opinion a masterpiece).
From what I understand, the "truth serum" thing actually kind of works, it's just a misnomer since it doesn't force you to tell the truth or anything, it just makes you not care about any consequences and makes it harder to come up with lies (creative part of your brain), so the _effect_ is that you simply tell the truth since it's the easier thing to do and you just don't care.
Didn't know it at the time, but this was my first introduction to Eliza Dusku (daughter) who'd go on to play one of my favourite characters of the Buffyverse.
So glad y’all did this one, such fun & yep it had everything. Tongue in cheek but the storyline was great & Jamie Lee nailed the arc of Helen, almost two different characters. For another great Arnie film, I must suggest “Eraser”…often overlooked but I think the story is better.
The best 80s action/comedy/drama movies are the Lethal Weapon series. Each sequel is better than the last. Tons of practical explosions, guys jumping out of buildings, guys on fire, cars flipping. Lots of fun and heart in those movies.
Another one that is very similar to this is Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie, if you haven’t seen that one, I’d highly recommend that one!!
14:34 "Oh my God, is Arnie going to kill Bill Paxton" No....... not this time. Edit: I almost forgot to mention the Carlos that Bill Paxton's character was accused of being was Carlos the Jackal, a very real historical Assassin. There have actually been 2 movies about him, "The Jackal" and "Day of the Jackal"
True Lies is the name of an Intelligence tactic in which you tell a lie enough times you believe it when you say it. So, you have no signs of incongruent speech or behavior (you pass visual, verbal, body or, even Polygraphics test). The face has 46,000 nerve Afferents' so someone who has eyes closed doesn't know what to expect is hypersensitive so the satin-like feel of a rose slowly caressing the skin and filling the olfactory sensors in the nose create an incredibly sensual overload. Ok Boris and Doris, I had a lot of fun, thank you. Firearms like these are spray and pray weapons.
Sabotage (2014) is one of Arnold's more modern movies I remember really enjoying. It is based on an Agatha Christie story and it had Sawyer from Lost. Also recommend End of Days (1999), as memory serves, may be the closest Arnold got to a horror movie.
If you guys enjoyed this one, you should do Demolition Man from the same time period with Wesley Snipes, Sylvester Stallone, Sandra Bullock and Benjamin Bratt. If you haven’t seen it. Another one is the Miss Congeniality movies with Sandra Bullock, and The Net.
Chandra and Jordan, I know you'll never see this, and there certainly won't be people piling up behind this comment, but I'd love for you to watch a Canadian film called Men With Brooms. It has Leslie Nielson in it. It's peak northern Ontario vibes. Hilarious film about curling. Well written, well acted. A ton(ne) of fun. You'd really enjoy it . . . aaaaaand, as a bonus, no one else is reacting to it.
And another bit of trivia: the costume worn by thug #1 in the bathroom fight is the same one worn by Arnold in Terminator. Save a buck where you can, right?
The older couple in the elevator with the horse are actually the horses owners. They rode with him to help keep the horse calm.

When James Cameron planned to video the Titanic with an unmanned diving sub for the beginning of the movie "Titanic" several problems occurred leading to scrapping that idea and generating the look with computers.
Cameron is a great filmmaker, and this cast proves it.
I liked how once again, they were able to slide a Sylvester Stallone reference in: "I married Rambo".
The limo driver is actually a cellist that played in this movie's soundtrack as well as other very well known movies.
Great reaction. One of the all-time most fun 90s movies. Like Jordan said, it's got everything.
Now that you've seen Charleton Heston, it's time to watch the TEN COMMANDMENTS
James Cameron is a Mount Rushmore director, you literally can't miss with his movies.
The Last Action Hero is fun too! Loved your reaction by the way!👍👍
Yet another fun fact - the horse is the same one Indy was riding in the Last Crusade.
The daughter, Dana, is played by Eliza Dushku. She went on to be in "The New Guy", "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" and some cheerleader movie I never saw.
She didn't get to see Arnold but he got to see Jamie looking fantastic!
This was a great choice. One of the very best movies ever done.
Did you know it’s a remake of a French movie?
I've watched this many times and learned to just accept things in film. I was pleased to hear a great explanation for how they found them at the suite. Well played!
Love her energy & his attention to detail....great react & review.
Another fun Arny movie is Twins 🎉 bonus with Dany Devito
Don't forget about Junior where Arny is pregnant.
The bridge explosion was a miniature, but it was apparently quite a large one, approximately the length of a football field.
38:23 Good eye, Chandra. This movie was the FIRST time a car ever fell away from a victim rather than the victim being pulled FROM the car.
Helen's a victim? Oh right 2020s..
@dallesamllhals9161
That isn't a 2020's thing
No one consents to being in a car accident, therefore they are victims of a car accident
Same is true with victims of a horse accident, being a victim of a dog bite, victim of a bully, victim of robbery, etc.
Totaly enjoy you guys reacting to some great movies. Chandra gets so animated with the action and explosions it's great to see. Reminds me of the first time I saw these movies and reacted similar. It is the reason for movies pure entertainment!😊😊😊
The reason she was disappointed with Doris was because Boris and Natasha were the main villains from the old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon.
Surprising how many people don't get that part.
Arnold: *does something
Maplenuts: 🤯That's a great move!
😂🍻
Hahaha it's so true! He could just stand there for an hour and we'd think it was an amazing art film or something lol
jamie lee and tia carrere in top form! honestly, this movie is one of the best remakes ever made!
TOTAL RECALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROCKY 2 , PLEASE 🙏
45:40 "That's my favorite, when dudes are on fire running across the screen, that's just like the funniest thing in the world to me."
The devil: She's the one. I've found my protege.
They didn't blow up the real bridge, it's a miniature 😅 That said, the best stunt is easily Jamie Lee Curtis hanging from the helicopter; she did the stunt herself because she wanted the experience! 😀
When you're already in the Choppa, the only thing left to say is: "Get down to the limo".
I smiled all the way through this. Fantastic reaction 😊
I've heard that the bridge they used is still in use in Miami as a pedestrian bridge now lol
The bridge was a model. A very good model.
Have you seen Paxton's later work? What about Edge of Tomorrow. This is Tom Cruize's movie. Paxton has a small, but cool role there.
Didn't know it at the time, but this was my first introduction to Eliza Dusku (daughter) who'd go on to play one of my favourite characters of the Buffyverse.
My favorite Arnold movie! James Cameron did a great job putting this fun movie together.
So glad y’all did this one, such fun & yep it had everything. Tongue in cheek but the storyline was great & Jamie Lee nailed the arc of Helen, almost two different characters. For another great Arnie film, I must suggest “Eraser”…often overlooked but I think the story is better.
Brilliant movie - so funny, while still being edge-of-the-seat tense and anixiety-inducing!!! 😆
14:34 "Oh my God, is Arnie going to kill Bill Paxton"
No....... not this time.
Edit: I almost forgot to mention the Carlos that Bill Paxton's character was accused of being was Carlos the Jackal, a very real historical Assassin. There have actually been 2 movies about him, "The Jackal" and "Day of the Jackal"
The plot of “The Bourne Identity” novel (but not the movie) also revolved around Jason Bourne attempting to hunt down Carlos the Jackal.
1995 Apollo 13 has a fantastic cast including Bill Paxton. This is an amazing true story you will love. 🚀
She has a Mac 10 .45 ACP it fires 50 rounds in under 2 seconds, we used to cut watermelons, but you had to hold it sideways because of the upward recoil. Ok Boris and Doris, I had a lot of fun, thank you. Firearms like these are spray and pray weapons.
Great reaction kids. , and just as an aside, RIP Bill Paxon! ❤
Loved this film as a kid, was awesome.
Great reaction as always! This is such a fun movie.
The opening scene was filmed in Rhode Island there's a lot old mansions there not Switzerland.
Great reaction. Classic action film. Had fun watching this 😊
Arnie +.muscles + action + comedy = Commando
